I am so deeply disappointed in the service and care of this doctor and his practice. First, they are behind the times. They gave me a ton of paperwork to complete as this was an initial visit for two of my three children. After 20 minutes of completing paperwork upon submitting it to the front staff I asked if I could make a friendly suggestion. I suggested that they put their intake paperwork on a website for new patients to download in order to save time at the actual appointment. Or they could have emailed it to me prior to the visit. During my suggestion the front staff worker began to talk over me stating that, "Yeah, we don't do that. That's why we tell you to come in 30 minutes prior." I said "I know you don't do that. That is why I am making a suggestion. And I find it quite unreasonable that a pediatric practice would expect a kid or multiple kids to stay still for 30 minutes while their caretaker complete paperwork. Fast forward, once I submitted the paperwork I waited for 25 minutes. I was sitting RIGHT in front of the front office staff area. They were too busy training a new employee to say anything to me about the ridiculously long wait. The waiting room wasn't crowded so I didn't understand why I had to wait so long. I very politely went back to the front office staff and inquired about the status of my appointment. She explained that the dentist was in surgery. I'm wondering why she couldn't have apologized for my wait and explained that BEFORE I had to ask. Then finally we are called inside by a different front office staff member who very rudely told my daughter that she couldn't sit where she sat and has to sit over "there." Well if she did her job correctly, and especially since she was the first person to walk in the door she should have immediately told us where to sit. Then she asked me when my son's last dentist visit occurred. I had an attitude and said I answered that question on the paperwork that I spent 20 minutes completing. I'm wondering "Why didn't she review my paperwork prior to us entering the room?" Then she started ordering us around. "You sit there, you lay there..." I said, that's not going to work. Both sons were crying at this point because she was gruff and has absolutely no bedside manner and clearly doesn't know how to work with kids. Then the doctor bursts in and initially tries to be upbeat, but it became clear that he was rushing us and did not understand the dynamic that had previously occurred. I had an attitude with the employee and she had an attitude as well. Then Dr. Ergas actually fixed his mouth to tell me that "Maybe you should have brought another person with you to handle things." My black sons (3 and 1 years old) were crying hysterically and nobody cared. I told him that that was an extremely insensitive comment to make. Then he started yelling at me (yes, he actually raised his voice at me while my 3 year old black son was laying down in front of him) and tried to justify his issue. He explained that he was in surgery... I told him 3 times "I don't have a problem with you, I have a problem with your front staff." He essentially told me that if I have a problem with them I have a problem with him and kicked me out. He stated, "You can go get care somewhere else because we don't need this." I then told my kids that we were leaving because obviously this doctor doesn't like to work with black people. I am so disappointed that I actually had to have my first ever conversation with my black 4 year old daughter about why some people don't like people who look like us. I am going to make it my mission to let everyone I know understand that Dr. Ergas and his practice are completely unprofessional and, in my opinion, have some severe prejudice issues against black people and/or those who appear to be single moms. He needs some diversity/sensitivity training as does his staff ASAP! read more

My daughter lost a filling & it had been irritating her & making her extremely uncomfortable. I called Dr Ergas after hours & he offered to meet us Saturday at 1:00pm. Dr Ergas greeted my child warmly & was able to replace the missing filling soon after examining her. What else impressed me was that when he was done, he painted fluoride over her teeth to protect them from future caries. He advised me not to let her eat or drink for 30 minutes & we were all set to enjoy the rest of the day. Dr Ergas was thorough, kind & actually quite adorable with my child. He is efficient with his time making her experience not only tolerable but, & I cannot believe I'm saying this, fun. When all was done, she got to pick a generous prize from the treasure chest & we were on our way. I will be scheduling my children's next cleanings with Dr Ergas & look forward to having a wonderful relationship with our new dentist. read more

If there is an option for less than one star, I will go for it. Dr. Ergas is the worst doctor we ever met in US. He is very rude and impatient. My son almost got hurt during his first visit. He required parents to firmly hold his arms and legs. My son kept screaming. He used a sharp tool to examine the tooth, while my son was moving his tongue in his mouth. It was so dangerous. We will never ever go back again. NOT recommend to any parents. NOT even try once. read more

