Often rents out cars with serious problems that I have to return and get switched to one without. And billing is shady, they have been holding an extra $200 on top of the rental cost and the $300 hold for at least a week and keeps telling me that it will drop off in 1 to 2 days. But it hasn't dropped off. They charged me before my rental period ended as well without offering a refund. So, there's the charge that was supposed to be pending, a new charge for the same amount that is pending PLUS the amount for an additional week for the rental and the $300 hold. They also threaten you that they'll take your insurance $ as soon as any scratch over 6 inches, but then give you cars with problems that need to be returned right away for ones without? Clearly they are not calling in the insurance claims on these cars, just turning them back out to unsuspecting customers. read more

Instead, just eight days before Christmas, they levied a single bulk charge of over $3,500, without prior warning or communication. This sudden enormous charge was not only unexpected but also financially overwhelming, pushing my credit card beyond its limit. The climax of this distressing experience was my visit to an Enterprise location on January 6th, a day that highlighted the company's rigid and customer-unfriendly policies. Prepared to address and settle any dues, I presented two debit cards (one with a chip) tied to the same bank account and even had cash on hand. Contrary to what one would expect, the representative refused to accept these payment methods. He insisted that only a credit card would suffice, despite my explanation that the last payment hadn't posted yet, rendering my credit card temporarily unusable for further charges. This inflexible stance by the Enterprise staff, particularly in front of my wife and me, was not just embarrassing but also emblematic of a glaring lack of customer service. My intent was clear: to pay the account current and secure the rental until Monday, when I planned to resolve everything at the original rental location. Yet, I was met with a snooty attitude and an unreasonable refusal of all payment methods except a specific type of credit card. This experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been both financially burdensome and emotionally taxing. The unanticipated large charge, coupled with the staff's uncooperative and condescending behavior, left me feeling unfairly treated and utterly helpless in a situation where I was more than willing to fulfill my financial obligations. Update to my original review below: The manager of this location called me and presented a resolution that I was satisfied with so I'm updating from 1 to 3 stars. I'm still not returning to this location because it seems disorganized but happy things were resolved. This review is being written to hopefully save anyone from renting from Enterprise at Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville, MD. I typically don't find a need to rent vehicles, but I figured I would rent one for a trip my family and I were taking to Hershey Park. A couple of days before I planned on picking up my vehicle, someone called to confirm that I was picking up my vehicle on Saturday which seemed like standard procedure. Saturday morning rolls around, and I figured I should get there a little bit earlier than when they opened at 9AM. There was only one person ahead of me waiting outside so I figured this would be fairly quick....this couldn't be further from the truth. When I came in I told the woman working there that I was picking up a full size SUV (7 seater) and that I had confirmed the pick up a couple of days earlier. She then told me that they didn't have any SUVs with that capacity available and only had a minivan. Although I wasn't happy with the fact that the vehicle I requested wasn't available I said fine to the minivan since we planned on leaving no later than 9:30AM. The assistant manager Daniel said that they had a minivan available but it wasn't cleaned yet so the wait would be between 25-30 minutes, again although not great I figured oh well I guess I will just need to wait and I could still leave around the planned time. Unfortunately for me, it ended up being around 50 minutes to an hour later once the car was ready which ended up delaying my trip significantly. I told Daniel that due to me having to wait, I felt like I should have some type of discount applied. He told me he knocked around $30 dollars off of the rental to make up for the inconvenience which was why I signed the contract/forms because at that point I was heavily considering leaving. Once I was given the keys to the car and did an inspection, I pulled off and noticed the light came on and that the air pressure on one of the tires was super low. I then had to turn back around to have the air filled which further delayed my family's trip. I told Daniel I thought an additional discount should be applied for this and I also found that the inside of the van (after supposedly cleaning it for 45 minutes) was dirty. There was a blue sticky film on one of the arm rests in the back and a Cheeto and fry next to the driver's seat (ironically right next to the complimentary Clorox wipe they provided). Daniel said that unfortunately the charge already went through so there wasn't anything he could do but his manager Justin would be calling me on Tuesday. Anyways with everything going on, I didn't realize until the next day that he never took $30 off for the inconvenience of waiting and in fact charged me more than they typically charge for their minivans. He completely lied and unfortunately I was so flustered about being delayed for our family trip that I didn't catch all of this in the moment. My word of advice: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!! This has been the worst experience and I don't even know how they are still in business. I would also suggest that if you don't heed my advice- please take pictures of the inside and outside of the vehicle you rent to protect yourself. If I do not get my $300 deposit or if they try to pull anything else, I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB and Attorney's General. This place really shouldn't be in business and it is a shame that they are one of the few car rental places in the area. This review is a few months late but it is important to me. This is only about the manager experience. Someone hit my car a few months back. The situation was already annoying for many reasons. Not only did someone hit my car, but also I only had the car for a few months when it was hit. I really wish I remembered his name (possibly Mike) because he really was awesome. This was definitely not my first Enterprise experience, but I have to say that it was the best. The other person's insurance company had only approved me for a particular daily rental amount. At his suggestion, he was able to contact the insurance company to get approval for a luxury vehicle that was as closely comparable to my vehicle as possible. As for the other staff, I am not sure how I felt about some of them at this location. In terms of customer service, I felt they were relatively on par with similar experiences that I have had at other Enterprise locations, which is just mediocre. Even after the body shop needed more time to receive the parts for my car, he assisted with extending the time on the rental on the insurance end. I also received a call from someone asking how everything was going with the vehicle. At the conclusion of the rental, he also ensured that the return process ran smoothly. I am certainly not accustomed to such an easy process on the back end of the rental process. After my previous experiences, I kept waiting for them to add extra fees to make more money, but that did not happen this time. Thank you! read more

