No one really offers those characters, so I was excited to see them on the Epic Character Parties website. Bummer.... the owner let me know that Luigi and Mario had been damaged in another event and she couldn't get me a replacement in time, but offered Princess Peach and Yoshi instead. Can I tell you the screams of excitement from kids 4 - 14 when they walked through the door. They even worked with an awkward venue... we had them join us for the end of our Pump It Up Party. They were on time, they looked great, they had great energy, and they were amazing on the fly. My son loves to talk to characters, and they never broke character. Our Rumi character was 45 mins late, which pushed my party longer, then took another 15 minutes to set up because her speaker wasn't connecting. She had games and my children got burnt out because she kept going without a break. I had to ask her to take a break so they could open presents. Then when leaving, she was parked and kids were nearby and saw her rip her wig off as soon as she got in her car. I had parents complain. read more

I rely heavily on reviews when choosing products and services, though I don't often leave them myself. In this case, however, I felt it was important to share our experience. Unfortunately, our experience with Epic Characters was very disappointing. The Grinch character we hired appeared unprepared and extremely awkward to the point we questioned whether he was under the influence of something. Most of the participation had to be prompted and encouraged by us. Although the performer brought an autograph photo pack, he did not sign or distribute the photos during the party and then left without taking the photo pack with him. The photos themselves prominently featured the company's website and phone number, which made them feel more like advertisements than keepsakes. To ensure the children still had something meaningful to take home, we cut off the advertisements and wrote notes on the photos ourselves. Additionally, the performer took out his cell phone during the party and left it visible, which drew attention from the children and disrupted the experience. The costume also appeared low quality, with noticeable gaps that broke character. Overall, the service lacked professionalism, preparation, and engagement. Given the cost, it did not meet reasonable expectations, and I would not recommend this company. For comparison, we have previously hired characters from Royal Entertainers and had consistently excellent experiences. Unfortunately, they did not have The Grinch available on this occasion, which is why we tried a different company. read more

