Hubby made a reservation for a midsize suv 12pm on Wednesday. We did not come to pick it up until 5:30pm (hubby's fault). We were told they gave our vehicle away because the time had passed. I was about to get a little loud when the lady said "for future notice please come at the reserved time. We can upgrade you for no charge." I was about to give her a hug, after all, we were leaving 3am the next morning to Maine and would have been SOL! We were given a QX80 Infiniti. Great SUV!! At first I was not impressed with the store because I only saw one employee present with about 4 customers in front of us. Shame on me.. the other was getting a car ready for another customer. I had a seamless experience with this Enterprise. They picked me up shortly after I called, then once I got there it only took a few minutes to get on my way. My rental worked out perfectly, no issues whatsoever- I had it for about 10 days. When my car was ready at the shop, I gave Enterprise a call to ensure I would have a way to pick it up once I dropped the rental off, and they were happy to bring me there. I was able to have my dad take me instead, but I appreciated their enthusiasm and how they never made me feel like a burden or anything like that. In other words- great customer service (as Enterprise strives toward corporately). When I returned the rental it again only took a few minutes. Once things got settled with my insurance company, I received a kind call asking how my experience went and how they could improve. I honestly can't think of anything. I would highly recommend using this Enterprise location for your rental needs. read more

I don't know if they don't care, if they're incompetent, or if they don't care that they're incompetent. I have never had more infuriating experiences with any company - ever. I made 2 reservations, both weeks in advance. The location called me the day before my 1st one and left a voicemail that they were calling to confirm. Not "there may be an issue, please give us a call," not "we need to review some details of your reservation," or anything else that might imbue a sense of urgency. Still, i called the number the employee left in the voicemail. It rang and rang and eventually went to the corporate-level automated phone system. I got a very nice customer service representative on the phone and told her i was returning a call to confirm my reservation. All seemed well. l arrived for the first reservation, a few min before the appt time. I was told that there were no cars. Wait, what? The employee went on to say, "well, I did try to call you," oh, no no no no no. You left me a vm to CONFIRM. And oh, yeah - I CALLED BACK. Oh, he went on, that "level" of the company can't see our system or inventory. Ah, I see. Then why didn't you tel me in your voicemail that I needed to speak with you directly? And don't move the goalposts - you had a reservation on record so it's on YOU to get the cars; it's not on me to confirm and double check and decipher the hidden meaning of a voicemail that says "we're calling to confirm your reservation." Of course this begs the question: what's the point of a reservation?? So I asked about cars at other locations. He had to call each one individually - apparently, there is no online system that includes all branches? Or he was giving me a line to explain why they weren't prepared with cars. Hard to tell. My husband and I ended up driving ourselves to another location to pick up a car. Insult to injury: we were told it was no problem to return the car to our original location. I handed the keys to the same employee I had been dealing with. The extra $300 deposit that i was told would "disappear" once i returned the car was STILL charged to my card after a week. I called to ask what was going on and was told that the rental hadn't been closed out because I "returned it to the wrong location." Um ... I returned it TO THE EMPLOYEE WHO SENT ME TO THE OTHER LOCATION AND TO WHOM I LITERALLY HANDED THE KEYS. I suppose it's on me that I didn't cancel the 2nd rental, but I actually talked to the employee about my upcoming rental and asked how we would make sure the same thing didn't happen. I also spoke to him directly this time on the day before my reservation - except I said I wanted to change to an earlier time. Summarizing: changing the time made NO difference. Evidently, appointment times and reservations are arbitrary. There were no cars until nearly 3 pm - AGAIN at a different location! Either Enterprise has the absolute worst inventory system, leaving its employees to resort to frantic texting, calling, and emailing, or the Cedar Road, Chesapeake location is legitimately a dumpster fire of an operation. This enterprise the worst of them all. I rented a car online and called the day it was to be picked up and the young girl said we can't have a car ready until after noon not ten like I needed and that size of car won't be available and I had to rent a mini van and pay the difference. They couldn't pick me up for hours and when I did they were upset I had to drop it off at a second location so they charged a drop off fee of 100.00 PLUS a 150$.00 cleaning fee even though it was clean when I turned it in. STAY away from them. I didn't get a copy of the agreement that day nor in my email to this day and I was charged 341.00 for one day rental plus a drop off fee. They are crooks!! read more

