Beware of this company's rental practice to tourist's with residency outside of Ireland. Even if you buy the most comprehensive insurance, it does NOT cover a long list of services. These include engine failure, the clutch, tires and electrical system. I paid over $200 for the most comprehensive insurance the agent said they offered and an additional fee for roadside assistance. We spent an entire day stranded in Dundalk, with little or no compassion from management. The tow truck driver claimed "this happens all the time." I've been billed $1,700 for the clutch and $144 for a replacement rental, which I never signed or initialed for. read more

The counter people at Dublin Airport (Amanda?) was very friendly. Our VW was fine and the check in process was great. I opted not to use the insurance from my Costco credit card (I'd read that attempting to use the credit card insurance caused delays). I actually said, " I want the most comprehensive insurance you offer." We drove across Ireland on the freeway to Galway. Then on the way to the Cliffs of Moher. the clutch pedal went to the floorboard and it was impossible to shift. Eventually, we were towed back to Galway and provided a replacement vehicle. While waiting in the Galway facility, we overheard the staff taking about our VW saying, "yeah, it's another VW with the "slave thing" failure." I'm 72, and my son is 49, at NO time did we race the engine and dump the clutch. My son actually owns a VW cc with a stick. After returning to California, I received an email from Aaron informing us that clutches were not covered and I owed $2600. Later Victoria, sent me an email confirming that she would be our contact person. I asked to see a copy of the mechanic's repair paperwork and NEVER heard back from Victoria or Aaron. My take away, TOURISTS SHOULD NEVER RENT from Enterprise/Alamo in Ireland. This organization preys on TOURISTS who cannot easily protest UNFAIR practices. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got back from vacation, rented a car for a week. Purchased extra insurance on the car as well. Got a flat tire and repaired it. Enterprise charged me $ 4,177.87 in addition to the weekly rental fee!! The car was not involved in any accident and was returned on time, without incident. Currently in the dispute process, tons of fun after vacation. Never ever again will I rent a car or anything else from Enterprise. We spent two weeks in Ireland driving around the entire country. We rented a car here for our trip. For the first fine days, we had tire problems every day. We ended up with two flat tires and had to spend time on our vacation getting them replaced. Then when we got back, they told us we were being charged for them. Somehow they get to keep a brand new tire that we had to pay for. After we dropped off the car, we had to wait half an hour for a shuttle to come and pick us up to take us to the terminal. There must have been 4 shuttles for the other terminal before one came for us. We were there more than 2 hours before our flight and ended up getting to our gate right as they were starting to board. I'm an executive member with National, a subsidiary of Enterprise, and I rent all over the world from them. The Dublin airport did me a dirty and snuck in 2 upsells without discussing them. I blindly signed and initialed because I trust the brand and they've never screwed me before. Upon returning the car and getting the final bill I noticed all the upsales and when I called them out on it they told me I signed for it and there was no way they could refund me. Super shady. I'm not sure why this place has such bad ratings. My experience from start to finish was wonderful. I pre booked my reservation online and got all the extra coverage they offered because of how I herd driving in a different country is. It was my first time driving right hand drive car and driving on the left side of the road so I was like, I rather have my self covered than deal with it after the fact. I get to the counter and there was a couple of people in front of me, but it went fast because there was I believe three people processing reservations. I worked with a wonderful person named Gilly. She was so polite and felt genuine to me and wanted to help me etc. She pulled up my reservation and noticed that she said I didn't get any coverage. She did her spiel of upwelling me but I'm 100% sure I made the booking with all the extra coverage included. She then asked a co-worker and they sorted it out immediately. There was no major hold on my card because I got all the extra coverage they offered which to me was worth it. The only charge on my card was what my reservation cost that I was aware before getting to the counter which I was ok with. Returning the car was no problem either. The person who checked me in walked around the car and said everything looked good. He asked how my rental was and was there any issues. Again he felt genuine when he asked those questions to me. We then took a shuttle back to the terminal to catch our flight. The shuttle driver was also wonderful and cracked a few jokes etc with our short drive to the terminal. Everything about my experience with Enterprise here was honestly the best I had in a long time. I will for sure be renting from them again when I'm in Dublin no problems at all. After reading lots of extremely negative reviews about car rentals in Ireland I found a thread on TripAdvisor recommending Enterprise. Based on reviews I saw they have no issue accepting CDW (collision damage waiver) provided by your credit card company (according to reviews of other companies this can be quite a challenge to have accepted). This was something I wanted to take advantage of to avoid extra insurance fees and high holds on my card. My experience here was wonderful they gave me no issues accepting my CDW and also explained everything clearly and went over the car with me prior to me taking it. While returning the car I was unable to refill the fuel as the station nearby would not accept any of the cards I tried. They gave me no issues with refueling the car on site after the fact! Wonderful service! I would highly recommend this location if looking for a rental in Ireland. read more

