I'm not sure why this location has bad reviews, because my experience has been nothing but excellent. The team at Enterprise in Colonial Heights has always treated me with kindness, patience, and professionalism. I've had to rent cars during some stressful moments in my life, and they've consistently made the process smooth and easy. They've gone out of their way to help me, explain things clearly, and make sure I was taken care of. Every time I walk in, they greet me with respect and never make me feel rushed or like I'm an inconvenience. That means a lot, especially when life is already chaotic. I can only speak from my own experience, but this branch has been awesome to me. No issues, no attitude, no problems -- just good people doing their jobs well. I appreciate them more than they know. NEVER AGAIN!!! Had made a reservation for a large size SUV but since I'm paying with a debit I just want to make sure I'm good to go so I went ahead and call Enterprise customer service a day or two after I made the reservation to get clearance for paying with a debit card and I was told word for word that I'm good to pay with a debit as long as the card linked to an actual bank account, so that's that. About roughly 2 weeks went by and literally 2 days before pick up I got a call to confirmed the date and time of pick up and what not and I asked again about the debit card payment and was told that I CANNOT pay with a debit card for those type of vehicles which I was told something else totally different weeks prior. So I ask what is the largest vehicle that would take a debit card for payment they said the highest will be a Standard SUV, so I wasn't going to keep on going back and forth so I said fine I'll do the standard SUV. Mind you I call like 3-4 times before pick up and they never once correct my reservation from a large SUV to a standard SUV until the day of my pick up when I have to call to the airport to see their availability and that's when one of the nice lady there updated my reservation and gave me the new total amount. Then it's time for pick up I show up at the rental place to find out there's no cars available and they trying to push me off to a truck because they don't have a standard SUV available. I told them I don't want no truck cuz if I wanted a truck i can reserved for a truck but I didn't. I wanted a SUV because of the cover trunk instead of a truck bed. They then tells me they can try and pushed back the pick up time to 1:30 and see if there's anymore return (which they don't know for sure if there's any). I was like whatever and walk away because at that point I was beyond aggravated. Then 1:15 come around I call back to check in and still nothing, they done wasted half of my day and not at any point trying to accommodate me with anything since it's their fault for giving me the wrong info (about the debit card payment) and their fault for not having a vehicle by the time of pick up and their lack of integrity. I'm just over with it so I told them to just canceled the reservation. I won't be recommending Enterprise to anyone and no longer want to be apart of their Enterprise plus member. Showed up to pick up my vehicle and the human moved it to the wrong day. Nothing anyone could do. Offered me a small pickup. Um no. Tile me to make a reservation at the airport. They couldn't help. Zero stars!! I was given a rental car because mine was in the shop. The car was filthy, smelled like a hospital (annd not in a good way) and only 1/2 full of gas. I was smoking a cigarette ready to pull off when the employe came out and demanded I exit the vehicle and told me they couldn't rent me a car at all at this location. i apologized and told him I was unaware of the no smoking policy and promised I would not smoke in the car. He stated there were signs everywhere. There was one 4x4 inch sign taped to the countertop. When I pointed out how ridiculous this was, I was asked to leave the building and was stranded, having to find my own ride. I was in no way informed of this policy prior to getting in the car. This ruined my entire day. I had to call into work and find a ride back to pick up my dented car at the shop. This is the worst rental car experience and service I have ever had. The white lady that works here customer service is trash. She's rude in person and over the phone. Every one else that works here is usually pleasant. Terrible experience. Made reservation 2 weeks prior to needing it. Got call on my way to pick-up the car at 8 a.m., saying they didn't have a vehicle for me. Waited all morning. I had to call them back around 11:30. They had an SUV, but it needed new tires. I waited all afternoon. After several calls to them checking to see what time, I could pick-up. No one could give me a time. I talked to the Manager (Kendall) with a promise she would call me with an update before they closed at 5:30 p.m. She never called me. Now mind you, now we are a day late starting our vacation. I had to call the Enterprise on S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA. They were very helpful in getting a vehicle for us, late Friday afternoon. Thank you to them for their professionalism. They called me several times during the day to let me know they were working on getting me a vehicle. read more

I recently rented a mid size SUV from Enterprise rental in Colonial Heights Va. The SUV was very very nice. It is good to know that you can purchase a vehicle from Enterprise if you want too. It came in as promised and we were very comfortable on our trip. Customer service is always at the top of the line. Brier took time with me going over the car showing me how to operate certain features on the car. she made sure I had all my questions answered before I drove off. At the end of my visit once the car was returned Alexander called to make sure I had a good trip back home with no car issues. Enterprise is a great rental place. This enterprise are liars and stealers. They stole my handicap placard and lied to my husband and I about it numerous times. Kendall was very nonchalant about it. She lied and said that the vehicle was rented out when it was sitting in the parking lot but because it was raining she didn't want to check the vehicle or her cleaning crew had already taken the property. I wish people would just be honest and if they find something that's not theirs, just turn it in. You never know what someone is going through. They stole $40.00 from me. Returned the vehicle just above the gas level I was supposed to return it at. However, they still charged me (stole) $40.00. They didn't specify what the charge was for other than that it was a mistake. They still haven't returned the stolen $40.00 to me. When I asked about reimbursement, the clerk stated I should go through my insurance company since they were the ones covering the fees. The insurance company has nothing to do with the $50.00 gas fee since I covered that with my card. It was pretty obvious that he was simply trying to deter me from pursuing the stolen money. They're just flat out dishonest. Seems they're scrapping for loose cash there and have a system for doing it. Don't use this Enterprise. Go elsewhere. read more

