We had a premium site. Others were gravel but level.

Don't let the reviews sway you. This is a beautiful place. The place lives up to the KOA standard. Loads of things for the kids to do. The sites are well appointed and spacious. We did not really interact much with the owners but what little we did was cordial. I understand the quiet time rules. They arevteasonable. The kids here had a blast running and riding bikes everywhere. But the kids stayed on the paths. No onevwas accosted or yelled at. The only fly in the ointment were the office hours and the cost of firewood. The office hours are limited to a few hours in the morning and a few in the afternoon. That means that you are likely to check in using an envelope. Unlike most KOAs you are not escorted to your site. There us a real issue in the Northeast with the destructive luna moth. As a result firewood from out of state is illegal. Forcing the client to pay 8.50 for a very small bundle compared to a large bag for 10.00 just outside the campground is a bit much. These "flies" are not enough to stop us from coming back.

Peaceful, clean family-friendly and dog-friendly campground; owners hard-working and friendly. We had a gem of a campsite with table, chairs grill, fire pit and privacy. When we arrived, the owner explained about not transporting firewood., and buying it from this place. All campers most likely know this already. Understandable, since live trees are a valuable asset to the campground and surrounding area. Disease and bugs that kill trees are a problem to be avoided. Store is well stocked, adequate laundry facilities. Nice amenities for families. We are birders, so found this campground convenient to Presque Isle SP and Erie NWR. Also saw birds and bunnies around the campground, fish and a snapping turtle in beautiful pond. We stayed 5 nights, got to chat with the owners numerous times, no complaints. Rules are reasonable and necessary to keep the place enjoyable. We were refunded money before our stay for an extra person we thought might be coming, but didn't. We saw parents and children enjoying themselves fishing and riding rented pedal cars. The only person I saw getting " yelled at" by owner was a lady who took her dog into the restroom. ( the one that had the dog park beside it) So I personally can't agree with the one-star reviews. Read them for entertainment, if you have time to waste. . Met a couple who come every year, and we would be happy to return also. This is our first time in this part of PA. Staying at this KOA was a great part of our trip,

Booked 1 week out and didn't read reviews prior so we were terrified because if we cancelled we were going to be out all our $$. This KOA is nice, Sue checked us in and the process was quick and easy. The amenities are fantastic for families. A game room, huge checkerboard, a pool, playground, movies at the pavilion (kid's choice), a fishing pond, small laundry mat, bike rentals, fire pit with no cleanup, etc. The owner cam by while we were unpacking to get us started with a few bundles of wood which was super convenient. Honestly every review I read was complaining about quite hours. Notice how no one complained about being told to be quiet in the morning......if this is a campground you want to stay up all hours of the night at then you should choose to stay somewhere else. It's a 11pm curfew which in my opinion is super reasonable. My working family is used to getting up at 430-5am for work, so there aren't many nights we're up past 930-1000. I appreciate no noise after 11 potentially keeping me up as I'd rather enjoy the early morning. I was able to meet both husband and wife who run this KOA and they seemed like very nice people trying to run a family oriented campground. My family would definitely not have any problems staying here again in the future. Only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because I'm not a fan of the wood that you have to use. It doesn't seem to burn well and puts off too much smoke.

Our stay at this KOA was AWESOME!! Our site was great and the park was very nice The owners were very nice people and helped out to make our stay fun. We will be back for sure!!

It was relatively clean. Some hair and dust in the corners and some hair in the shower, but it wasn't bad. The bedding and towels were clean. Overall, we were very happy with the cabin and would definitely stay in the same cabin. We arrived one day after a really bad storm went through. The water and electric wasn't working in part of the campground, so we weren't able to use the pool which was a bummer. We weren't able told that the levels had to be checked after the loss of power and water, but when we left Thursday, it still was not open. Not their fault, but it was a bummer. We were hoping it would be checked quicker so we could at least try it out. There is a pond for fishing and we saw a lot of people catching. There also was a pond for swimming. The playground was nice and I appreciate that they put down rocks instead of mulch. For the littles, the rocks are just as much fun as the playground itself. We spent a ton of time at the playground. The air filled bouncing pad was nice also. At least once per day it deflated, but once notified they would send someone to reset it. My kiddo spent all his time there or at the playground. The gaga pit and the little dirt bike track have not been kept up with. We only saw kids once at the bike track. This is why I took away 2 stars. This was our first time at this campground and will be the last. There is so much potential but it seemed like nothing was really taken care of. There also was garbage all over that wasn't picked up the whole time we were there. On our second day, I was bored watching my kiddo jump so I went around that area and picked it all up myself. I understand it's hard to keep staff these days, but the garbages were getting changed every couple days so that person who drove/walked by the garbage on the ground could have easily done what I did. There were many things that just weren't fixed. There are only so many hours in a day and people can only do so much, but there were so many little things that could be done to make the campground cleaner and more inviting. Clean the bathrooms, clean the property, mow.. it all seemed so run down. There was nothing going on at the clubhouse and when asked about kids activities, we were told there weren't any. We have been to many "family" campgrounds and they usually always have activities. Even some state parks do. Again, probably a staffing issue, but we were disappointed. I may have missed it, but I don't think there was any food or even ice cream available which was a bummer. On our last evening, it was raining and my kiddo wanted s'mores. We were going to attempt to make a fire anyways, but our fire pit filled with water. There was no drainage. He then requested ice cream. It was our last night, so we walked up to the store to get him an ice cream from the freezer. They closed at 5. We had to drive 15 minutes for ice cream. I'd think the store would be open at least into the early evening in the summer time. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience and the cabin was nice. We enjoyed our time, but we won't be back.

Our spot was completely grass; we drove our truck onto it and had a HUGE space to set up camp. Our spot had an overgrown field about a hundred feet back, and a nice tree for shade. Other tent spots backed up to the woods, across the mowed field from us. The bathrooms here were very simple and clean. There was always toilet paper and soap, so it's being maintained. The showers are also nice but simple; to turn on you set a timer between 1-5. The water temperature is automatic but very comfortable. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate our 1am arrival; she called to check our status, left a map with a highlighted route and notes on how to get to our site, and even put an orange traffic cone next to the picnic table so we could see it in the dark! We are avid campers and adventurers, so this additional touch really made West Haven stand out. It was 10 minutes to get to town, and 20 to the tip of Presque Isle. There's a pool AND small fishing pond, paved roads throughout the campground and most sites are grassy, not gravel.