My soon to be 3 year old daughter wanted nothing more than to have Batman come to her birthday party. I have never booked a special guest like this before but knew it had to be good as to not disappoint. I looked around the Internet and called a few places but ultimately stumbled upon Epic Character Parties and so I called them. From the moment I spoke to someone on the phone to when "Batman" arrived it was easy. It wasn't cheap, but it was easy. Batman had amazing energy, danced, made jokes and wasn't scary to the kids. I had seen some of the performers from Epic at one of their charity events they do for the community, and my children adored them. I wanted to book them immediately for my daughters birthday party but before i could, i lost their business card. Luckily for me i ended up finding them online. I hired Belle for my Daughters birthday party. She was very stunning and the minute she walked into the door all the children believed that she was Belle. But what was most surprising was her amazing singing ability, all the grown ups were very impressed with her and were moved by her singing during the story. She also made them learn these princess dance steps and spent quality one on one time with every single girl and boy at the party. She made this event truly epic. After that amazing experience with Belle we ended up hiring Mario recently for our nephews birthday party as a present for him. He was so excited to see Mario, he ended following Mario during the whole event pretending to be Luigi. All the children loved Mario and believed he was the real Mario. When it was nearing time for my niece's big "7th Birthday Bash", my aunt was stressing out looking for something that would make this party forever memorable. My aunt is not very tech savvy so she asked for my assistance (Even though I live in LA and they are in San Diego) in searching the web to find someone to come to the party dressed as Princess Tiana. (Side note - Princess Tiana is, as far as I know, the only African-American Disney princess and my niece who is 3/4 African-American strongly identifies with her: "She's a princess and she looks like me!") I called another party character provider whom I won't name here. The only African-American actress employed with their company was booked for the date we needed. They offered to send a Caucasian actress with body paint to play Princess Tiana. I was appalled, my niece is 6, not blind! I shared my concerns in finding the perfect Princess Tiana for my niece's party with a coworker. She told me that she also had family in San Diego and that they had used Epic Character parties for a party. I immediately looked them up online and contacted them hoping that it wasn't too short notice as the party was in 5 days. My daughter just turned 7 and we hired Elsa from the movie Frozen. So incredibly amazing! She had all of the children amazed & in awe. They all sang along with her when she sang, she read a story, got up & danced. Every time we've ever used them parents can't get over how "Disney" these characters are. From the communication from start to finish, on time & professional - I would never think to go elsewhere. Peter Pan is apparently a hard character to come by in Los Angeles. We were so happy to find ECP in San Diego! Peter came to our daughter's "Neverland" 3rd birthday party and boy was he a hit! We booked him for 2 hours which I would definitely recommend. 90 minutes probably would have been ok but 1 hour would definitely not been long enough, and honestly, our daughter would have spent the whole day with him if she could have!!! Anyway, our daughter is a huge fan of everything Peter Pan and he definitely didn't disappoint! They drove up to LA from San Diego, so they were about 30 minutes late (they got lost... it happens!) but with a few over the phone instructions made it in plenty of time! Peter just "appeared" on the party scene and my daughter's face was lit up from that point on. He looked just like the photos, and came with a "coordinator" which was great so that someone else could help him with music, payment, etc. Peter engaged the kids in a story time with interjected songs (he definitely wasn't the best singer ever, but definitely wasn't terrible, and the kids were so enamored that it was clearly over looked) and taught the kids a dance that my daughter still remembers parts of even a week later. He then played some cute age appropriate games with the kids and then signed pictures for everyone. He sang happy birthday and gave our daughter a little present before flying back to neverland. What makes me the most happy is that my daughter REALLY thought it was Peter Pan. He stayed totally in character, complete with the Peter stances and giggle, and knew everything there was to know about the story/movie. She was sad when he had to leave, especially since they were now on a first name basis, and is already asking for Peter to come to her 4th birthday. Thanks Epic Character Parties for making her birthday magical. They were professional and had the true honesty that only children can appreciate! It's not all about the Princesses. This is the place to call if you need a superhero, too! Captain America came to my son's Avengers-themed first birthday party this past January. My son may be too young to let me know what he really thought about his special guest, but photos of how he couldn't take his eyes off of him were priceless! The constant baby jaw drop said it all. He must have been mesmerized by Captain America's super power-ness, as were our friends and family. We planned my son's big party (first and only big bash perhaps ever) at the last minute, and Epic Character Parties thankfully responded to our email request. They were clear in their instructions and expectations, and we were happy with the outcome. We thought the kids that attended the party already looked cool with the superhero costumes they all wore, but Captain America looked even COOLER. Just ask the older girls who apparently ended up with a crush on him. The only minor thing was Captain America was a little on the soft-spoken side, but everyone who wanted to listen just drew in closer to hear his story. He did a little dance routine with the little kids afterward, and even signed autographs (adults got in line for this one, too). For budget purposes, keep in mind that there is an extra fee to have him travel down to San Diego from LA. It was well worth it! read more

Spiderman and his crew of three assistants were right on time, called me when they were out front so we could coordinate the surprise for my son. I would love to write a review for this company but unfortunately cannot because THEY DIDN'T SHOW. I was a part of a committee trying to provide some entertainment for 150 children at a local child development center. We had just one caveat, we didn't have a budget. After calling dozens of companies, we found what we thought to be our knight in shining armor. Our search ceased as we stumbled upon this little treasure of a company (or so we thought). Upon further conversations, it was decided that we would pay for the gas of several princess characters to come from L.A. and possibly one from San Diego. THE DAY BEFORE the event an email was sent to the owner to make sure all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed. The response stated that Peter Pan was booked for a commercial and couldn't make it and then something about hoping the event is still successful. Jaw dropped, panic mode set in. We have 150 children we promised princesses and less than 24 hours to figure something out. Thank you Epic Character Parties for promising such a generous donation but unfortunately when you don't follow through things become infinitely worse. One of the moms tracked down a Snow White Costume and bribed her children to pretend she wasn't their mom but the real Snow White... EPIC FAILURE. read more

The staff was very professional, they answered all my questions prior to the booking, were on time, had a great demeanor and princess jasmine was just as pictured (nice make up and costume). The kids loved the story (all though it did go a little long, mostly due to the kids interrupting and asking questions). My daughter loved the songs and dancing (even though the princess forgot a couple of words). The autographs and pictures were great, even the adults wanted one. She stayed and sang happy birthday and gave her a gift, which was another great photo opportunity. Overall I would give 5 stars, I felt like it was a great value for the price and I know I am a very difficult customer to please, so they did extremely well.
