I felt compelled to come here and post this when seeing the negative reviews. But i had an accident that totaled my car, they were the ONLY Enterprise open in STL on Sunday. I contacted them and was in a car within ~1 hr total, a totally last minute reservation, handled extremely well. The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. My insurance company was completely screwing me over with rental coverage. But the people at this location called and updated me on remaining coverage, worked with me in renting on a day to day basis, understood and sympathized with me more than EITHER insurance company i was dealing with. I would recommend this location to any of my friends if they came in town. Thanks guys and i will certainly be back, or at least send someone your way! read more

I came here to pick up a rental car for my trip to Chicago. The staff at this location are super-friendly, efficient, and professional. During my stay, there was a slight change in the supply of rental cars from this place; since I needed an AWD for my trip, I was given a ride by Mike to a different location to pick up my car, and in that location, I got my Jeep Compass 4WD in less than five minutes! The car was what I needed for my trip, and thanks to Mike for making the process fast and efficient. Instead of waiting at the first location for the delivery of my rental car, he went above and beyond and took me to a different location to get the car that I needed. I highly recommend this place for your rental needs while in STL! If they don't have your car here, they will get you to their sister location to get it! BEWARE: Downtown St Louis 2233 Washington Ave Saint Louis, MO 63103 My experience with this location was horrible. Leo the Assistant Manager who advised me he was actually the store manager gave me such a hard time and refused to rent to me. I've always used Enterprise on every vacation, trip, or when having car issues and never had not one single issue. I was definitely racially profiled at this location and at one point was told in order to rent a car I would need to do 14 days up front. I've never heard of that. The way I was treated was very hurtful and stressful. I left there feeling depleted and embarrassed. I flew from Charlotte NC to St Louis to visit with my daughter who's in her first year of the Air Force for Thanksgiving. Our Thanksgiving was ruined because we were unable to shop for food the proper way due to not having a vehicle. We ended up using Go Puff which costed a pretty penny and wasn't able to get everything that we needed for dinner. I've never been treated so badly. I have put in a complaint with Customer Service to speak with the area manager. I also left a message for the district manager but haven't received a call back yet. I can't let this type of racism happen to anyone else. I'm going all the way with this complaint, it bothers me to know that a person will pick and choose who to publicly give service to based on skin color and gender. I am not okay with this. Terrible experience. Waited on hold to book which was successful. Told to call the actual pick-up place which I did to ask them to pick me up. Talked to a nice guy for ten minutes to plan the pick up. Then he asked me to hold and came back and said no cars until 4pm. It was 10am!!! Told to call three other local stores, none of which had a car. What's the point? Don't waste an hour on the phone with a no-car Rental Car company that doesn't even know if they have cars when they're wasting your time! Bad bad bad. read more

I had car theft and my insurance covered a rental up to a certain point so decided to use it. There was miscommunication across the board with this place. First I requested an economy car but they didn't have it so they gave me a really nice SUV supposedly at the same rate as the economy. Told me they put me on a wait list for the economy car and that it wouldn't be more than a couple days, never got that call. I was also not given a good explanation of the costs/insurance coverage. Told I was only covered a up to a certain date and then I'd pay out of pocket. But even then it would be at the lower insurance rate. When that day came I made sure to return it, but when I got there to drop it off they sold me on keeping the same car until they got the economy and that it would be 1-2 days at the SUV rate. Still never got a call and decided to return it because my whole goal was not to pay too much out of pocket. Then the worst part was when I returned it for good I was misinformed that I would be paying the total amount on my credit card then receive a credit for the insurance once they received it from insurance. That was not the case and ended up paying for a super nice rental way too long at way too high of a price. Feel so stupid I could have just Ubered everywhere for less. read more

We were worried that they were going to overbook cars on the day before the eclipse as many had feared around the country; however, our rental was still there and it wasn't going anywhere. Super fast personal service They even offered to drop us off to our next destination instead of walking or public transit, but we actually were only walking a few blocks away. read more

I rent cars a lot while I travel, and this has been one if the nicer car rental places I've been to. Finding it wasn't problem, as there's a huge logo and sign out front. Easy parking. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. Filling out paperwork and doing the payments was easy. The only thing I didn't like was the wait. They said they had cars available, but after doing the paperwork, I had to wait 20 minutes to finally get one. Overall though, I'd still use this place first every time I'm inSTL. read more

I do not recommend using this location. It's in a run-down part of town and looks run-down itself. They didn't have cars ready and made many of us customers wait about 30 mins each, just to get a car. We had a reservation for an exact time and date however despite all that, we had to wait 30 mins or so. They said this was because the cars had just been returned and they were having to clean them all. They weren't nice about telling us. Just matter of fact, like they could care less if we waited or not. I went outside to stroll my baby and saw the person cleaning was texting on his phone. Another person was just leaning against the wall. I asked him about my wait and he said they sold a lot of cars because of COVID and can't get any bought again. And he told me he just drives cars from one spot to another. You would think they would have him help clean instead of waiting against the wall with 10 customers inside waiting for a car...! My baby was getting cranky and I went in to find out what was happening with our car and tell them what I just observed. The lady wasn't nice and was a bit defensive about their slowness. Plus the car smelled like smoke. At least they did give us an upgrade. But please, don't use this location. read more

