She was sold on the place and Shai's pleasant attitude and willingness to work with her and her fiancée's vision for the reception. Her reception was delayed due to covid, Shai left, and she had to work with new management/coordinator (Steve). Steve made it known that he did not like working wedding receptions and seemed to blame Shai that there were wedding receptions in the facility. He mentioned this to me as we were setting up the day before our daughter's big day. I had an inkling prior to the day that he was not going to be pleasant to work with based on conversations my daughter had with him to confirm everything. She was disappointed he replaced Shai. She was told she could not do this or that (no potted plants on the floor, no lighting effects on walls - she had to hire someone else to do this) and they had already taken their $5000 deposit. The venue offers use of rectangular tables, but my daughter wanted to have both round and rectangular, so she rented additional round tables. As we started to set up the tables, I asked him where the rest of the rectangular tables were because he only had 5 on a cart ready for set up. He proceeded to tell me he didn't know how many were needed, he said he wasn't told. I responded back, what do you mean you weren't told, you provided the layout on pdf that my daughter shared with the rest of us to use for set up! We, not him, then had to get the rest of the tables from the kitchen area after he told us where to get them. Another uncalled for frustration was table rental pick up. Steve told my daughter that the tables and chairs had to be removed from the floor after party and set aside in the pick up area so the table/chair rental folks could pick them up the following Sunday morning. This was fine, my daughter made arrangements to hire a cleanup team to do this. Two days before the event, the table/chair rental company called Steve to confirm drop off and pick up, Steve then tells the table/chair rental company that they had to pick up the tables and chairs Saturday night. Hello Steve! The wedding reception contract was from 5pm Saturday - 12 midnight! So had to deal with this. There were many little things, no effort at all was made by him to offer information. Our daughter's wedding coordinator was not happy with his lack of effort to help. Luckily, everything fell into place and the celebration was a success. The venue is unique and has so much potential. But there were just so many negative comments made by him that it is not worth to time and energy to have to deal with.He was not helpful, not conscientious, had bad attitude. Lazy. Too bad because the venue is really awesome and he represents the place.

We were having an afternoon wedding and were trying to keep costs low. The reception was only 3.5 hours long... I needed a good price in order to actually book someone. I already had a few quotes and wasn't impressed with any of the prices, so what did I have to lose? I went to their website to do some research and gave them a call. I got Brett, who was incredibly friendly over the phone. He totally understood our situation about having a DJ but gave us hope that there's good DJs out there willing to give a good price on a Sunday wedding. We met him at a local Starbucks to sign the agreement. He went over every section of the contract in detail so we completely understood what he was responsible for and what we were responsible for. And he was incredibly friendly. His personality type gets along with everyone. I love people like that. He accepted payment through Paypal, which was incredibly convenient for us. His website was really intuitive, with detailed forms for us to fill out with details about the ceremony, the timeline of the reception and even a music form so we could choose what songs we wanted him to play. On one of the forms, I made it clear what music I didn't want to hear and he totally stuck with that at the reception. One thing I totally appreciated was how Brett was willing to do the outdoor music preceding the ceremony for no extra charge. We were having an extremely short ceremony, so I just wanted music to lead us down the aisle. We offered to pay extra but he said it wasn't a big deal. How sweet is that? Up until the day of the wedding, Brett stayed in perfect contact with me. He even called me the day of the wedding to make sure I was staying calm (rain on my wedding day when the ceremony was supposed to be outside... of course I wasn't calm.) But it was a nice gesture. The ceremony was moved inside and Brett was awesome with the change of plans. He still played our processional music, jazzy music during dinner and finally dance music after dinner was served. One detail we totally loved was that Brett wore a pink and purple tie so he matched our wedding colors! Small detail that made a big difference. Everyone told me they loved our DJ. Some people even thought he was a personal friend of ours because he was so friendly and personable while on the mic. He played the exact music that I wanted to hear at my reception... classic rock with current dance hits mixed in. It's like he knew me my whole life with the way he nailed my musical preferences. He did perfect. I couldn't say enough nice things about MotorCityHDJ. They turned us from an "on the fence" couple to "we totally needed a DJ" couple.

Nothing over the top here. Plain and simply the best banquet food I have had in many years. Chicken and beef were tender and juicy. Pasta was hot and the sauce had a little kick to it. Our wedding was at a our…read morefriend's farm which meant we had to bring in vendors to cover everything--tables and chairs, DJs, caterers, bars, etc etc. Being that I plan events for a living I didn't really need anyone to coordinate all that for me, I'm used to managing a few different vendors, juggling contacts, etc. However, that was the last thing I wanted to do on my actual wedding day, so I decided to hire a day of coordinator who could be our point person through it all. Tammara made the whole process so smooth. I provided all my vendor contacts and she checked in with them the week of to make sure everything was set. She sent me worksheets which made the timeline and the ceremony structure easy to plan. I went into the day feeling stressed (of course! I stress about everything!) but also confident in knowing the day was going to go great! The day of Tammara and Stephanie (one of her coordinators) were excellent. We had a bit of rain and they came up with contingency plans for the ceremony should we need them. Luckily the rain stayed at a drizzle so we moved forward with the outdoor proceedings but I was grateful for their back up all the same. They made sure all the chairs from the ceremony were moved into the reception barn, they even moved decorations from outside into the reception area to help dress it up during the dinner and dancing (a touch I didn't even consider but appreciated as they looked fantastic in the photos). They helped make sure the catering, bar and all the other odds and ends else went smoothly. They even cleaned up post wedding and loaded all the gifts and some decor pieces in my car. The next day when my husband and I went back to the space to finish clean up we were delighted to find that we didn't have to do a darn thing other than load up the rest of the boxes (that they had filled with the rest of the wedding decor and misc. wedding items in the car) and the linens (that they had placed in the rental bags for us) and everything was done. After all the set up, the stress leading up to it and of course all the fun from the day of I was absolutely exhausted the day after and was so grateful for the easy clean up that I cried tears of relief on my drive back home. Also, and most importantly for many, her prices are incredibly reasonable. Especially given the time she spends with each client and how well she does her job. There are several packages that work in levels of affordability and come with different hours she and her team commits to your event. Something for everyone and your needs. I would hire her again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend that you do too, should you be in the market for an event coordinator. I knew I was going to need some help when I booked my venue where I did (worst ever), I didn't realize it was going to be so easy to have another 'me' there setting everything up. I didn't cry the day before or the day of the wedding. I think I was more in shock than anything, but as soon as I walked into the reception area and saw what had been put together in such a small period of time, I was filled with emotion. After only a bit of email communication on how I would like everything set up, I walked into my own head. Everything was laid out even more perfect than I could imagine and everything was ready to go. I was incredibly satisfied with the work she did and couldn't of asked for a better DOC.
