Entelia only opened a few years ago but has managed to survive the credit crunch where many other businesses on this stretch of Whiteladies have failed. The interior isn't exactly typically Greek, instead it's got quite a Londony contemporary thing going on. To be fair, this is probably more fitting for the type of clientele it's trying to attract although personally I do love a tacky Parthenon sculpture or two. With a mini terrace perfect for nibbling on their mezze deal in the afternoon sunshine (at £6.95 for three plus olives and feta salad, it's hard to say no), Entelia does good Greek food at really quite respectable prices. There aren't a lot of Greek restaurants in Bristol and although Entelia isn't the best I've ever been to, it serves up a solid plate of mezze and some tasty meat dishes. read more

This is a Greek restaurant in Whiteladies Road with fantastic food and great service. I went here late with a group of girlfriends after a few drinks and the staff were lovely. They stayed open just so that we could eat and the food came out as good as if we had been the first customer in. I had lamb chops which were delicious and some of the girls had more tradition dishes which looked equally good. The wine we chose was recommended to us by the waited and at £13.99 was extremely drinkable. Didn't hang around for coffee as the girls had other ideas of where to go afterwards but would enjoy a revisit for a more leisurely eating experience next time. read more

I'm as ambivalent about Greek food as I am hot baths: I never really want it, it takes me a while to get into, I start enjoying it as soon as it gets cold. So I'm probably not the best person to review a Greek restaurant. However, I will anyway. My girlfriend and I found a 50% off offer on the 'table pouncer' website (well worth checking out) so thought we'd give it a go. The food was good, not great, but worth it for half the normal price. We had a Mezze platter and Mix Entelia souvlaki. I liked the meats but, for me, it wasn't anything special. I was as predictably picky with the platter as I always am. The service was great. The waiter was very attentive and we didn't have an empty glass in the 90 minutes we were there. Maybe I'd enjoy it more if it was 'my thing' but it's not. Love, love, love, love!!! Went to Entelia last Wednesday (29th Oct) and we had the meat mezze for two people and it was amazing!! (£23 p/person) To be honest Greek food is my favourite and so this place already had the upper hand, but it was better than expected. Lovely setting, candle lit and it was quiet (but it was mid-week). The food was excellent... There was lots and lots of it! And the service was great too. I went for the 2-course early dinner which was sizable, and absolutely delicious for a very affordable £10 My girlfriend went for the 3-course meze for £7 which was incredibly tasty and very generously portioned. I went here late with some friends after a few drinks and the staff were very friendly and actually stayed open just a little bit longer just so we could eat. When the food came out it was very, very good and as fresh as if we had been the first customers in. I had lamb chops which were delicious, but some of my friends had the more traditional dishes which they said were equally as good. Fantastic decor with a proper Greco ambience. Food is very nice, as well. But, the staff , very unfortunately, is awful. The female waitress is dressed very classy but, she doesn't know, how to talk with her customers. She is rude and pathetic. Even if you ask for a glass of water she gives a stare, as if you are asking for her life, in exchange, of the price you are paying, for the food. I suspect we were served smaller portions than normal, only, GOD knows why. Have been to Entelia before as well, for quick lunches and dinners in between those long hours in the Bristol Uni libraries which is situated just on the opposite lane of the pavement. But, this 'elegant' lady wasn't gracing the occasion and we had a good time, indeed! It is a bit expensive, but, in my personal opinion, the price is for the premier location on the White ladies Road and not for the actual food! The Customer Service, to put in one word, TERRIBLE!!!! It's a little dark inside the interiors,but, is well lit by candles on the tables. The Calamaris were awesome as usual, but so few, that we could count them with our fingers! The lamb chops were tasty as well. The cocktails are so so, to be honest, overpriced, but, yes, well decorated. The chicken Souvlaki was good as well. This Restraurant does proper Greek food, and there is no second thought to it. Another problem, of this place, is the disabled access. The Restraurant is up 2 steep steps and it's such a shame, that it has no ramp. So, if you are a wheelchair user, you have to be literally carried in. Now, what they call 'chips' is nothing but, oversized wedges,which, to make the situation worser, are dry!!!! The pitta bread was out from a packet, which I expected to be house made, I mean, for this price?? The garlic mushrooms were enjoying their last summers in a pool of butter and garlic!!! Now, the serving time was amazingly long, as well. The choice if the wines are also limited. I mean, come on, in a Greek Restro will you like to soak your thirsty lips in Chilean wine??? Now, if one has been to Greece, then it's not oblivion of his knowledge that Greek is famous for Vegan dishes. Here, the vegan choices are very limited! Really,really frustrating as, it was my personal favourite for Greco Roman delicacies and, it consistently surpassed my expectations in every visit. God knows,what was wrong!!!! We even had to wait for your bill,and finally out of an act of mercy the lady gave us the bill. Hope the conditions will be a little better, in our next taste expedition in the same territory! I love Greece & Cyprus, mainly for the cuisine and the traditional atmosphere of dining. Entelia completely encapsulates this and the roaring trade highlights this I've never been there when it hasn't been really busy. The staff are fantastic, full of energy, complete attention to detail and always smiling regardless of the fact they're running around like mad hatters attending to all the diners needs. As you may have guessed from my other reviews I like small plates and a love tapas / mezze style food so to be honest I'm sold just by looking at the menu before I even get inside. The food is executed well and there's plenty of it. My personal favourite is the Spanakopitakia (triangles of spinach pie) teamed with the fresh tzaziki. The baklava for dessert is beautiful but suggest sharing it, if you're squeezing in that final course! If it's a special occasion make sure you make them aware it is great fun to get up after dinner for a greek dance and a bit of plate smashing, just be aware of the tables around you when you slam that plate to the floor! read more