As horrendous and as bad a train wreck as the Owings Mills location is, that's how easy, professional and seamless the Beaver Dam Road location ended up being for me. They rescued Enterprise in my view, as I was prepared to never deal with them again. The fantastic team of Daniel, Justin and Will really took great care of me and had me in and out in under 5 minutes. Amazing! Highly recommend this location over the Owings Mills one, where I was treated like something on the bottom of someone's shoe. read more

After being a loyal customer for over a decade, I expected better treatment. I had two major issues with this particular Enterprise location. They gave me an Infinity that smoked from the engine when I cut it on. I previously called to swap the rental but they told me there were no cars available due to the holiday. Days later, it got worse when the car AC went out on me on a Saturday leaving me stuck with no AC for two days in the sweltering heat. You would think they would offer me some type of discount for that reservation for giving me this faulty car but I got nothing but an apology. I ended up having to swap the car with another in which they gave me a very basic SUV and told me that was all they had at the moment. My second major issue occurred when I had to reach out to them regarding my rental charges after I returned the SUV. I called the next day after drop off and was able to speak with the manager who assured me that she would send me an itemized receipt. However, my satisfaction was short-lived when I discovered that the charges were split between two different cards despite my explicit request for them to be on one. I was upset but I decided to call back to get the issue resolved. I left a message hoping for a response but my call was completely ignored. When I checked my account there were final charges that showed up on two different cards then removed then added back when I did not authorize any of this. Determined to resolve this issue, I called the next morning at 9 am and spoke to someone. I expressed my disappointment and frustration and he told me he would have a manager call me back. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I patiently waited for an entire day, hoping for a resolution. But, as expected, no one bothered to reach out. I called back at the end of the day, they answered, took my name and then kept me on hold for an unreasonable amount of time. When they finally returned to the phone, I was met with attitudes and a complete lack of empathy. They were trying to rush me off the phone claiming that they had already sent me the bill earlier. I noticed that they had sent the updated receipt while I was left waiting on hold. It was clear that they were intentionally avoiding me and treating me as if I was the problem. They left me confused with a bunch of charges on two of my cards to only lie in my face and say the issue had already been fixed earlier. This level of disrespect was unacceptable, especially after being a loyal customer to Enterprise for over twelve years. Their fake apologies and dismissive behavior only added insult to injury. I was highly irritated because I have never experienced this type of harsh customer service at any Enterprise location. I felt deeply unsatisfied with the service I received from this rental car company. How dare they treat a customer, who had been loyal for over a decade, in such a manner? It was clear that their priorities lay elsewhere, and customer satisfaction was not one of them. I had always relied on this rental car company for their exceptional customer service, which is why I continued to choose them for the past decade. I reserved premium vehicle over the phone, and when I arrived they offered me a few vehicles to choose from. I was surprised by the choices and asked if they were the premium vehicles? Only then was I told they did not have any premium vehicles. I sure had the feeling if I hadn't asked I wouldn't have been told. i had to ask what the rate for the standard vehicle was. I ended up settling on a standard car as a didnt have much choice.. poor business not telling a customer they can have what they asked for in advance .. not a happy customer here read more