I'm a corporate customer at this location and will remain as such for the foreseeable future. I rent cars every week because it's cheaper than flying and I hate giving up my fourth amendment rights just so I can sit in a tiny conference room 30,000 feet up with the worst people in America. The entire staff at this location is very accommodating of my, at times, off-kilter sense of humor throughout the entire check-in process. They are the kindest car rental people I have ever had a chance to deal with. Joey is the branch manager for a reason and I've never had anything but great service here. Thing is, I love fast cars. Sure, I could go to National Car at the airport and get whatever I want. But I'd rather get in a Hyundai Santa Fe or a VW Beetle for two weeks than put up with people who won't even make eye contact with me. You just don't feel need to piss off your boss with photos of you in a bright red Challenger when your customer experience is 10/10 every time. read more

I needed a rental car after getting into an accident, and I was a little picky with what I wanted (needed something i was comfortable with so i didn't crash another car lol!), and they tried to work with me every step of the way so I'm very grateful! Arrived shortly after 2:00 to pick up rental car (reservation made weeks in advance and confirmed the day before for pickup at 2:00) - no one was in the office and car key safe appeared open/ajar. After a few minutes two other customers came in - after sitting for about 10 minutes an attendant came in and assisted a customer who arrived before my wife and I - he was dropping off a car so she went outside with the customer to check out the car he was returning. Approximately 5 mins later she came back in the office and started to help us out - after collecting our information she informed us that the car we had reserved was on at this location and that they sent someone to go pick it up. I then asked her how long it would be and she said about 10 minutes. We sat down to wait - the attendant left the office without telling anyone in the waiting area what was going on. After waiting about 15 minutes with no one in the office I went outside to see if I look locate her or anyone else - I around the side of the building and did not see her. After about 10 minutes she came back into the office and assisted another couple with a rental and went outside. About 10 minutes later she came back in and told us our car was ready - we went outside to inspect the car - it was recently quickly washed (not dried off) with a few dings identified (not really a big deal). The checkout process went fairly quickly and she did walk me through the checkout. However, made no offer to show us the interior of the car or any particular features (not a big deal), but she made no apologies for the time it took or for making us having to wait an hour to get the vehicle. Bottom line - service is very slow and poor. I chose this Enterprise office because of its proximity to our residence and past experiences (positive, although over 1 1/2 years ago). Not sure I will use this office or Enterprise again. read more

First and foremost @( 1245 Cedar Rd Unit M Chesapeake VA) I want to say Thank You to the Branch Manager who made my brief trip a pleasant once being it was my first time in the state of VA. There must have been a game event ( March Madness) because no cars were available. For 2 days I remained in VA with the hope of getting a rental. Branch Manger tried everything in her power to ensure that an opportunity would present itself. Finally, my wish was granted and I was on my way. I would say this office went out of its way to ensure customer was comfortable, answered all my questions about Chesapeake, Local restaurants, the business of Enterprise , the weather and invited me back again if i ever needed car rental services. I use all varieties of car rentals in my business. But I have found a soft spot for the Chesapeake VA branch. You made my stay a pleasant one. Enterprise in Chesapeake is my favorite place of business when it come to renting quality cars, engaging with quality personnel that makes you feel like family.. Thanks Branch Manager Cassity. From one problem to the next, this place is not worth the headache! I rented a car through cars.com. Enterprise was the best price, but sometimes you get what you pay for. I called at 8:00 am to get a ride to pick up my car, which was 3 miles from where I was staying. The woman on the phone, Heidi, said a car would be sent out in a just a few minutes. I called back 35 minutes later to ask where the heck the car was; I had a long day of driving ahead and every minute counted. She said she had tried to call me back for whatever reason but couldn't find my phone number, so she had sent out her driver to pick up someone else... -1 star. I got a ride to the place instead. Upon arrival, she said, "You got a 'free upgrade' to an Altima." I said, "No, thanks. I'll stick to the economy car I reserved; I have a lot of driving and gas is $4/gallon." She then noted that that was the only car she had in stock, so it was basically take it or leave it. So, I got in the car and was about to drive off but noticed that 1) the car only had 1/4 tank of gas and 2) there was a warning signal on the dash, apparently for windshield wiper fluid. So, I went back to Heidi and another 10 minutes passed as I waited to fix the fluid error. Another 10 minutes more, and I had a full tank of gas from a nearby gas station. By around 9:30 am, I was finally on the road, an hour and a half behind schedule. -2 stars. Upon my return, I expressed my discontent with the fact that the car used a lot more gas than an economy would have. Heidi apologized and stared at me blankly. I then asked for $25-$30 compensation towards these costs (based upon my calculations), but she said they don't do that, and that when you rent a car, you get what you get regardless of what you ask for. Further, she said that they don't actually rent "economy", only "compact" (the first meaning good on gas, the second just small; according to the website, they should have both). I pressed harder, and she offered me the number of her supervisor who would be unreachable all day. I pressed even harder, since trying to get anything out of someone over the phone seemed impossible, and she offered 5% off, which was less than $3.50 off on my rental. Standing firm, I asked for more--realizing that she had some authority despite her previous claim; Heidi then offered me $15, using some Nissan mileage math to figure out a discount. I said, "We can start there, but I will still be contacting your supervisor, as Nissan's estimates are biased vs. the independent government organization that reviews cars--remember when the government required car companies to lower their false mpg claims and put an independent reviewer into place? That's who I used for my math." At this point, she did a bit more math and offered me one rental day free. This came to about $24, so I obliged. But, upon reviewing my receipt when I got home, I noticed she sneakily added in a roadside assistance charge of $12, cutting the compensation in half. I called again... and she offered $8 off, saying that I had already gotten $4 of the $12 charge back within my $24 discount (although this discount was supposed to cover gas overcharges, not be used to cover her erroneous charges). So, my discount was cut to $20. -1 star. Bottom line: Given this exorbitant hassle, I would likely never rent from this location again. But given corporate offered me a sincere apology and compensation, I won't completely write off Enterprise in general. read more

