Helaine Fendelman is personable and is able to find the information needed for appraisal of art…read moreworks and furniture that are part of an estate. She is, however, computer illiterate and is not able to deliver appraisal documents that meet a client's specifications, no matter how many times these are explained orally or in writing. This client had repeated and increasingly annoying interactions with her and never received the documentation that was needed. She didn't seem to understand the difference between a word-processed file and a pdf (or between a pdf saved from a text file, which would be searchable, and one scanned from a print out). I had to explain to her how to cut and paste a thumbnail photo into a document (she was ultimately not able to comprehend this) and also how to share a Dropbox folder ("right click..." etc.). She charges a high hourly fee and still bills for the time she spent digressing about the piano she once inherited. I would try to find a different appraiser if I ever have to do something like this again.