Approach with caution! I found out in the office that the insurance coverage I'd purchased from Rentalcover ( which has always been accepted elsewhere) would NOT be accepted. I either had to produce a signed letter from my credit card company or buy the CDW from Enterprise. I realized then how they suck in the customers: low price than competitors on line, take the money quickly, then put the squeeze on the jet-lagged customer in the office where they can't walk away. After the initial frustration and stress, I must say I got a good upgrade. Drop off was easy. So not 100% negative. But I wouldn't deal with them again. read more

Rented through them in April of this year. Was told to download the M50 toll app in case we had any tolls to pay and that we could go to any gas station to pay. We checked our app daily and it showed $0 due. At the end of our trip we went to the gas station and asked what was due on our rental car since our App said $0, they said it didnt show any tolls but we could guess an amount!!! returned the car to dublin airport enterprise and again asked the enterprise employee what we owed and he looked at the app and said dont worry about it it shows $0. Four weeks later I get a bill from Enterprise with toll charges and a additional enterprise fee of 4 times the charges as well. I reach out to them to explain what happened and asked for a reduction in their admin fees, they said no. So due to lack of customer service on their part we owe quadruple the tolls that we asked numerous times to pay when we were there. Bad show Enterprise. read more

The Enterprise team at the Dublin Airport completely turned around my opinion of the company. They were fast, efficient, friendly, and actually (GASP!) went out and CHECKED the car over for any damage before just giving us a form to sign. The whole experience was good, the woman at the main desk was cheerful and pleasant, the staff at the pick up point was cheerful and friendly, and the drivers to/from the two points were, you guessed it, cheerful and chatty. DO NOT USE!!! So bad on many accounts -- the only company I've ever actually felt was purposely trying to scam me out of huge sums of money. I chose Dooley because they advertised as being a small family-owned business (but they're owned by Enterprise and all of my communication ended up through Enterprise...) and being transparent, no hidden fees or insurance, etc. I couldn't believe the prices, so I called multiple times to confirm that, yes, insurance was covered, no I would not have to pay anything when I arrived at the airport, etc. So I booked it. During the booking process there were some hidden fees, but nothing too bad. When we arrived, we were told that the insurance we paid for was not adequate and we either needed to spend several hundred more on insurance and (to not pay thousands more) accept a 1600 Euro deductible, should anything go wrong. We were exhausted and fed up and finally agreed, after being assured in writing that if we got in an accident that cost less than $1600, we'd be refunded the balance. When we were parked one day, a car hit our driver-side mirror, cracking the glass. When we reported the damages, it was estimated to cost a few hundred, but we'd get the rest refunded. That was a year and a half ago. I have it in writing, on paper and emails from Enterprise, that they owe me at least $600 (which is ridiculous, but better than nothing) and that they would pay by September 2018. Well, it's now November 2019. Periodically, I'd check in with "where's my check" and they'd respond "we're so sorry and don't know what went wrong but we will send it directly!" and then radio silence... I've never seen evidence of the check actually being cut, and have ample evidence of their responsibility to pay the $600. When I threaten legal action, they simply pretend nothing has happened. It's soooo sleezy. And the reality is, I can't really take legal action on them in Ireland, so they've successfully called my bluff. So, my only hope is to blast my story in the hopes that they'll be embarrassed and make it right. read more

