Even as an American who didn't get all the local reference I found it to be a great show, and much more affordable compared to many of the alternatives. Additionally, the venue is small enough any seat you buy will give you a good view.

Finally a good theater near me up towards Halloway/Highgate. The previous nearest decent one was The Bicycle in Kilburn and that was a pain beyond pains to get to. There's not really a lot around the place apart from the slightly gangsta Halloway Road so be prepared to hunt for a decent preplay boozer or just get a bus/tube from Camden or Highbury+Islington. The theatre itself is part of an old warehouse but very intimate, appearing to have multiple levels on the outside with a large room and stage on the inside. The stage seemed to be quite big with one side of the room flanked by a bar. We had free tickets to "Office Party" (the nearest thing to an office party we had this year, yes I'm looking at you NHS!) which was an interactive play where the action happens around you and on the two platforms at either end of the theatre room. Without wishing to give too much away there were party games, high drama and screams of "Oh my! That's a girl!?". Certainly worth going to and more fun than most of the actual office parties I've been to in a venue I shall be looking at more.

It has a lot of slapstick jokes and cheap comedy but also has a crazy plotline that looks like a hodgepodge of plots from more famous movies or forms of entertainment. There was a segment that used a section of Greta Thunberg's speech which was comical in it's appearance. It also uses a lot of famous tunes but replaces the lyrics to match the plot, which results in a lot of original laughter. The beginning of the show was a bit slow and I had to admit it was a bit hard to follow at first, but the second half was really entertaining.

It is really easy to miss, as even the sign is hardly not visible, and it is a really tiny theatre, so even the entrace does not give it away. I passed by the entrance a few times until I finally found it. There is a tiny reception on the entrance, and then a bar as you go downstairs on your right. The theatre is straight as you enter on your right. It is a tiny tiny theatre, with just 60 seats. So I felt like I was watching a private performance. Plus the musical and the overall performance of the two actors that conform the whole cast, plus the pianist, was really good, so it ended being a real treat. Btw, the musical is on until 30th April, so I would recommend it as a different plan for this Easter hols. I would suggest not to sit on the back right corner, next to the stairs, as there is a metal door right next to these seats on the corner, that leads directly onto the street. There was a lot of sound coming from this door at times (even some guys pissing on the door at one point half-way through the performance!!), which was a nuisance. Also, you may struggle if you are very tall. I am not that tall (173cm) but I still struggled on my seat a little bit, and my legs could not fit very well.

It's also worth travelling to from outside the area - the village of Carshalton is drop-dead gorgeous - real picture postcard stuff in its centre so make a day of it. The nearest rail station is Carshalton, although Carshalton Beeches and Wallington are not too far either. The earlier reviewer got the station details wrong by not mentioning the nearest station of all! There is a Thai restaurant (separate but within the same building).

We were so bummed that it ended its run in the West End because it was so well done. We actually scheduled this trip around the play lol! My heart sank when I saw how many teenagers were milling around the lobby area because it was a bunch of school groups. Unlike in the US, they didn't attend the matinee showing but the evening one. This is the one area that I feel like the US does better - as a high school student, we only ever attended matinee plays or musicals w/school; of course, I went to evening productions w/my friends and family but it wasn't with a school group. As you would expect, they were just loud over every action, especially the jump scares. I felt sorry for the chaperones who really tried to get their kids to quiet down. Honestly, they ruined the experience of what should have been a very atmospheric and spooky play. It didn't help that the theatre sold these bags of candy and ice cream pops so during the second act, crumpling noises from the bags. And adults got these too, it wasn't just the kids. It was so annoying because you couldn't hear the dialogue due to all the crumpling. To the managers of this theatre, I realize that you need to fill every seat and make your money through the concession stands and have school groups but you're ruining the experience of your patrons and disrespectful to the acts/actors by how you're organizing it. Why can't you limit the school group attendance to the matinee showing - I can't imagine that it's easy and good for the kids to be at the play when they were mostly bussed in on a school night.

I came here to see The Rocky Horror Picture show, it was my first time visiting this theatre…read more It has three levels for the seats, so it's a very tall setup with the stage down below from the top. I had a walk around all three levels and the stage was in full view no matter where you sat thankfully. Obviously from the upper circle you are looking down on the show verses at it from the lower level. Seats were the standard style of being placed together as close as possible, so don't expect lots of leg room, but it's bearable. The sound on the other hand was incredible, the live band playing throughout could be heard loud and clear as well as everything being said on stage. The main thing that impressed me here was the quality of the production, this is not your community theatre house, this is west end quality here. That goes from the talent on stage to their costumes and stage design. I can't wait to return.

Glad I went on Groupon prices though, not sure it's worth full price especially for the 'top price' tickets! Anyway. It is a really cute, cosy theatre and the staff were friendly enough. When we first walked in we thought it was a cafe, so we left again to get some alcohol elsewhere before the show, only to find that the downstairs cocktail bar was members only. Having decided that pre-theatre coffee wasn't the worst thing in the world, we were informed by the staff member behind the counter that actually the cafe closed at 5.30 and all they sold in the evening was alcohol. There was no bar sign, price list or anything, only a few bottles up on a shelf within the cafe decor, but it was a nice surprise. And they had Rekorderlig cider, which is a favourite of mine :) The theatre was really well decorated inside, and added to the eerie atmosphere of the play. Unfortunately, there were a few instances that rather ruined the suspense - at one stage you could clearly hear someone practising singing scales very loudly elsewhere in the building, and quite close to the end of the show, as the tension was building, someone opened the entry door at the back and a shaft of light cut the tension into tiny pieces, along with the quick chat a couple of staff members had through the door. We could also hear the staff chatting outside during the performance, so the walls must be pretty thin! Which is a shame really as Ghost Stories should be quite an immersive production. Overall though, not bad.

Good location. Coming out at 11:45pm, there's a nightclub next door which still had long queues of people waiting to get in. The crowd here was perfectly fine, but just be a little bit careful as you get close to the station, the path isn't as well lit up. If I was alone, I would be nervous and avoid that station road this late at night.

I like this teeny weeny theatre…read more It is under the arches, right under Charring cross station, so you can expect some rumbling from the trains overhead... this actually added to the atmosphere on our visit as the show was Lost Boys, and is set in WWI, so the rumbling trains seemed like distant gun fire... Good good: * It is small, but that means everyone can see easily * There is plenty of leg room * The loos weren't disgusting (I normally hate theatre loos!) Less good: * The ice-cream isn't amazing * The aforementioned train noise...I think if it was a different production, that would be really annoying.
