    Small fruit salad

Coffee was pretty good and decently priced! The fruit salad wasn't very fresh but the staff was very friendly!

    Cappuccino and croissant

Our hotel was on the same block so we stopped by and very much enjoyed it. We came every morning to start our day. The croissants and cappuccinos were delectable! The staff was also impressive. They were friendly and quick.

    8 euro plate

Stopped here for lunch after a big morning of sightseeing. Lots of food options in the window & a helpful staff member explained it was 6 euro for a small plate or 8 for a large, filled with whatever you'd like from the window. There were arancini, frittata, potatoes, different salads, meatballs, parmigiana, potato & salmon bake, veggies, cheese & tomatoes etc. we got the large plates but most people were happy with the small. Basket of bread was brought to the table. Not the fanciest meal, but it was perfect for this occasion. We enjoyed it all.

Er Caffettiere was the first Cafè/breakfast place we visited during our stay in Rome. Since this was our first time ordering breakfast, we were quite nervous. But the staff was excellent at understanding us and even discounted one of the members in our group. The cappuccino was AMAZING and the croissants were warm and flaky. It looked like a lot of locals visited as well. Very nice welcome into Rome!!!

Delicious morning pastries! I thought Tartine in SF was my favorite pastry spot but that title was easily usurped by this place. Came here at 6am for cappuccinos but the pastries looked too good to pass up. We purchased 3 cappuccinos and 3 pastries for only 7.5 euros. The little crunchy Nutella-filled ones were my favorite (only 1 euro each) but everything was warm, flaky, and delicious. They need to release a cookbook, I would be first in line.

Drinks are cheap (although their well vodka was pretty harsh) and there is free wifi so you can post the day's worth of pictures on your social media outlet of choice! I also got one of the sipping chocolates. Super rich and luxurious. Goes great with harsh vodka!

She ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza (although the meat seemed like ham to me) and it was pretty good. The following day I returned and ordered a white pizza and a prosciutto pizza. The white pizza came out like a giant warm salty cracker with olive oil--I think they forgot the cheese? I was a bit tired, so I might have misread the menu when I selected and asked for white pizza. The prosciutto pizza was incredible. It was crunchy, the sauce was a bit sweet and it hit all the right spots. We paid much less than anticipated and that was an added bonus. We haven't ordered wine here (yet) but they have a decent selection at a decent price range. In addition, the bottles of water are priced better than most places so we stocked up on a water stash. I recommend giving this place a try.

Yeah, I saw the segment about this legendary late-night bakery on Andrew Zimmern's Rome episode…read more And yeah, I was further intrigued by the famous sign with the provocative slang connotation that greets visitors as they carefully head down the somewhat treacherously steep staircase into this unique and somehow exciting basement space. What I wasn't prepared for was the very personal and intimate encounter with the founder/owner/chief cook/probably not bottle-washer who is Antonio Lambiase. We arrived "early" (about 23:00 on a Friday night in July) to find the maestro hard at work crafting his famous pastries for the crowds of nocturnal visitors that were sure to follow. Although he spoke almost no English, we were able to communicate through my very limited Italian and the help of a couple of his immigrant assistants who had also had limited abilities in the two languages. My wife and I found him to be perfectly charming, playful as well as typically Italian. He didn't hesitate to ask me how old I thought he was and to flex his biceps to demonstrate his fitness and machismo. When we showed interest in several of the items already completed he came around from behind his work station with a piping bag full of whipped cream which he proceeded to squirt on the backs of our hands for tasting and made romantic suggestions by drawing hearts with the cream. Needless to say, this was not an experience that we will soon forget. We made a fairly large purchase of an assortment of his sweet concoctions and took them to go to enjoy back at our hotel. I'd like to report that they were as memorable, but actually they were just ok. During our two weeks in Italy we certainly enjoyed much better pastry, but on a late night after reveling with friends I could easily see myself returning to this super cool spot!