It's been over a year since anyone has left a review here so let me update you. Megan the branch manager here could care less about her customers. I'm a plus member and was treated so insignificantly. Put in for a rental at this branch a MONTH ago and on day of pick up I was notified that I would be getting a Pacifica when I asked for a standard. I asked to wait to see if she could find me something else. Two hours later she let me know she had a compass for us. It was pulled from the dealership with damage on it, and then it smelt like a smoke bomb. I told her I couldn't handle the smoke (I'm allergic to it) so I'd unfortunately take the Pacifica. She seemed super inconvenienced to have to walk another vehicle for me and then didn't act understanding at all. Get into the Pacifica and same issue - smoke bomb. She's not managing her cars well and she's not ensuring she gets them detailed so that people like me can continue to rent her vehicles. I asked her to call me immediately when she had a different rental available. I come in the next day to return because I'm over it. She's not there so I ask Joey if she left a note explaining my situation and he says no. So I had to call corporate and put in a claim for the rental. I used to work for this company and had an awesome branch manager that climbed mountains for his customers. If you're looking for great customer service, don't expect that from her or her branch. read more

Some people just never learn... like myself! I'm a corporate customer and have used this location dozens of times. The only reason I continue is the extreme convenience factor. Never really had a decent experience here... it's always something. Dirty cars or cars with a 1/4 tank of gas. Well, today this office scraped the bottom of the customer service barrel. I reserved a vehicle for 12PM. I showed up at 12:05 (my fault). I walked up to the door and knocked. The employee inside just ignored me while surfing her cell phone, hoping I would just go away. After all, it was 12:05 and they were closed! I stood there for a minute or two then I knocked again. She looked up and finally acknowledged my presences. She gave me the, "one minute" signal and went back to her phone. A few minutes later she came to the door and promptly told me they had no more cars. As I was expressing my displeasure I noticed another employee was washing/prepping a car outside. I asked why I couldn't I rent that car. Her response was it was reserved for someone! WTH?!!! Guess my business trip will have to wait til Monday. BUT I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS LOCATION OR ENTERPRISE AGAIN! read more

Enterprise on Cedar Road was the most unprofessional business I have every dealt with. The young lady who rented the car to me first gave my vehicle away and did not have another vehicle. The same young lady found a car and told me to pick the car up at 5:30. When I arived to pick up the car, the young lady was in a rush to get me out the door. The one stipulation we had when speaking to the reservation clerk was, "NO SMALL CAR!" The car presented to me was small. She assured me it was the same size car that I had reserved, "it's just a hatchback, not a sedan." The Enterprise in Charleston, SC assured me that it was in fact a small car and even the smallest car that Enterprise rents. The Cedar Road lady told us that was what we ordered. I reminded her that we said, "no small car." Her reply was, "that is all we have; it isn't a small car." The young lady at Cedar Road also rushed us out of the office and did not give me an opportunity to look the car, did not go over or review the charges or the contract. I will never use Enterprise again due to their lack of honest, professional and customer forward business practices. How do you charge someone $439 for less than 24 hours of use for the smallest car in their inventory. We were told $222.91 and were charged $439. Renters beware!!! read more
