They have offered to reimburse me for medical expenses. The comment below from the new owners is accurate, and it was a relief to hear the changes they are making when they called me. It's been an about a month, I've thought long and hard about this post. On Monday, June 17th I dropped my dog off at daycare. A place he has been going (and loved) for years. At 1pm I got a call from the employee there, saying that my dog was attacked, and that I needed to get him immediately, and bring him to the vet. They thought he had 1 wound.. he had 3 (3 bad ones, but I keep finding scabs from others). He ended up with 10 staples, an oral antibiotic, and injection antibiotics for 21 days. This happened on a Monday, by Thursday I knew something was very wrong and took him back to my Amazing Vet. The wound that they didn't staple (they try not to close dog bites because their mouths are gross) was infected beyond what the oral antibiotics could handle, and had become much worse. They were considering surgery to remove the infection and close the wound... Thankfully they tried another route first, and the injection antibiotics did the trick. He is still wearing a shirt to protect the wounds, he is still on anti inflammation medication, he is still recovering. Playtime Pet Resort (formerly Play All Day) in Exeter, does not have a bite policy. And, because my baby tried to run away from the dogs attacking him, they do not have clear video footage of the attack. They say they can't identify the dogs that attacked him (the vet confirmed it was more than 1). They attempted to placate me by saying "it happened right at the feet of the employee"... unfortunately, the other DOGS (plural), were not expelled. Those dogs that attacked mine are still there and there is nothing I can do about it. Please be aware. My boy loved it there for the last 4 years (split between Hampton and Exeter). I loved the convenience of them being in town, and picking up a tired dog at the end of the day. However, he will never go back. It is no longer a safe space for him. Please read all reviews for this business AND Play All Day (Exeter),before choosing the best place for your dog. I hope this will prevent any other families from experiencing an "incident" like this.

Before the visit, Kara the owner came to my house to meet me and my dogs and totally put me at ease. Then I met Morgan who dog sat for us. She's unreliable, rude and unprofessional and hides behind email replies even when you say please call me. INSTEAD, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING The ROVER app to find a local verified RELIABLE pet caregiver to come to your home or to take in your pet while you're at work or on vacation.. we're VERY happy with the pet professional we found on ROVER who is also local and are delighted to give them out repeat business. I took my two dogs to The Barking Dog to be boarded for their first time for three days. After I called they did post one that included my pups but I had been told that there would be one a day and the video had only a single clip of them. My dogs come from a shelter and I needed to know that they were getting out to play with other dogs and people and not just being cooped up in their 'condo'. When I picked them up they gave me a report on how they did in the pool and during playtime with a picture on each and they had been given a free bath so they smelled great. I understand that videos are a pain to post but that was my big hang up. I was upset when I arrived because I didn't even know for sure whether or not they had been given bedding. I was never shown where they were actually going to stay after it was set up and the other dogs I saw during the tour either had their own bedding or did not have much. I would take my dogs here again only on the contingency that videos would actually be posted and I had verification that they were given bedding. Otherwise, I would have absolutely brought bedding rather than just two measly blankets if I knew that might be the case. My dogs are so precious to me and I just needed a little bit more reassurance without feeling like there was some dishonesty happening. A place like The Barking Dog is difficult to maintain and dog hair is a pain to clean. I am very grateful for all the work the staff does and the time they take to ensure they get exercise and socialization. Thank you for taking care of Emmie and Myson. My dog stayed here for four nights and unfortunately came home covered in feces and urine. He is…read moreonly four months old and, when we booked his stay, we specifically communicated that he needed to be fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner. According to his Paw Report, he was only fed five times during his entire four-night stay. He should have been fed approximately 15 times. The amount of food that was returned to us made it very clear that he had not been fed anywhere near what we had provided or instructed. As a four-month-old puppy, this was extremely upsetting to see. Unfortunately, that was not the only concerning issue. My parents' two intact male dogs stayed at the facility during the same period. One came home with extremely inflamed and infected testicles. I understand that this is a sensitive detail, but it is important to mention because this is actually the second time this has happened to one of their dogs after staying at this facility. The first occurrence was earlier this year, and we initially assumed it was an isolated incident. After it happened again, we became much more concerned. We do not know the cause, and I don't want to speculate, but we have questions about the cleaning products or whether floors and surfaces are being allowed to fully dry before dogs are put back into the area. Both my parents and I attempted to contact the facility to speak with a manager and simply understand what happened. I spoke with a gentleman, I believe his name was Tyler, for quite some time and made it very clear that I was not looking to cause an issue. I simply wanted answers and an explanation. I was told that a manager would contact me the following day. No one ever did. My parents also attempted to follow up and were unable to get answers. Our veterinarian actually recommended that we share our experience because of the infection. What makes this particularly frustrating is that the concerns started from the beginning, with the number of add-ons and packages presented when booking and deciding what level of care your dog receives. It felt like the focus was on upselling services rather than making sure the basic needs of the dogs were being met. I would never feel comfortable boarding my dog here again. Four nights should not result in a four-month-old puppy coming home covered in urine and feces and apparently receiving only a fraction of the food he was supposed to receive. Combined with the lack of communication and the medical issue involving my parents' dogs, this experience has completely destroyed our trust in the facility.
