Pic 2, The Don, was picked for inclusion of chorizo, nduja mayo, and pickled chili and was very well cooked and tasty. With chorizo, nduja mayo, and pickled chilli I expected it to be sweeter but it was still delicious. The chili cheese fries were great, crispy and soft but very tasty. The only complaint was the very stingy application of cheese, we would definitely have preferred more but the meat and chips were delicious. Plain fries were good. Overall very satisfied and would definitely return.

The burger as noted was well cooked and proportioned and I really appreciated that I could choose the "done"-ness, which I don't usually see on delivery options. It's also appreciated that the bun is toasted, so simple but such an easy way to keep a burger from getting messy. In fact, over the last few years there have been quite a few burgers restaurants open in Bristol, but Atomic Burger offer a really different, fun experience. First things first; the restaurant is comic book themed. Everything from the walls, floor, menu and windows is covered in marvel-style comic book pictures. That obviously makes it a great place to take kids, but you'll also find lots of couples, groups and students. It's probably not the best place for a business lunch. Me and my girlfriend went for the first time yesterday and it was great to sit outside and make the most of the sun. We sat on the same table as another couple and got chatting to them. They had been to Atomic Burger MANY times and were on a quest to try every burger on the menu. If you do then you get 20% off for 12 months. Just ask for a sticker after your meal and if you collect them all you get the life discount. The couple both had cocktails that had a bottle of Sol larger upside down in the glass - I didn't care what it was, I wanted one! After ordering "whatever they've got" it turned out to be a 'largerita' which was SO good! The Sol slowly tops up your margarita as you drink - genius! I'm a sucker for a gimmick! The menu is big and actually a little bit confusing. I went with the LLAP: beef burger, pulled chicken, blue cheese sauce, Louisiana hot sauce and spring onion. It was amazing! I had the garlic and chilli fries which were also really good. The best thing for me though, was the beavers jalapeño mustard. Mmmm, beavers jalapeño muuuustard!! A must try if you like spicy food. We left, met some friends at another bar, and then went back to Atomic Burger to show them the largeritas. One bite and he was sweating, dizzy, couldn't feel his lips and not feeling so clever anymore. We since found out they are made with three of the hottest chillies on earth! They have a local guest ale every week, usually over from Bath. They also have some really great beer & lager, like Fruli (strawberry beer) from Belgium and other white beers like Hoegaarden and Erdinger. I know the company who owns this venue are very conscious that each of their pubs or bars has its own identity that reflects its location, and this certainly does that. They are also very music conscious and you can often here some of the newest up and coming bands being circulated on their playlist. The old manager (Rich) did an amazing job of giving the place an eccentric, unique and bold style ('it's like a normal pub but frilly' some people have said). There's really interesting local art and one-off pieces of furniture everywhere. The Clifton really is perfect in the winter. You can snuggle up on one of the many sofas that stretch out into the huge back section of the pub and hide away from the miserable weather outside. The staff are always cool and fun. If you see Andy tell him to eat some dinner, he's too skinny. Make sure you try the chilli puffs & wasabi peas: the ultimate in bar snacking.

Due to the lack of customers the burgers were also presented well where as in previous visits they have been thrown together, For £10 a burger with no sides you would expect it to be though. I asked for my burger medium rare and it was little overcooked for my liking but perfectly acceptable. We both selected the latest special 'The flaming Iceberg' which is a normal pattie cooked in a home made hot sauce glaze, with jalapenos, crispy onion, bits of bacon, ranch dressing, more of that hotsauce and of course iceberg. Many people may be put off by the lack of cheese but not me it was perfectly fine without it. The onions added great texture but the bacon bits were pretty small and not really noticable, Maybe some strips of streaky bacon would be better. Onto the hot sauce part of the burger. I love hot sauce and generally the hotter the better, So I was disapointed the hot sauce wasn't hot. Infact Tabasco is hotter (tastier too imo). I wanted a firework in my mouth and instead I got a party popper. As this was the element that i was looking forward to most I was a bit gutted, It also tasted quite vinegery. I do have a bout 30 bottles of hot sauce at home so im sure i'm a bit more picky than most. Apart from that the burger is pretty good and a welcome special. In the past few years my idea of a burger has been completely flipped, turned upside down! With the introduction of brioche buns and baconaise (what sweet sweet genius came up with that one) I have been outstanded. The location of Chomp is great, loads of parking around, especially if you know the tricks of the trade ;) it's a modern yet chilled interior which really really worked for me. The right light levels and music volume so you don't overhear other people's comments and you can spill and bit of food on yourself and no one will notice. That was a big bonus for me, especially if you sample their brilliant range of ciders, ales and lagers. Staff were very friendly, great waitress and chef was a friendly bloke! Prices were so reasonable, £10 for burger with fries and slaw (no idea what happened to Cole from coleslaw, poor bloke) and drinks were a fair price too. They also do promo nights where you can get burger, sides and a drink for £10 or something. They also do specials every now and again, the other night was a Stilton burger - sounded perfect. Well, I think I've found mine! Bristol has been blessed with many new burger bars/restaurants over the last 12 months or so, and we already had a number of gems. One of our most recent and highly anticipated, is Chomp. You may have had one of their burgers before, but if you hadn't, you will most likely have seen their awesome black burger van at the back of Temple Meads station. After their van gained an almost cult following, they've just opened their first restaurant in St Nics. Now, I love a burger. Who doesn't! And what I love most about Chomp burgers, is they are manageable with one hand, yet big enough to satisfy. The burger itself is super tasty and you can really taste the meat and seasoning through all the other ingredients. It comes in a beautifully coated and shiny brioche bun, which is without doubt the best bun I've ever had. As standard you get parmesan mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion, with tomato sauce and mustard. It comes together perfectly! No sticks holding it together and no gimmicks. I don't want to say it's the best burger I've ever had, but I can't think of another 'classic burger' that I've enjoyed more. And to be honest, I am struggling to think of any burger I've enjoyed more. You can, of course, add extras to your burger, like jalapeños, Stilton or bacon etc - but I wanted to go purist, so stuck with the house classic. The rest of the menu is just as simple: burger, veggie burger, 3 different steaks. And they also have an extensive beer, bourbon and drinks menu. The restaurant is dark, casual and typically Bristol, and that makes me love it even more. See you soon, Chomp!