I have been bringing my two sons to this practice for the better part of 18 years. It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this review. I have read other reviews for this practice and have always disagreed with what I read as my children have never had a bad experience. However, at the last two visits for my youngest son, the hygienist was absolutely rude and abusive. This is a practice where your children go in without parents and this hygienist has been there since I started bringing my oldest there many years ago. She physically hurt him while using unnecessary force to conduct a simple cleaning and xrays. As it was hurting and he started to cry, she told him to stop crying, said it didn't hurt, and asked what is he crying for. Not the bedside manner you would expect of someone working with children. My son was still crying when he came back out, and as he is not one to over-react, it takes quite a bit to make him cry, I discussed what had happened with him prior to leaving the parking lot. I felt it was worthy of me going back in and discussing it with the hygienist. All she had to say was that sometimes kids perceive pressure as pain and that "oh no, no, no," she did nothing that could have hurt him. He is terrified that he will have to go back and see her again. Needless to say, I will never bring him back there and subject him to this abuse. PLEASE READ IF YOUR CHILD HAS SPECIAL NEEDS!!!! My daughter is 6 and has Autism. We were first seen by our regular dentist. They referred her to a pediatric dentist. I called the office of Dr. Ergas and explained my daughter's fear of dentists and being touched due to sensory and Autism. They assured me that they worked with special needs children all of the time. We went to Dr. Ergas and I was in complete shock. They brought us into the room and wouldn't let me explain anything about my daughter or her needs. After a few minutes Dr. Ergas came in and told my daughter to open her mouth; he looked in and said you have two bad teeth, turned to me and said she needs X-rays. My daughter started to panic and clung to my leg. Dr. Ergas said if she won't get an x-ray we can't help her. I said it's ok she's just a little nervous but we can do it and I'll help her through. He rudely says Mom, No! You're being negative. Nervous is a negative word. I had to stand with my daughter to get the X-rays and we went back to the room. Ten minutes later the dental assistant comes back in and says hey we need this room please go sit in the waiting room until we want to discuss the X-rays. We go into the waiting room. Five minutes later they call us back, but not to a room. The dental assistant discusses at the desk in the back that my daughter needed a cavity filled and a crown out loud in front of everyone. I said ok, but I think we need to discuss sedation. She said you know what we will give her some laughing gas and start working on her and see how it goes. She said obviously she is scared without you so we will allow you in the room, but you have to promise you will keep your mouth SHUT. I said first of all I will always be in the room with my child so that's a given. Secondly, I am her mother. If I see something happening with my child that I don't agree with I will say something. I started asking questions about why she needs a crown? Was this like a root canal? Can we have white fillings and white crown? The dental assistant says hey, we will do the quickest things and she will get silver. I said she has Autism and silver really upsets her. She said that's too bad it's faster and your insurance won't cover it. She said and your insurance won't cover general anesthesia or sedation other than laughing gas over the age of 5. She kept throwing her hands in the air when I would try and ask questions. I really could not believe that not only was she treating us like this but that Dr. Ergas did not have the decency to even once come speak to me about what my daughter needed. I made the appointment to come back for the work and the dental assistant asked if I could even afford the copay if she got white fillings. Just appalling treatment. I came home and called my cousin who is a dentist in PA. I explained everything and she told me they misinformed me on many of the treatments. She encouraged me to call my dental insurance. Dental insurance told me that the office of Dr. Ergas was completely incorrect and in fact they cover sedation up to any age but NOT the nitrous oxide. I spoke to the developmental pediatrician's office and was given the name of someone In Kennebunk who truly works with children with special needs. We went and it was like night and day. My daughter was treated with care and kindness. The dentist made sure I was informed of all of the information by him! I'm so glad I trusted my gut and cancelled the appointment with Dr. Ergas to do the work. So sad the way he treated us. read more
