I would recommend you do research before you leave your child there for any camp. The person running the camps should not be allowed to be around children. This was my first time going horseback riding and Amanda and Ryan made sure that me and my family was safe and felt comfortable on the horses. When we first arrived, we were able to walk the farm, and Amanda showed us the proper way to feed the horses with the carrots and apples. We had a blast. My son and I recently came to Equestrian Quest Stables on a mommy/son trip as my son wanted to ride a horse. We did the beginner trail ride and Ryan (our guide) and his wife were so nice and boosted my son and my own confidence for never riding a horse. We had so much fun, and the property and horses were beautiful and so glad we chose Equestrian Quest to take us on our first adventure. I texted, no response. I emailed. No response. When they finally got back to me, I answered all of their questions and then no response. They answered a month later and asked the same questions. The review I'm leaving them: We arrived at 1:20pm for our 1:30pm reservation. They weren't ready for us but suggested we give their horses some treats while we waited and said it would take about 15 minutes to get the horses ready. My son and I are both experienced riders so this sounded reasonable. 35 minutes later we were mounted and ready to hit the trail. But there's no trail. You're just riding in loops around their property. Around the barn, around the ring, around the pool, under and around some paddocks and trees. Our guide spent the whole time looking at his phone and smoking his cigarette, to the point that he walked his horse into a tree twice. We stopped frequently so he could return text messages, dismount to retrieve his fallen sunglasses, towel, water bottle, and phone. An older woman boarder was following us and another woman was following our group in a golf cart. The boarder's horse spooked twice when the golf cart ran over fallen branches. About 35 minutes into one of the many loops around their place (yes it was getting a bit monotonous) the guide suggested we canter. The elderly woman was not confident she would be able to handle that but the guide said she'd be fine. Off we took and off she fell. Where she laid in the dirt motionless for 5 minutes... during that time I suggested someone call 911... nobody would so I did. After being on the phone with 911 for several minutes she hopped up and proclaimed she was fine but I wasn't sure - could be adrenaline. My son and I had both already dismounted and once the guide walked back toward us I handed him both our reins and said we would be leaving. 0/10 would not recommend... read more

First, let me start by saying that I typically only give good reviews but felt that I had to give a heads up on what to expect with this place. My first impression was they were difficult to get ahold of to schedule a trail ride. Number on website was a cell number and voice mail was full so unble to leave message. I texted that day with no response. Emailed the next day with very prompt response. However the communication was short with no punctuation and all run on sentences. The focus on the communicate was more about tipping our guide that trying to help us schedule. I didn't think much of that because I was going for the horses not the ability of someone to type in appropriate sentences format. However that really should have heen a warning sign. Once we got there we did not find any signs on where to go so we wondered the stable for 10 minutes before we ran into a guy who said "are you my reservation for 4?". That was our only greeting. The guy in the stable was suprises when the other party of 2 showed up but another lady showed up and knew about them. Great communication by staff. The guy grabbing the horses for everyone said loud enough for all the customers to hear, "I got 4 over her and 2 here and not enough horses so basically I don't know how to make everyone fu**ing happy". They finally figured it out and got enough horses sadled up and we got going. We were lead by a golf cart that either ran out of gas or broke down in the middle of the trail ride. The "trail ride" was really just a figure 8 around the stables and property. What should have been a 60 minute trail ride was 45 minutes but I was ok with that because I was getting bored seeing the same thing over and over. My pre teen girls got placed right behind the 2 guides in the golf cart who taught them a lot of new 4 letter words during the trip. Customer service and a family friendly environment is definitely not at the top of their priority list. All that being said, my 12 year old who was the one who wanted to do this excursion and loves horses had a great time so it was worth it. In hindsight, I would pay more to go someplace else and unfortunately can not recommend. read more

This must, have been one outstanding facility at one time. I personally checked this place out three times. The first time it was an unannounced visit. I walked around for almost an hour and could not find anyone. That would concern me, especially if I boarded my horse there. You could tell the difference between board horses and stable horses. 2ed visit was planned, but no one showed up. There is definitely some type of problems here. The guy seemed more interested in a deposit than anything else!!! My last trip was planned and again no one showed up or could be bothered. This time I really looked around, the hay looked like straw, horses with no water, this place has not been used or kept up in a very long time. Stay away, especially our tourists. read more

I was in contact with the owner over the week with asking her questions and setting up an appointment. When I got there, I went to the stables and I met Amanda and Ryan. 3 Stars for a crazy-fun time which included only a few moments of extreme fear. I got to join a group of friends for some horse riding shenanigans to celebrate a birthday. I didn't organize the outing but I had a really good time and plan on returning. What I loved: - The horses are beautiful and seemed very well cared for and clean. I felt like a cowgirl on Charms- my speckled horse for the day! - The guide was a young guy who had been riding for two years. He was nice and helped one of my friends relax when she was feeling a bit panicked. Great patience and empathy! - The path we took, though occassionally repetitive, was lovely. We passed by stables, small lakes, and narrow paths. This led to a diverse experience. We all agreed that we wanted to return on a semi-regular basis! A few things I might suggest: - We only found out after the ride that they only take cash or check. Luckily someone had a checkbook otherwise we might have been stuck cleaning the stables! It'd be helpful for the owners to let patrons know that they don't take credit cards earlier in the process (and include signage). - We got on the horses and were instructed to pull the reigns right or left to turn and up to stop. That's about where the training ended. A few of my friends had horses that spooked a bit and started trotting and they mentioned that they would have liked more guidance before we started on how to handle those situations (and maybe helmets!). My horse was very calm so I didn't have this problem. - We started out with a guide in front and a golf cart following behind the large group. Eventually the golf cart left and some of the slower folks in the group tended to get far behind. At one point I was in the straggler's group and when we came up to a fork in the path we weren't sure where the rest of our group had gone... We picked the right path and caught up with them not long after but it was still a bit unnerving to be alone on a giant animal and little to no training! read more

