It was only after my Dad passed away that I ran into significant problems.... mainly with Michelle Clement. My Dad had a business in Westford for 60ish years and had been doing business with Enterprise for many years. When I began helping in the office, I came in contact with several employees from Enterprise and always had good experiences. I worked with managers at different times, beginning with Sarah and then Wendy -- both were great and treated Dad and I with great respect. Everything went down hill quickly after my Dad passed away in 2021. It began with his business acct. All the checks that were written on the Monday before he passed away on Thursday were returned because the account was blocked. When I called to explain that I had no idea he was going to die on Thursday and I did not think these checks should have been returned with fees, I was basically told by Michelle Clement, that this was policy. I accepted that and paid the fees for all the bills that had been paid through this acct. Later in that same month, I went to the bank to close this account. I believed I had all the paperwork needed, but I was made to feel like a criminal, or that I was doing something wrong. I was told I could not close the account. I do realize it was a complicated matter, but I had been the person doing all the business here for my Dad for many years at this point and I was now his Personal Representative according to the probate. So, up until recently, this account had been sitting with no activity, but not considered in-active and had been charged a $50 fee per month for almost a year and 3 mnths. Recently, I was telling my brother-in-law about this and he decided to stop in to the Enterprise Bank in Nashua near his work location. He explained the situation to them. That same day he told me to call and speak to them. Within 2 hours the situation was resolved. I went to the Nashua NH Branch with my ID and they issued me a check made out to my Dad's estate. I was told that all the paperwork needed for this to happen was already on file -- 2 death certificates and the probate info., and also the fact that I had been an officer on the business (filed with the state of MA) was all that was required by the Risk Manager of the bank. Again, within 2 hours this was all resolved and they also reimbursed the account for $50/month fee. Just to clarify -- Michelle Clement at the Westford MA branch had all this information in 2021 and claimed it wasn't sufficient????? I will say, my faith in Enterprise Bank has been renewed, but I will never do business in Westford again.

The process was very complicated because I was dealing with someone else's bonds, and even though it took three people (and 2.5 hrs) to figure it out, it finally got done. As usual, everyone was very pleasant, professional, and helpful, and they apologized profusely and often that it was taking so long. The newbie who entered amounts had a total that didn't match the one I had, so she (and the two others) tried to determine why. My total was correct. For some reason, I didn't mind waiting. Guess I realized my prize for being patient would be the mini-Snickers that was in the little candy jar in front of me. They didn't pretend to know answers or contradict each other, but among the three of them, they finished the task. All I cared about is that everything got done, and no one had an attitude. This particular branch has a drive-up ATM, self-service coin machine (I don't believe they charge a percentage), and an Internet café. Tip: If you're wiring money from one credit union to another, they waive the $15 x 2 transfer fee ($15 at the origin and $15 at the destination). Go figure.

You can get through to people on the phone and it's a real employee who actually tries to solve your problem not an overseas telecenter reading off a script. Also Middlesex savings bank has much lower fees than I found elsewhere. For example when using the debit card overseas they give you the exact exchange rate unlike many large banks which will gouge you with fees and an exchange rate in their favor. I don't know of any other bank that has such a good rate for overseas charges as just one example. Also they're fairly careful about the security of accounts unlike many large banks.

Fully insured, so your money is never endangered. Personal and business accounts. EVERY service you need: There is a national ATM network, debit/credit/check/ATM card, free checking, unlimited checking transactions, free online banking, check images available, notary, etc etc!! Caring, competent, and nice management - (Nancy and Gertrude). When I wrote a check from the wrong account and overdrew it, I got a nice personal call from the manager letting me know, so I could straighten it out that same day, and avoid any more fees. We now have multiple free checking accounts there (free because I keep $500 in a savings account). We are in the process of moving all accounts from Bank of America, after a few months trial at Northern Bank - they are the winner.
