During multiple visits, checkouts, and appointment scheduling conversations, the outstanding balance was never mentioned. Over a year later, I was finally notified of the issue. By that time, United Concordia was unable to reissue payment because the claim was too old and a new contract period had begun. As a result, I was left responsible for the balance. What is most frustrating is that other visits during the same timeframe were processed and paid without issue. Had the office's billing department identified and communicated the problem in a timely manner, this situation likely could have been resolved directly with the insurance company. I understand that billing issues can happen, but timely communication and proper account management are essential. Both my upper and lower jaw had to be brought forward a full centimeter so I could properly breath. I was referred to Dr. Lauren Busch to handle my care with braces before, during, and after my surgery. She was phenomenal as well as her staff! This is a highly invasive surgery that causes the orthodontist to have to position my teeth before the surgery and then after the surgery she had to help my teeth realign as well as my jaw. She is highly skilled and very professional. The dentist who found the problem and referred me to her stated that if he had to have the surgery, Dr. Lauren is who he would want to do his orthodontic care.