Can't say enough nice things about this office. We have a corporate account at the yellow and black agency across the street. And in the words of Seinfeld, that company knows how to TAKE the reservation, they don't know how to HOLD the reservation. Anyway, after leaving there with no car, I walked into Enterprise on a very busy Monday. In spite of the craziness, the good folks at Enterprise found me a vehicle and got me on my way. Upon returning, they found a problem with my billing. Some clicks on the computer and that was fixed. They even dropped me off at the shop for my own car. The rates at Enterprise are as competitive as any, and the service far better. Obviously, I highly recommend them. read more

Zero stars should be an option but since it is not 1 star is a generous substitute. I placed my reservation a month in advance of my pickup date and one day before vacation. I called two days before my pickup date to confirm and make sure all was well. My reservation and pickup time were "all set" as the polite young man explained. I arrived on the Saturday morning of my pickup about 40 minutes early ( just in case paperwork was lengthy). When I pulled up, I did not see any 5 passenger minivans on the lot as I had reserved but I just assumed it was parked in another lot. I was pleasantly greeted when I entered. There were two other customers visible at that moment. I was asked how many people would be traveling with me to which I replied 3 additional. The associate asked if we could use a smaller vehicle because they did not have any vans. This was unsettling because I had a legitimate, confirmed reservation. Of course I began the obvious round of questions and expressed my discontent. Another young man replied to my expression of frustration "We are frustrated too, but there is nothing we can do." He followed his statement with what I think was suppose to be a thought provoking analogy .." I explain to people it is like if you go to the store to get ice cream. They might be out of ice cream." My severe allergic reaction to stupidity flared and I (surprisingly calmly) explained that if I go to an ice cream polar and it is open, I would not expect it to be out if ice cream as I would not expect a car rental place to be open and have ( now 9 frustrated) customers being told you "ran out" of cars. The blank look on his face let me know that there was an unarmed player in this battle of wits so I digressed. Meanwhile, the other associate is scrambling to calm down the growing tempers. I was ( at some point later) offered a 4 door pickup truck. The associate said it was reported stolen so it may be a few minutes before they got it cleared for rental. There were so many things unsettling about that statement; however, I followed him out to see the vehicle that was loaded with someone's personal belongings, food, plastic bins and an open bed on the truck where he suggested we throw our luggage ( what about rain and how do we tie it down to drive the highways). The associate did kindly share with me that I could go get bungee cords from Walmart and return them when we came back. That was the final unavailing of this establishments integrity. As I exited the now crowded lobby with no satisfied faces, I thanked them for their time and decided to rest my thoughts here. This story could have given more horrible details but I will let the one star say the rest. Get it together people! read more

Horrible experince. I was in a rental due to my car being totaled. I had a 5 day rental and my insurance ofice was closed, i reached out to a Manger at the col heights location to see if i could extend the car 1 day until i got in touch with my insurance company. the manager told that she would extend it for 1 day, 24 hours. This was on a monday, and on tuesday morning i was checking my email and received a email @ 9AM from enterprise saying i needed to reach out to the local office within 24 hours or the car was going to be picked up. I went out side at 10AM the car was gone. She never gave me the time frame she promised me, nor did she extend the rental 24 hrs. If she had told me the car needed to be back and she could not have extended, i would have gladly brought the car back that night. she stated she tried to call me and wasnt able to reach me. this is false because the sales department had no problem reaching me trying to sale me a car. I have a recorded conversation also, I have been trying to reach out to enterprise for a few weeks now and i have escalated my complant. NOBODY has reached out to me. I received a bill today for $67. and they took my $50 deposit, with no explanation read more

On 08/13/2020 I went to Enterprise Rent-A Car on 455 Charles H. Dimmock Hwy Colonial Heights, VA 23834 to pick up a rental reservation I made the previous evening. Not my first time renting from this particular Enterprise Rent-A-Car and didn't think anything else about it once I got confirmation on the rental via email with confirmation # 187108. Once arriving at Enterprise I handed the employee who works there my credit card and drivers license and he asked me to show proof of where I worked. I asked him what did I need to do to prove where I worked. The Enterprise employee said I could show him an old pay check stub. I didn't have an old paycheck stub in my possession so the same employee tells me to prove I live at the address on my drivers license. I asked how would I prove theist the gentleman and he replied I could show him two bills that I pay. I informed the employee that I travelled about 10-15 miles to pick up the rental car and I didn't randomly have two bills that were sent in the mail on me. I as told I couldn't pick up my reservation until I proved where I worked and where I lived. This should have been in the online contract that I would need these items instead they pop it up at the last minute which is inconvenient and disrespectful to returning customers. read more

