She has helped me grow and mature in my marriage and has given me various tools and resources to achieve effective communication with my husband. Genevieve is incredibly empathetic, kind, warm, and accommodating. She is flexible when it comes to scheduling and very responsive to emails and phone calls. She saved my mental health during COVID and I cannot thank her enough! I highly recommend Genevieve Altwer as she is simply amazing. A professional therapist who puts her clients first, makes them feel heard and understood, and provides incredible customer service to all her clients. Thank you, Genevieve!

This is a long overdue endorsement of Genevieve Altwer, LMFT. I have been a client of hers for 3…read moreyears now and it has made all the difference in my life. I often thank her for saving me and she is always quick to reply, "Mark, you are the one that has done the work". Although this may be true, she has been my guide to do the "right" work so that ultimately I could process life's struggles in a better way and find the peace and grace inside my being that I always wanted. I have been a firefighter for 18 years and I have seen a lot of tragedy in that time. Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, Genny served in law enforcement for 13 years. Knowing this fact about her immediately garnered my attention because I knew she understood the realities of my occupation. I had seen a number of therapists prior but just never felt that rapport I had with Genny from our very first phone conversation. It was natural, organic and without pressure. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I really did not want to start up with therapy again but knew I needed to ask for help. I believe that me finding her was not by accident, just as I believe that you reading this endorsement is not coincidental. She may not be the right therapist for you, but then again, maybe she is the one. For me, I reached out to her to simply assist me with PTSD related to 911 calls I had experienced. And we have definitely tended to those incidents and the trauma. But what I came to discover was that I had a lot of layers to uncover and work on in my own personal life. That has made all the difference. There has never been any pressure to talk about any specific facets of my life. I tell my story and she guides me through to help present perspective so that I may find the solution. You cannot control your environment and the people in it many times. But you can choose to reach out for help, put the work into you and ultimately find yourself in a better state of grace despite all that life throws our way. My hope is that by sharing my story and work with Genevieve Altwer, LMFT, it can help save one life. If it does, then it will have been worth it. Take care of you. Mark.

I would describe the session as both powerful and supportive. I left feeling more certain and confident about my next steps, especially in understanding my relationship and dynamics with my father. That sense of safety really allowed me to engage with the work in a meaningful way. What stood out most was the clarity I gained. It helped me better understand underlying family dynamics and patterns that I hadn't fully seen before. It was absolutely worth my time, and I would do it again.

I feel badly for all the people who've had bad experiences donating their vehicles…read more Every charity on Yelp has bad reviews and low star scores from people who've donated their vehicles and didn't understand who's liable for the vehicle after that, nor who's responsibility it is to transfer ownership. The truth is, it's not really the charity's fault. When you donate, (or even sell) a vehicle, YOU must fill out a form through the DMV. If you sell it, you can hope the buyer will do that, but if they don't, it will still be in your name and your responsibility. Even if you sell it to a junk yard, assuming it will never run again, if you don't take it out of your name by filing with the DMV, and someone gets it running again, it could mean trouble for you. So whether you sell, junk, or donate a vehicle, the DMV holds YOU responsible until YOU fill out a form and submit it saying you no longer own that vehicle. Really, it's a bad policy of the DMVs to not have an online form and make it easier. There are some states where they accept a mailed in form, yet others you have to go in person. Regardless, this is not the charity's fault. Yes, the Hope contact person is almost always out, on vacation, away from the office, etc. but this is a charitable organization, they might be a volunteer. I was able to purchase an excellent vehicle and they gave me a good price, as it was going to a single mom of three. So the charity and I both were greatly donated by a wealthy family's decision to donate the vehicle instead of selling it themselves. If you're able to donate your vehicle, you should!

Dr. Dufford returned my call promptly and he was very kind and understanding to my situation as usual. Sadly, Dr. Dufford was not able to fit me in as a returning patient at the time that I called, Dr. Dufford instead gave me a referral to two other Psychologists that specialize in treating the Complex PTSD that I suffer from and was recently diagnosed with. Dr. Michelle Chabbot was the Psychologist that I first reached out to following the multiple traumatic events that led to my Complex PTSD diagnoses and that caused my PTSD Panic Attack. I study Psychology myself, and I was very shaken when I contacted Dr. Chabbot, as I'd never experienced at PTSD Panic Attack before, and I never even knew that someone could suffer from something as terrible as a PTSD Panic Attack. Dr. Chabbot answered the phone immediately, and she was kind and caring enough to take the time to help me immediately. She even answered some emergency questions that I had regarding my recent Complex PTSD diagnoses and the PTSD Panic Attack that I suffered. Dr. Chabbot did all of this for me during her time off on the weekend, when she was out of town on vacation. Talking with Dr. Chabbot, meant so very much to me. I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Chabbot and I immediately knew that I was in good hands with regards to finding help to treat my Complex PTSD Disability. I'll be continuing my treatment with Dr. Chabbot moving forward, and I'll be sure to update my review along the way as well. I can tell Dr. Chabbot is an extremely gifted and knowledgeable Psychologist, and she is exceptionally knowledgeable and gifted in the area of PTSD especially. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Dr. Chabbot/Dr. Dufford, if you are ever in need. I also urge anyone reading this to reach out to Dr. Dufford/Dr. Chabbot if you are in any need of mental healthcare. It's vital to seek the aid of a Psychologist if you've ever experienced going through a traumatic life event (such as a car accident, workplace discrimination, domestic violence, Ableist bullying, really anything that happens that is traumatic in life, can potentially lead to PTSD I'm told. On top of this, in my own personal experience, PTSD appears to me to be a self fueling condition/ mental illness/disability, meaning that PTSD can worsen over time, if left untreated. What this means is that, it's vital to seek the help of a qualified mental healthcare professional immediately following a traumatic life event. If one doesn't immediately get the treatment that one needs, ones PTSD could quickly worsen, that and one could easily develop "layers" of PTSD, from multiple traumatic events as well. In addition to this, PTSD can also VERY QUICKLY develop into a life threatening condition/mental illness/disability, so please don't ever hesitate to get seek immediate help. Even if you just suspect you might need help, then immediately seek out that help as your mental health can quickly worsen, leaving you in a life threatening situation.