Enterprise charged our credit card the maximum deductible (€1750), and promise to send us their repair quotes 'in 4 to 6 weeks'. Waiting to see whether they give any of that money back. I was very pleased overall with Enterprise at Dublin Airport. They had very friendly staff, quick service, and I was driving the car out of the lot in very short order. I was also able to waive the CDW using my World Mastercard, and didn't require any letter. We were not pressured into buying excess insurance. If you are from the USA and want to rent from here, it is very simple. We got the smallest car possible to save on gas and to drive the narrow roads. We also got a gps (nominal fee) which was very handy, showing the speed limits as well as speed cameras. This was mostly accurate, but sometimes there was a contradiction with the road signs. Overall, the gps was very helpful. Upon return of the car, it was a simple task of driving back to the lot. A staff person came out, did a quick check over and we signed a few things and got shuttled back to the airport. We had driven the car for 2 days and it had a lot of plant residue from driving on the narrow country roads, but this was not a problem. Overall we were extremely pleased. read more

AVOID!!!! Rented a vehicle from this location in June 2019. During our trip we got a flat tire and someone came to fix it. He gave us an invoice and told us to give it to the employee when we returned the vehicle. When we brought the vehicle back, we were asked how everything was and we informed the employee that we got a flat tire and someone had come to fix it and gave us this invoice to give. The employee asked us if we paid the mechanic who came out to fix the tire and we said no. He then told us that it must be because the rental company gives him so much business he did it for free. My husband and I were surprised by this but said okay. Moving forward, 2 months later I received an email saying I need to pay for the tire replacement. I emailed back explaining the above and asked that someone please get in touch with me as I live in Canada and cannot call any of the numbers provided. Weeks later, I receive a call from Norman Ferguson saying I owe money for the tire and I again explain my situation. I even called customer support after I received the first email and was told they have no right to come after this payment months later. Anyways, Norman is very rude and tells me that the employee never said that (but he wasn't there and my husband and I were both witness to the employee saying don't worry about it, WHY ELSE WOULDNT WE JUST PAY THEN AND THERE). Norman says they will investigate further and call me back. Fast forward several months, I get an email in October saying there must have been a miscommunication and I need to pay for the tire. Correspondence with the Dublin airport location has been awful, nobody wants to take initiative to mediate the situation but instead just emails me every few months without any real explanation. It's been 5 months since my trip and I'm still dealing with this. I can't even submit this to my insurance to be reimbursed because it's been so long since my trip. This location needs to get themselves organized. If someone would have caught their mistake early and contacted me within a month about the error I would have paid and submitted the claim to my insurance. However, I don't feel that it's justified asking me to pay months after I've rented this vehicle. I will make sure to inform everyone I know about the poor practices of this business and I will not be renting from enterprise again. read more

Nice enough at the desk, but was given a hard sell on their optional insurance. If you have to refuse the optional insurance more than five times it's excessive. It was excessive. Enterprise is comprised of liars and crooks. I am a longtime National Executive Elite member, and today was the last day I will be associated with this company. I cashed in 3 of my "free" days, rented a gps, and made the mistake of paying the fuel option. We received our car and got out on the road when I noticed the tank was empty. I paid 50 euros to fill it, which is less than the 77 euros Enterprise charged me for the fuel option. We returned the rental empty, so I would warn the next driver to beware, but when we returned the vehicle they "found" a dent slightly larger than their gauge. I was subsequently charged 350 euros as the deductible for the insurance. I can wait 90 days and then reach out to them to see if the cost of repair was less than my 350 euros and be reimbursed. Any euro, cent, or dollar Enterprise can steal from you, will be stolen. Do not rent from Enterprise. read more