Awful customer service, vehicles are never available, and they clearly do not value the time of patrons which is evident by the dozen + potential renters waiting in the lobby unassisted. The branch manager, Darnell was extremely rude to me, because he failed to communicate that my insurance did not cover a certain amount, he was trying to make it seem like it's my fault for not knowing that none of their cars are less than $30 a day. When I told him, I was never communicate with about exactly how much it was. He told me I should've read the email. Also, I was assured to not be charged for my return day if I brought it back at nine I came back at nine and they still tried to charge me for that same day. Whole time I'm here I'm on the line with my insurance company. Because it's issues with them as well, he's interrupting the conversation saying that he didn't like my assertiveness. All I wanted to know was, was it a mixup with the amount that they were saying I had to pay, which I paid it soon as it was asked. I do not recommend them if you are using insurance. I only dealt with two other people and they were understanding and decent. It's asinine that the branch manager does not have any customer service skills. read more

My company set up my long-term rental car with this location because it was the closest one to me open on a Sunday aside from the airport locale. Yeah, we're not doing this again. My travel agent had set a pick up time of noon, telling me that I could change it as the day drew near and I had more concrete plans. It was a really simple plan actually. Pick up a rental in KY and drop it off at this location in STL. Pick up a new car here and use that one for the next couple weeks. Two different accounts. Two different bills. I called the day before and let them know it was going to be more between 2-3 PM before I got there with the 7 hour drive. They said they would note it in the account. It didn't happen, and I got slightly chastised because they "thought I wasn't going to show". But at least I got a car. Some thoughts: 1) The guys had an incredibly difficult time understanding the car switch. The girl on duty, fortunately, didn't. 2) They really don't know their car fleet. With driving 6,000 miles each month, I'd like to know average mpg. Yes, there is a 8-9 mpg difference between the regular Hyundai Elantra and their hatchback. 3) Don't take my first rental away when I haven't transferred my stuff from that rental car to this new one. It's like a nurse coming in to give immunizations when the doctor hasn't even seen the patient yet. 4) You tell me that you guys don't have any other cars other than the hatchbacks in this class in the office, yet the guy outside checking the car out tells me that you guys probably do. 5) I felt like they were more concerned about getting out of there than being concerned if I was satisfied with the car. The return went a lot more smoothly than the pick up. And they did drop me off, like how they promise to (believe it or not, some locations try to get out of this). But hilariously, before I left, the guy asked me "what the best part of the Enterprise experience was?". I don't know which was more uncomfortable: the blank look I gave him resulting him saying "it was that bad?!" resulting in me trying to awkwardly synopsis all of the above into a run-on sentence. read more

Every time I'm in here, there are 4+ customers waiting and 1 employee. That employee is often on the phone. Occasionally I see another employee stare at me from behind the counter and then go back to sitting at the desk. Enterprise, please staff this location better. read more

Ever since August 2020. this particular Enterprise location has really taken a turn for the worse. The office manager, if there is one, should be replaced or fired. Cars are not available at the scheduled time, if they are available at all. They are totally understaffed, undertrained, and not very courteous. Sometimes, it takes them 20 minutes or longer before they come outside (customers are not allowed inside the office) to check you in for a rental, or to process a simple return. If your car is not going to be ready at the scheduled time, they do not inform you of that; you simply have to wait and hop if you will even get a car to rent. This is despite that their reservation system has already confirmed your reservation in advance. The rental process, if they even have a car for you, takes much longer than any car rental company, even for Enterprise Members or for frequent renters. Single-day rentals now exceed $70 per day for compacts. Hertz has filed for bankruptcy, and I think Enterprise will be next, as they are not changing with the times. Friendly staff, but they are located in way too remote of a location (their "downtown" location seems to be on the outskirts), especially from the train station. The car they gave me had a dented fender, a dirty interior and the previous driver had smoked it in. They did not have anything else available. So to get me on my way they waived the requirement to refill the tank before I returned the car. However, I was only going to have the car for 24 hours and a few miles so that did not compensate much for the odorous interior. If I come back to St. Louis and need a car, I will try the other Enterprise location in town. read more

Best car rental experience I've ever had. They only had a minivan which was going to be $130/day (I rented for 2 days) but when I came back in to return it, the manager charged me the price for a small SUV which was half of the cost per day (because they only had the minivan when I was renting, I presume). Once I returned the car, he asked if one of their staff could give me a ride somewhere nearby, which was a welcome surprise since I needed to go about a mile and a half down the road to the Red Lion hotel, and so I didn't have to pay for an Uber. As is typical for these small locations. We waited for more than half and hour to pick up a car which had already been reserved. Facing a 7+. hour drive we hoped to make a prompt 11am start as soon as the location opened. There were several people in front t of us, we were number three in line. That notwithstanding it still took that long to get our rental. Based on that hyper inefficiency, this location gets one star. Friendly but inefficient staff. read more

