Not sure if the shipping companies are not picking them up or what the issue is but, if you are paying extra for overnight shipping, just make sure. Don't be surprised if your package sits there for 2-3 days after you dropped it off. Some days, they close at 4.30-5p. Convenient, high-traffic location, best if you drop off between 10-1 pm. Not for you if you are a small biz trying to get your packages before the end of the day. They have a great selection of boxes of all sizes and do a fine job at packaging.

Now, this would be acceptable if at least you could access your PO Box after 4:30 but instead, the whole building is closed. Other post offices stay open for longer time in the business section. When that closes, you can still access the PO Box areas and retrieve envelop mail. That isn't the case here in Hidalgo. Another reason why this is not an ideal post office box of choice is that on Saturdays, the opening business hours behind the counter (where you pick up bigger boxes) are past 10:00 AM. The building opens at 8, but if you have a package to pick up or ship, you can't conduct business with an actual person until post 10:00AM. This makes the post office unsuitable for business transactions in most cases. Because Hidalgo is a small town, I don't foresee this changing.

Any snacks they sell here, if you're interested in chips or a candy bar are almost always past their expectation date: stale chips or old tasting candy bars. They do have a notary which comes in handy. Since the location is convenient, I drop off U.S. mail off. Shipping is expensive here, but regular dropping off of letters for U.S. Postal is fine. They sell stamps which comes in handy, too.