Lovely staff. Ensured we knew how to get to the highway on our way out and gave a map for easy return. We upped to the diesel and were very impressed. Drove from Dublin to Wexford to Waterford to Limerick to the cliffs of Moher to Galway to Cong and back to Dublin all on 3/4 tank of diesel. You don't want a big car on those little roads! Agree with some of the other reviews. We use enterprise a lot but got the hard sell on buying additional insurance - we already have an annual car rental policy that has served as well in the past but we were being convinced it was not going to cover all eventualities. We didn't get the extra insurance but it was hard to say no. The car itself was great, but a lot of the features to connect your phone to the system were not working. When we returned the car the staff were friendly, though after asking if there was anything that could be improved & we mentioned the hard sell on the up-sell, it was shrugged off as just personal approaches to selling. It is a shame as it jeopardises the brand across all their locations & we'll be looking around at others next time. read more

I agree with review dated 29/10/2015 from Brian F., I arrived at 6am at Dublin airport after a long flight overnight and was told by Enterprise Rent-a-Car that I had NO insurance booked and had to pay eur320 for cover. I didn't have that amount and thus had to take a bus from the airport to my destination. On checking with their head office in Manchester they told me that this was purely 'HARD SELL' and that I was covered and they would reimburse my money. I was irate and when I eventually spoke with the Manager Owen Hayes who agreed that this 'seemed strange' and would check with the staff. He had just returned from Boston and didn't 'really know the situation'. He NEVER returned my call. Whatever about HARD SELL, I was totally enraged with the lies and deceit. The pickup experience was not too bad, other than standing in line before the shuttle bus just to be told that we could go right down to the bus because we had pre-booked through National. The real problem came when returning the car. They found scratches on the bottom of the front grille - basically normal road wear that can come from bottoming out a little when hitting a dip in the road (of which there are many in Ireland) - and proceeded to tell me I had to pay the 350 euro deductible. I was, of course, needing to get to the airport, so there was no option but to sign the paperwork and go, but I held out the hope that the minor little scratches wouldn't cost the whole deductible to fix and that I might get some money back later. Well, I got the notice today that they claim it cost nearly 400 Euro to fix the scratches, so needless to say I will never rent from Enterprise again. read more

Everything was ok till I found the car with a scratch on the back shield right above the left back wheel. The guys decided to charge me 100 € for that... on a full insurance! Good job guys! First time in Ireland to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Was not given a pre-inspection with the service rep which is a first for me. I did a walk around and didn't notice anything so off we went. A day later we noticed a big dent under the passenger door that was only noticed because my wife dropped her purse. Upon return, advised the inspector that the damage was pre-existing. He checked the system and found no damage on the vehicles report. It was a large enough dent that I certainly would have noticed had I cause the damage and we hadn't driven more than few KM's before finding the damage. Enterprise created a damage claim and immediately charged my CC the full 1600 dollar deductible. I have tried to speak with someone at Enterprise to dispute the claim however I cannot seem to get anyone to call me at a reasonable hour or leave me a toll free number. In fact the only person I spoke with is a customer service rep from North America asking me how I enjoyed my rental using multiple choice answers at my disposal. I was proud of myself for keeping calm during this conversation as it obviously was not her fault. She assured someone would call me asap yet 48 hours have passed and no call. I have started a dispute with my CC company however I still have to cover the 2500$ CDN charge in the meantime. I'm thoroughly disgusted by the process and am extremely bitter I was tried and found guilty by a 20 something year old while I was in a rush to catch an international flight. Buyer beware, get down on your hands and knees to inspect every single part of your rental. Even take photos with your phone. Enterprise, for as large and successful company as it is, cares only about nickels and dimes. Congrats Enterprise on ruining another vacation. My initial experience with the staff at the front desk of the Airport was good. However, upon return I feel like I was scammed. They claimed I had caused a small scratch on the back bumper. The only driving I conducted in the car was from the airport to the hotel and back. The car, without question, never touched a single thing. I attempted to rationally discuss this with them to no avail and instead was forced to sign a bunch of papers before I could get to the airport where I was now running late for an international flight. They ended up charging my credit card 850 euro (well over $1,000). I travel a lot - typically use Hertz, Budget or Avis. I have never had an experience like this. Renter beware. read more

This was the best car hire experience I've had in a long time. I use rental companies most weeks and am frequently disappointed by the service, particularly at this time of the year. The team at Enterprise, Dublin Airport are second to none. Friendly, well informed about their product and vehicles, professional and welcoming.
