We had…read morea two-night event hosted at Foursquare in NYC that entailed group presentations and a panel of judges. The venue's limited tech capabilities (could only provide 2 mics) along with a less than helpful POC were stress points, but our technician David was a life saver. He came prepared with every type of wiring/equipment just in case to make the tech components work seamlessly. The Foursquare tech person was adamant that their mics couldn't be integrated into the AV equipment that Michael Andrews had brought, but he was quickly proven wrong. David handled what could have been a contentious moment with poise and grace. Furthermore, David went above and beyond by accommodating whatever preferences we desired and checked in to make sure he came early for the second night's event. Will on the service side is also wonderful to work with! He was able to accommodate a change in timeline the night before and was responsive to both texts/phone calls. I intend to hire Michael Andrews for future events!

Matt & Ian together saved my skin!!!…read more When I found out that the venue's monitor I was counting on had been broken a few weeks back, I was desperate!!! I called MA and heard Matt's reassuring & honest voice for the first time. That was Monday. Our event was on Friday. I was flying into NYC on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Matt came to the venue for a walk-through and assessed our needs without overselling, which I appreciated. On Friday, Matt showed up early in the morning - even though he didn't have to - to introduce Ian, the tech wiz who does grand scale projects. We were on a tight budget, so we only asked Ian to stay for the first day of our 3-day seminar (how stingy we were :O). However, it became obvious that we needed Ian back! Boy, were we glad we had him the whole time! He went far beyond his call of duty and worked collaboratively with our videographer to meet our spontaneous requests as well. I shudder to think what would have happened had we not found those guys ...! Plus Matt threw in so many freebies (or so it felt like) and did not nickel & dime us. This is a guy who gets a big picture that great customer service will win someone for the long-term every time! So refreshing. We will return to NYC for our events and I know whom I will call for AV!

DJ Anthony gave us exactly the type of music we were looking for, hip-hop, latin and pop. Harold was seriously the best MC. He may seem reserved but once he's on the dance floor, he knows how to bring the good times to the crowd! Zap, the photographer took loads of meaningful and memorable pictures and the entire folder was placed in our Dropbox, including the photobooth shots within hours of our event. As a someone of Caribbean descent, it was a unique and heartwarming time. He does a great job of combining children's entertainment with elements of the Caribbean culture including music and tidbits about the islands. Firstly, he arrived on time and set up his equipment with ease. He began his service with balloon shapes which were so cute! He had an array of colors and even had heart shaped balloons. Soon after, he did some face painting. Some of it was reminiscent with the party theme which was Lilo & Stitch. Now for the big fun, he went into a magical performance filled with laughs and amazement. He kept everyone laughing as well as engaged, and the children were eager to participate. In addition, he included prompts for us to say happy birthday and take pics of the birthday girl as she assisted with his tricks. Adults also got a chance to get into the fun. Above all, he was kind and respectful. Although I did not pay for the service, my goddaughter's mom expressed that he provided a good price and value. Overall a great job! I would book his services for myself and I highly recommend to others. It's a "Yah Mon" for Island Magic!
