    Fritto misto carne
    Rachel P.

We ate here because it was about 11:15pm and we were really hungry. From the outside, it seemed like it would have been a good place to eat because there were a lot of people seated outside. I didn't want to sit outside because the space was so tight and crammed that I didn't want to feel like I was having a meal with the other guests so we asked to sit inside where it was empty and only 1 couple seated. We ordered the fritto misto carne, cacio e pepe, spaghetti pomodoro, 2 lattes, and a water. The food was decent, but very expensive compared to nicer restaurants we've eaten at so far, which I thought was strange. Once the bill arrived, I was so shocked about the handwritten tip request from our server for an additional 20%, which happened to be more than 20%. I even heard the table next to us complain about their bill also. My husband does not play so he went to the host and complained. There's already a 10% charge added into your total for tax/service so to be charged for an additional +20% was ridiculous. It wasn't even like fine dining in San Francisco. My husband argued the charge and the host said it was for them, which is fine, but in all the restaurants we've eaten at in Rome, we never have a handwritten tip request added to our bill and there were only 2 of us. My husband asked to have the charge adjusted so the host did it for us. I want to be fair with the 2- star rating because we did have good service and the food was decent, but if you can avoid this place, please do. There are many restaurants that are open pretty late and have better food and will not take advantage of their guests specifically tourists.

This place charges a 10% service fee and a 20% tip that has to be paid in cash. Don't get trapped by this place

Worst pasta ever! Pizza is really good, but DO NOT order pasta from here. Plus, they make you pay 10euro mandatory tips.

Even though this café is on a very busy tourist thoroughfare, the food was good and the service was great. Can hardly wait to go back.

I was researching granitas and found that there is something else called a grattachecca. Found an old book that talked about how there used to be grattachecca kiosks all over Rome but as of august 2016 - there are only 3 left!!!!! Grattachecca is when they shave ice off of a huge block and then flavor it with syrup. It's different then a granita (a much more common iced drink) because the ice is much chunkier and you eat it with a spoon until your ice melts. They have at least 30 flavors that go right on top: strawberry, mint, pomegranate, orange, etc. I came here about midnight and just loved the experience. A brightly colored street kiosk with a variety of tasty drinks and cold goodies to enjoy on a hot summer night. So when I asked for a grattachecca - he pulled it out a huge block of ice and placed it on the counter and then used a stainless steel tool to shave ice right off the top and put it into a clear plastic cup. He then added strawberry and mint syrup to it and ....Buon appetito!!! Soooo good!!

We asked what flavors we should get and the guy working there was very friendly and accommodating. He made good suggestions, he asked how we liked it and made adjustments based on that. We ended up with one orange and lemon one with chunks of coconut and a cherry and raspberry one with fresh lemon juice, coconut and high-quality marinated cherries. It reminded me of being at a good cocktail bar. The seating is quite nice, shady, and you can see the Supreme Court across the Tiber, although it's a bit loud due to the road right there.