Very slow, inefficient service. Be prepared to be given the runaround and then no transportation to continue said runaround. Bring your phone charger with you while you wait car-less in Towson (b/c that's where they'll send you) in case you need to phone-a-friend for a ride home while you wait it out and wonder if the service you are having done on your car is truly worth all the drama it's taking to have a car to get around in .. simply put go elsewhere! read more

Horrible customer service by Liz. First rule of cust svc is if you're going to talk about the customer, make sure she can't hear. I reserved a SUV and I clearly heard her tell the customers before me, there were only 2 SUV's left and they were allowed to choose- no problem. Then you offered me a dirty car, stains on the seat and dirty windows Subaru Outback. Why would you offer me that? That's not good customer service and when the gentleman tried to help me you say" well that's what she reserved." I beg to differ ma'am as dirty was not an option nor would I choose that. Make sure you thoroughly check your rental before you leave the Cockeysville location. They caused me to file an insurance claim and pay $500 deductible for a scratch that could not of happened during my rental. Never had this happen for any rental at any other rental location domestic or even overseas . Take Pictures before you leave this lot. !! read more

One of the worst car rental experiences ever. Poor, inexperienced customer service. My car was in for repairs and my original rental from Enterprise had a slow leak in one of the tires. I called this branch on a Monday morning to ask about switching cars. The gentleman I spoke with mentioned that it would not be a problem. It was usually busy on Monday mornings, so he asked if I could stop in around early afternoon and they would be able to swap out the cars. When I arrived around 1PM that afternoon, there were three employees in the office. When I explained why I was there, they all looked at each other unaware of why I was there. They went on to advise me that they didn't have any cars to give out...they were one of the busiest branches and as soon as cars come in, they go out. When I asked the manager (I think it was) about why I was advised by one of the employees that this could be done, she didn't know why. She then advised that I could take the car to Mr. Tire and get it repaired and have the bill sent to them. Needless to say, I went to another Enterprise branch closer to my home and not a single problem with getting another vehicle. read more

Rented here many times and was always a pleasant experience. This last time I needed to use the "we'll pick you up" option, which I assumed meant they would drop you off after you return the car as well. The rep I dealt with at check in had an attitude because I cut the key ring off (keeping two bigs keys with the key ring and attachment in my pocket was too much, and they told me at check in just to cut it). He told me that I wouldn't be able to get a ride home because they didn't have enough staff. I ended up having to walk 4 miles home. read more

This location is great - the staff is very friendly and were extremely helpful and attentive. My car was in great condition, and they took me through the use of controls and features of the car without a problem. As a first time renter I forgot to fill up the minimal amount of gas I used, and they were understanding enough to not charge me full price. Would definitely rent here again! I was charged for full coverage at a rate of about $30 for the day (in addition to my own car insurance policy) and did not find out until I returned the car. The same rep who processed my rental was there when I returned and she apologized for the mistake. She offered me a free one day rental for next time. She gave me a card with her name on it and also said she would make a note on my account for next time in case I lost the card. Several months later, I needed a car for a 5 day rental and wanted to use it. There was no record of it on my account and I lost the card. They refused to honor it- the rep no longer worked there. After some arguing and getting ready to walk and go elsewhere, they finally capitulated and honored it. One more thing that I experienced. When they give you the sheet to note any dings or scratches on the car before you take the car- NOTE EVERY LITTLE THING. Every little ding or scratch. Just do it. I have had two experiences where I did not check the car over well enough and had to almost pay for what I'm sure was probably already there. I'm talking very minor stuff. Not worth the frustration so I now use the rental car place at Sears in Hunt Valley. They are much easier to work with. My insurance company made the reservation. SDR small damage repair called Enterprise when I was ready to be picked up. The car matched my request for a full size car and everything operated smoothly on the car. The intake at the office was smooth and the person in charge of my case was friendly and helpful despite the fact that I was mistrustful. I was able to leave the car at SDR when my own car was ready for pickup. A few days later, I received a telephone call from Enterprise telling me that all the paper work had been taken care of and I did not owe any money on the rental. I could not ask for better service. Let me start by saying I'm a fan of Enterprise, almost always renting cars from this company. Although these employees at this location were young, they were helpful. But the process seemed slow, the car I was promised needed an oil change so they gave me one I was not wild about (4 cylinder, small SUV that sounded like it had a lawnmower engine), and when I asked to add-on an E-Z Pass for the multiple tolls I would encounter in the northeast on my trip, they said that they could not sell those in local car rental locations-only at the airport locations. This is totally not true in Georgia (Peach Pass) or Florida (Sun Pass) , but maybe it's a MD rule. This was unfortunately something I had not planned for, and was an inconvenience, in terms of needing extra cash on hand and adding time on my long-distance trip. read more