Ever since I discovered Entelia a few years back I have always enjoyed the delicious flavours that Greek food can offer. Having tried a few Greek places I would highly recommend this in Bristol up on Whiteladies road. I love the Grilled meat, Houmous and veg that only the Greeks know how to do best. It is very romantic if you wish to be that way and also great for parties and groups. A Greek beer I recommend is the Mythos beer. The place was nice and the food was tasty. The main meals were a good size but everything else was overpriced and very small in size. At a good Greek restaurant it should feel homely and comfortable. The point is to enjoy yourself with lots of food and wine. We bought only one bottle of wine between 8 of us but the price still came to over £20 a head. The dips were around £3.50 each and were tiny so couldn't be shared adequately between 8. The Greek salad maybe was enough for 3 or 4 people. The haloumi was small although they did add one more slice so we could all have some. The staff were friendly but the place felt like it was trying to be something that it wasn't. I would rather have gone to a local taverna with food cooked by a family. The food was nice but too pricey for what it was meant to be. read more

Took a visit to Entelia with my girlfriend a few weeks back as in her words, 'she wanted Greek or something' I popped into the restaurant on Saturday afternoon expecting to easily book a table for 2, but was told they were fully booked (so much for the credit crunch). My name and number was taken and I was told if a cancellation happened I would be called. 6pm I was called to say 8:30 table available. Got there with my girlfriend to find a packed restaurant full of atmosphere. Food was excellent. For starters I had King Prawns and my girlfriend Halloumi. Our mains were delicious! I had the traditional Greek Stew that resembled a Asian curry, but tasted nothing like one. Girlfriend had swordfishtruly the best swordfish we have ever tasted. Nice, if a little noisy restaurant. The place was busy when we went, but the kitchen and waiting staff took it all in their stride. Food and drinks came quickly and without fuss. We decided to be greedy and went to a few of the meze menus. We had anticipated a lot of food, and we got it! Nothing could be faulted with teh cold mezes. All very delicious. All the dips were creamy and well seasoned, although perhaps a touch too much garlic in the tzatziki for our liking. We could have preferred a couple more dolmades, and less olives (while we like them, there were a LOT of olives!). Hot meze were a little more hit and miss, although on the whole we enjoyed them. be warned that the vege meze menu has a great deal of cheese. We had to give up on it after a while. Probably would return some tim in the future, and just order the meze that we like, or perhaps try on of the mains, such as kleftiko etc. read more

My girlfriend and I had a discount voucher and went for some meze food. Food is lovely, but what impressed me the most is the atmosphere. Very genuine, and very friendly. A friend and I went to Entelia for a girly lunch. There was a board outside offering a mezze for 2 for a total of £12. We were lured in by this offer ordered the 'fish mezze', only to get a bill at the end for £45!!!! They reckoned we'd ordered the evening mezze and the manager wasn't willing to discuss it with us and said we had to pay in full and that we should have known it wasn't the same thing! So we put down £25, thinking that that was a good compromise and left, only to find they followed us home and had called the police! Terrible customer service and a complete nightmare! So stressful and upsetting. I can't believe that they weren't willing to come to a compromise of any sort! If you go to this restaurant you'd better hope that you're happy with the food because if you refuse to pay because the food or service are bad then heaven help you!! read more