This was a bad choice during COVID-19 virus pandemic that is currently going on this place offers me a filthy vehicle and says it's all they have I hadn't had a problem here before so I stick around and wait for a cleaner car. I stayed at the downtown facility until they closed at 5pm then they brought a tiny crossover out that was still dirty so I had to go because time was winding down so I accept the vehicle. I don't know what happen to this location but their use to b better customer service and care here but not anymore seems like they don't care about anything I won't be renting here again thanks but no thank you enterprise I'm very shocked at how careless they are now. read more

This enterprise does not honor reservations. Delayed 2 plus hours and tried to pass off an economy car as a standard. Horrible customer service. Was told the car was being cleaned, when in fact they had no cars and had to go to another enterprise just to wait all over again. I realized it the next day but thank God I didn't drive much. The other thing is the agent said I could return the car to the airport and he would waive the fee. Just terrible. No consistency between employees. Not upfront about costs. One guy says, "$160, with a $100 deposit!" Next guy puts a clipboard on my lap and tells me to initial in these 6 places. When I go to return the car, I find out that I signed up for THEIR insurance coverage because mine wasn't sufficient, which my $100 deposit conveniently covers! So deceptive! No way I would have rented this car had I known the final cost would be this much. I could have bought a plane ticket! Their "Customer Relations" approach was typical and scripted, and at no point did I feel like I was interacting with an empathetic human being. It was so maddening to have this Manager keep insisting to me how much they value Customer Service and how much she wants to see me leave with a smile on my face. What do I have to smile about?! I just found out that I initialed away $100! I have to pay rent in 3 days!!! "Other than the miscommunication, was the rest of your experience satisfactory?" TWO people actually said this to me! First let me start off with applauding the Washington Ave location for great customer service. But after that is where it all goes downhill. First I made my reservation online since the app was offering a $9.99 per day deal for the weekend and even rescheduled to a later time in the morning and thought if I got there early I'd be able to breeze in and out, well they didn't have any vehicles, period. After a half hour of waiting they shuttle us down to the next location about two miles down since they do have vehicles. So I get there and they have no cars, but a large family van( keep in mind I'm there on personal business and hope to have a nice means of transportation). But the catch is if I take the van there is no up charge, "sir, we don't have the midsize you asked for but here is a van for no extra charge" I said no, and I'd be willing to wait. It there were no other cars, but there was a Truck. I drive a truck at home so it was gonna be a good transition. But there is a catch! The old bait and switch! So what was originally gonna be a good deal upgrade on a weekend for $45! Ended up costing double and then, to find out that they don't offer an after hours drop off, unless you pay a bump of $100 extra and take the vehicle to the airport. Not sure what kind of family business practices up charging but I'm reconsidering ever using Enterprise in the future. read more

Then I waited another 40 minutes in their office for a vehicle that should've been available when they should've picked me up. With 40 years of renting vehicles this was my worst experience. Made a reservation one month in advance, got there at my pickup time and waited 20 minutes before seeing a single enterprise rep. When John pulled up my reservation he said they didn't have the intermediate SUV for me, they had one with a flat tire but had no idea when it would be ready. Offered me a full sized SUV for an additional $100 for their mistake and lack of communication. Finally gave me a discount since it's not my problem they didn't have what I booked and had no time frame available for repairs. Now I also have to pay a ton of money on gas for a Nissan Armada THAT I DIDN'T WANT. Got the car with a quarter tank of gas, was given no information on gas requirements and I didn't get my rental agreement until 20 minutes after departing when I noticed he marked that the car had a full tank of gas. Upon return date, they changed my return time without communication, I was driving from Florida and couldn't drive fast enough to get there 3 hours earlier than planned. Was informed I'd be charged for another day because THEY changed the drop off time. After a very stern conversation with Amanda, she waived the additional day charge. Returned the car and was charged to fill the tank completely when I picked it up with a quarter tank. I'm pretty go with the flow but this is obscene. Will be on the phone to get my money back for filling the tank. Find a different location and make sure you receive/review rental agreement before leaving the site. WORST EXPERIENCE I had a trip planned to go to Florida with 15 people. We rented a van MONTHS in advance then called a week before the trip to make sure everything was ok and we were told it was fine. 5:30pm the night before the trip we get a call that the van is gone, there are NO OTHER VANS anywhere and they would not be paying for a different arrangement. Everyone involved in the trip called every number we could get a hold of and was sent on a wild goose chase of "call local" "call national" "I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do" Now, here we are 15 people THE DAY we leave for the trip without a car, possibly having to cancel the trip we have spent months planning, with a rented house that is nonrefundable and ALL THANKS TO ENTERPRISE SO TO ANYONE ELSE TRYING TO USE ENTERPRISE DO NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE A LYING TERRIBLE BUSINESS THAT LOVES TO RUIN PEOPLES TRIPS!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
