The whole hotel looked dated but clean. The TV was set up with Direct TV. That meant no network TV. We missed out on our weekly show. After driving 10 hours it was sad. Barely any options for gf and df for breakfast. Scrambled eggs were cold and flavorless. Oatmeal in a pouch only that you prepare yourself. Bananas were good. There was NO other option. So disappointing! This could easily be better.

It's a BEAUTIFUL old building. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and you can take a really cool tour and check out the old cells, and what not. We were in town for less than 24 hours, and only at the hotel to sleep - so we only got to "play" around for like an hour, but we thoroughly enjoyed that hour walking around checking things out. The new owners (just took it over 2 weeks before we stayed last weekend) were super friendly, and were asking questions to see what they could change or do better. I LOVE when people solicit feedback, that means they are trying and that they really care. So that was awesome! Really our ONLY feedback to them was: Pillows. Different varieties (the existing ones were really flat). Other than that - everything was GREAT! They had offered breakfast options (basic cereal, fruit, muffins/bagels) but i'm not a morning person and i don't eat breakfast, so i skipped. But my parents sat and hung out for like 30 minutes. I went and hit the local Poke-stops in the town square. We stayed in the Opera room - which is the biggest, and it's on the 3rd floor. We were very comfortable! The room had a really nice ambiance, seemed like new carpet, beds were comfy, bathrooms were right outside the door.. and they kept the lights on in the hallway so we knew where we were. Everything was VERY clean. We have some family in the area, this was our first time here. While we'd heard some local "ghost" stories about this place - we did NOT have any experiences.. and we were definitely loking for them. So i'm not sure those old stories are true. I didn't get any vibes off this place. While the cells are real.. the electric chair is NOT! Just an FYI - we were told by the owner that it was picked up at a local fair as a prop for "entertainment" purposes - it is not real. The only thing i can think of is for anyone that's wheelchair bound, I don't believe there's any way for you to get upstairs. There's no elevator that I'm aware of, and the stairs are narrow/steep. Other than that one detail - I recommend to everyone!! Highly recommended!!! I can't wait to stay here again!