I have always used enterprise. Went to hertz only because AAA gave me a discount. And hertz never had a vehicle for the day I booked it months in advance. So I really wish I had went with enterprise. Called the day of and every where was out and the guy from enterprise called me to let me know and apologized that he was out of vehicles. Avoid hertz and go with enterprise. read more

This is cliche but is very fitting if I could give zero stars that would be the appropriate rating. If I would have foreseen all the problems I would encounter at the Enterprise in Colonial Height,VA location, I would have made reservations at a different location. I filed an insurance claim due to being an innocent victim of a crime and I woke up to damage to my vehicle on 12/7/22. I received a reservation number to pick up a rental that day, when I got to the location the employee at the front desk claimed they contacted me and left a voicemail stating that they had no available cars until Monday (12/12/22). That should've been my 1st red flag because there was NO MISSED CALL OR VOICEMAIL on my phone. My boyfriend is on the insurance policy with me and reached out to the insurance agent and Enterprise and they informed him that I could return the next day 12/8/22 at noon and they would then have a rental available. I arrived the next day at noon and thats when I was told that I was on a DNR (do not rent) list because I had a balance due of $315.00 from 2015. I was very confused by this because I have NEVER rented a car. I was given a number to call once I spoke with a representative she could not give me any information regarding this charge and just took it off my account. I was then told at Enterprise because of this occurring they have a policy where I would still be banned from renting for 30 days. I would have to speak with the Area Manager Keenan Lambert in order for this to be overrode and the only mode of contact was via email. So now this is day 2 that I have left this location without receiving a rental. I reached out to the Area Manager Keenan Lambert via email with NO RESPONSE that day. My boyfriend called with an attempt to just change the rental over to his name once he made it into town for driving 18 wheelers long distance and was told that he could not do that unless the Area Manager approves that also. He was told to call back the next morning to speak with a manager. I am now on day 3 (12/9/22) my boyfriend calls this morning, I was not anywhere near him as he was driving his truck back to VA from MD, but he calls me after to inform me that he was now added to a DNR list because of his association with my account. Now they are banning and blocking him from a rental and I still haven't had a response back from the Area Manager. Around 11am the Area Manager Keenan Lambert sent me a email asking for my reservation number I responded immediately. Then at 1pm I receive a phone call from the Area Manager Keenan Lambert, he then informs me that he was going to approve me at first to getting a rental but now he is not because my boyfriend called and was rude to the branch manager and not only is he banning me from renting from this location he is banning me from the locations that are in the radius of where I leave which are Petersburg and Chester, VA. I was very upset because I did not understand how 1. I had nothing to do with the phone call or was not apart or near him when he made the call and 2. I am being held accountable for actions that were not my own. I have been nothing but respectful and patient throughout this whole ordeal. I just wanted to get a rental for me and my child to be safe to ride in being that my damaged car is my only mode of transportation. I contacted corporate spoke with a woman name Shonda she was NO HELP I was told whatever the Area Manager decision was that they do not override. I was not given any further assistance and told to have a nice day. I am beyond upset and honestly wish there was something else that I could do because this whole situation is a nightmare. I feel 100% victimized over again and I would hope no one else has to go through this. read more

They were busy when I picked up and checked in. All of the employees had a good disposition. The young lady was able to assist a rather disgruntled customer quickly and without returning the attitude she was given, which was surprising. Car was clean and drove well. Great location. I booked a economy car about a month ahead of when I needed it. When I got there I only had to wait a few minutes. The employee showed me the car that I reserved. He asked me if it was okay and when I was unsure if it was going to be big enough for our trip he went and got the keys of the other cars that were available. I was able to look in the trunks and sit in the ones I were interested in. I ended nup going with a full size car, so glad I did. The employee was super helpful and did not once rush me to pick a car. I also got a percentage off for booking so far in advance and the employee was able to add another coupon I had that I thought I could only use at booking time and when I dropped the car off at the end of our trip it took me about 5 minutes. I rented a car for a trip to my home state of South Carolina. From the moment I stepped into the building, I was greeted and assisted promptly. The staff was professional, knowledgable and answered questions that I had. The check-out was about ten minutes, which was not long at all. The Chevy Impala that I rented was clean and all of the gadgets (lights, radio, ac, etc.) were in excellent working condition. The car ride was smooth with no issues. During the check-in, there were people ahead of me, however, it did not take long because there was sufficient staff. My payment and paperwork was ready in a matter of minutes. I was offered a ride to my residence and the gentleman that drove me there was courteous. The whole process was impressive and one of the best experiences that I have ever had at a car rental place. I surely would rent here again and I recommend this location if you want excellent service. read more