POOR COMMUNICATION!! Wife an I wanted to learn how to ride horses,, not just go for a ride! Our first lesson was pretty good. SO i decided to get lessons for my son and daughter in-law. Their first lesson went well. After second lesson, Amanda, owner operator, said we could all do a lesson together, but when we got there she said four was to many train. So we could do a trail ride for free. Now from the beginning it took her over a week to respond to my initial request, and during the weeks we stretched out our training. It was very difficult to get her to return text, even 2-3 weeks for some. She cancelled on us one day, 15 minutes before lesson, via text, but we were just pulling into her driveway. So my son has had a couple cancellations, and once she asked if the could delay an hour, but he could not. So she claims he canceled. The last two weeks I have been trying to to schedule our last lesson, even told her we would be willing to do a solo trail ride. Her text basically said she has been very busy and we already had 5 lessons. So I guess she is not giving us that trail ride for free. I asked her to just pick a time and I would make it work. no reply, and its been over a week. I have even repaired a saddle, and 2 harness for free for her. I thought lessons were good, trail ride was ok, very small property and no access to regular area horse trails. I see the reviews used to be very good, but customer service has declined, cash only, (didn't find out until we showed up). They have good horses, she try's her best at taking care of them. So first off I have never been on a horse. The thought was kind of intimidating to be completely honest. There wasn't really much instructions other then be confident and lead the horse. So I hoped up on put my business face on and off we went. The trainers and care takers were all very knowledgeable and encouraging. We went around the range for a little over an hour. Now I'm no 14 year old girl but I fell in love with riding that afternoon. I felt like I was in my element. A total must do if you have never rode before. So much fun!!. They were over 30 minutes late for our original appointment in October for a riding lesson and trail ride but we didn't get the riding lesson. So they offered another trail ride which was supposed to have happened at 3 on Thursday. At 3:30 we were informed to come back Saturday at 1. Then on Saturday, today they were a no show. Perfect experience for my beginner son and beautiful horses for more than just trail rides. I loved being able to groom the horses and spend more time than just an on and off trail ride. I am definitely going back but I enjoyed it so much I want to spend time advancing my knowledge and skills. I was looking for something fun for my girls (11 & 17) to do this summer which was social distancing friendly. We have never been on a horse and was a little worried that my younger daughter would chicken out. Amanda helped my girls get on their horses and then brought out a third horse for me. We had a Groupon and neither one of us had ridden in a long time. We headed out to Geneva on a Saturday afternoon. MapQuest can take you right there. The stable was nothing special but the horses were beautiful. Very well taken care of. When we got there there were two other couples with Groupon's as well. They chose the horse for you. They help you get on the horse and that's it. Not a lot of riding instructions given. You just hang on and let the horse do it's thing. The guide took off in a golf cart and horses just follow the golf cart around the property. The riding was about 50 minutes. There was not a lot of interaction with the horse besides riding. No running or trotting just walking around the property. Good for beginners or someone that just wants to ride. If you expect anything more, this might not be the place for you. read more

We had a bad experience. We arrived for our scheduled 1PM trail ride purchased thru Groupon. No one was around and another party had been waiting since 10:30AM. We spoke with a woman in the house who seemed to be the owner but she contracted the management to another company. Eventually a ride returned but the leader would not speak to us and shortly afterword got in his car and drove away. The woman told us he went to lunch. We waited until 2:45PM and he had not returned. The 10:30AM group was still waiting! It was a little girls birthday party! We requested and received a refund from Groupon. The Groupon was already marked "redeemed". (Thank you, Groupon!). But although the horses seemed in reasonably good shape, this is a poorly managed operation. Be careful! read more

While I hoped that this would have ended with a mere complaint, and a fix, the person handling customer service felt that it was necessary to refute my review rather than attempt to fix what they had done wrong. I purchased a trail ride for two, and had an additional family of four, who did not have a reservation, join our trip. While the family was kind, this was not part of what I had paid for. Then to make things worse, I rode a horse in which they specially stated "needs a chiropractor but if you ride him long enough he'll walk better", which felt borderline abusive. When I contacted the establishment for a fix, they said that they were trying to appease everyone, and allowed the family of four, without an appointment, to join our ride without our permission. I was extremely disappointed by the poor customer service provided and the little care they give for inexperienced horse riders like me. They gave me a horse called "heaven" that tried to buck me several times and that would not listen to my directions, my horse also had to be in the back of all the other trail riders or else she would have thrown me off (Keep in mind that I had told them several times prior to getting a horse that I was a first-time rider, and they still gave me one of the most uneasy horses in the stable) They also had me and my partner wait 50 minutes past our appointment time. My family was given a Groupon for an hour trail ride for Christmas. We made a reservation for Saturday at 1 pm. When we arrived, there was no one there to greet us. We found the front office and were told by the owner that they were not doing trail rides today. I explained that I made the reservation and was never contacted about a cancellation. I drove over an hour to get there. She just said that the horses were all lame today and to email her to reschedule. No apologies. Very Disappointing. :( I scheduled a 8am horse ride for my 2 children, niece, & myself. After a hour of waiting, finally spoke to someone. Will not mention the worker's name. I felt they were very rude. Especially w/ the other riders there, I felt they did not care & disrespected. I understand life & family can make running a business harder, but at the same time a little consideration would have went a long way.