Let me start off by saying that I will never be using an Enterprise again. It started a few weeks ago right after I purchased my car. I got rear-ended by a teenage girl. Luckily her insurance company was amazing, and took care of everything. They sent me to enterprise, which is fine, my parents and family use it all the time when they go away. Right off the bat things didn't go well. The driver who came to pick me up ran a curb and got a flat tire. We had to wait to be picked up, which made me even more late for work. When I got there, I was rushed to look at the car, and barely given time to look at the waiver I was signing. I was also given grief for not signing up for their $20 a day insurance plan, which just protects you from the claims they make against you. My insurance company told me not to get additional insurance, so I listened. Finally when I shut the car door it reeked of smoke. I ran inside to tell them, and they said that it was the only car they had available for me unless I wanted to pay extra. I was upset, and rightfully so, nobody should have to rent a car that smells like that. My car took much longer than the three days they originally expected, but her insurance company called me multiple times to inform me. They said they contacted enterprise a few times to update them on the rental length, which enterprise claimed they had no idea.I walked around the car often to make sure there were no scratches that somehow happened while it was in my possession. It sat in my driveway, or in a parking lot for the length of the rental. There were no obvious signs that I saw. When I turned the car in, things seemed fine at first. Then the agent said he was going to check my car out. He came in and asked for the manager and they were out there even longer. He asked me to come out and showed a dent that he found in the rear panel. He said that it looks like someone slightly opened a door into it, but he only found it when you look at it with your head tilted to the side. I had never seen it before and he spotted it rather quickly, like he knew it was there. My parents said when they've turned their cars in, nobody has ever even looked at it, or just walked quickly around the car. I was definitely targeted as a 23 year old girl. It was a car with almost 30k miles on it, and lots of previous scratches. I was very rudely talked to after that. I told him I had walked around the car and had not seen a dent before, I didn't turn my head and put it that closely to the car to see if there was a dent in it. He had told me If I had actually looked at it every day I must have been an idiot for missing that. He obviously knew it was there if he found it so quickly. He told me he was going to have to charge me a $500 deductible, then bring the car into the shop to get fixed, then maybe refund me some money if it cost less than that. I left and called them back asking for pictures which he claimed he had. The story changed and he said they only have picture of prior reported damage, so that wont help me. Right there it shows that damage could be there, but they wont photograph it unless someone reports it. He then went on to tell me that a car is a big responsibility both financially and otherwise. I tried to speak and he kept getting louder. Finally I raised my voice and said that I would like to speak and he stopped. I told him that just because I am 23, doesn't mean I don't know about responsibility. I have a college degree that I pay for, I own my own car and pay for it myself, I insure it myself, I own my own house and pay a hefty mortgage, and I am engaged and live states away from my family. I said it was disgusting that he makes those acquisitions and targets me just because of my age. I called my insurance company, and the company that rented me the car for me and they said not to pay a dime until an estimate was given. They did not believe I would get any money back, and that it is a scam and disgraceful that they would charge me that without knowing the cost of the damage. I called and spoke to the manager who was fine with waiting until he got the estimate. A few days later he called and said it would be just under $200. I agreed to pay it to just stop dealing with them. I think it was disgusting how I was treated and targeted. I've worked in retail before and if I spoke to a customer like the way I was spoken, to I would have been fired on the spot. I think it is disturbing that someone like him is in a management training position. Needless to say I will never again use Enterprise. Nor will any of my family and friends. My parents had rented a car through them for next week and have already canceled their appointment. If you treat people badly, you will lose their business. read more

the cockeysville Maryland enterprise is usually very busy and some agents are better than others...the very best is Daniel....he went out of his way to upgrade to a much better car and call in the early morning when that car had arrived ..made the entire process so easy ..just didnt say no we don't have one of those,,..if I had to suggest anything it would be to have a larger inventory of the premium cars as they tend to have more marginal SUVS for families and small economy cars that can't accommodate many suitcases....10 stars for Daniel and 4 stars for cockeysville enterprise read more
