I have no complaints about this place! I got a manicure and gel done and Vince did a wonderful job! The Environment The environment was serene and it was very clean. It did not have a chemical smell. Plenty of stations and would be great for a large group of girls! The Staff Vince was hilarious and made great conversation. When I chose a color and he started to put the color on my nails I decided I didn't like it on and he told me that he would remove the nails he had already painted and would start over with a new color of my choice. He was very gentle and did not rush the job. The Manicure The manicure was so relaxing and after 5 days the gel still remains perfect looking (will update the post later). Writing this review as my nails dry because I couldn't wait to rave about my new favorite nail spot! I usually frequent another giant nail salon in Hyde Park right around the corner and while I have never had a bad experience , this place blew me away. Great prices and even better quality. It is honestly the first time I've gotten a mani/pedi without having to wince in pain when a nail gets cut too short or the tech is moving too fast and cuts me. The salon is modest in size but the chairs are brand new, everything is clean and there's a really cool giant aquarium in the front. I arrived right when it opened and it was almost full of customers when I left! Even though it was busy my tech took his time and made sure my nails looked great. I got a shellac mani+pedi and on top of paying full price they charged me $12 to remove the nail polish on my toes that they originally put there!!!! $87 for this service (by far the most I ever paid) plus a $20 tip. $107 to a place looking to nickel and dime customers. I've been to this place three times now and it was great every time. I get shellac pedicures that last about a month a time. The nail technicians I've had do a great job and really take their time. For them to remove the shellac, do the pedicure, and reapply shellac, I paid $64 (not including tip) which I don't think is that bad since it lasts a month and I enjoy it. My pedicure last time lasted about an hour, maybe a little longer. I've never had to wait for a technician, they seat me as soon as I walk in. read more

This place is ridiculous. Every time I go in its a different price for the same thing. I just took 3 girls in for a pre-vacation polish change on fingers and toes and they charged me $110. Just regular nail polish. Further - I don't think they use quality products. I only get 7-10 days from a shellac manicure. Anywhere else I get a solid 3 weeks minimum. We will never go back. Save your money and go to a more ethical salon!!!! read more

I was looking for a place to get a quick manicure on a Thursday evening and decided on Ambiance in hyde park but missed the turn into the parking lot and ended up at this place on Edwards road. It was a typical nail shop, nothing super fancy. With no appointment they were able to get started on me as soon as I walked in and for a shellac polish change i was in there for about 20 minutes. Super quick and nice result so far. $22 was a fair price for this service and I will probably be back. They also have tons of colors to choose from which made it a little overwwhelming but overall it was a good experience. read more

Just had the worst manicure of my life from Brian. I asked for almond shaped nails and to keep about half the length I had. Ended up with unevenly filed, square nails cut down to my finger pads and the polish is clumpy. It also took soooo long I just wanted to leave halfway through. I left more stressed out than I arrived. Never going back. read more

I have been going here several years. Heidi is the best anywhere I have found around for SNS. Her mother Navo does my shellac pedicures. They are thorough and both last an extended time frame. I make an appointment for them specifically. However, Vince is amazing, and Trane (spelling). They have all been there a long time. Perfect and clean place. I refuse to go to Ambiance again. I had gone to Escape to get gel nails before and loved them, however, I went in to get SNS and a week later two of my nails are extremely chipped. The powder is thick and my nails look almost bubbly. I didn't think the thickness would be that big of a deal if my nails lasted, but they only lasted a week!!!! read more

I made an appointment earlier in the day for 5:15 PM with a young lady at the front. at 5:25 after I'd already been there on time I got up and asked if I could start soaking off my gel polish since I haven't been seen. the owner, whatever his name is was in that room doing someone's nails he turned around and literally yelled at me "no one should do your nails because you didn't have an appointment!" The young woman stood up and said she does have an appointment, And he said no well you shouldn't have given her an appointment I said excuse me I need your boss' information. He yelled "I am the boss I am the owner!" and he said "nobody do her nails!" So I said f you and turned around to leave because he was acting so crazy that it seem like the next thing he was going to do was stand up and present me with a gun or something like that so I chose to leave. I cursed at him one more time and said I hope the rest of y'all see what he just said to me after I only asked a question about being able to soak my nails off after waiting for 10 minutes since my appointment. this was unbelievable and unacceptable. Honestly I wasn't expecting much given the reviews on here, but I felt compelled to write a review because I was blown away. The staff was extremely friendly and Matt took great care on my pedicure and listened to what I wanted and was very gentle on my ticklish feet. I loved the atmosphere and loved the fact that they let us have a group of six sit together. I have been coming here for a couple of years but the quality has declined significantly since they first opened and I will not return after this most recent experience. I went for a pedicure and some of my nails were cut far too short. Overall my experience was not enjoyable and then when I paid in cash no change was brought to me (15 dollars on a 35 dollar service is not a normal type anywhere). Would not recommend. read more

I came to Escape nails for the first time and asked for SNS with tips. The service took over an hour and a half due to the nails "not drying correctly." The nails were supposed to be a little on the longer side and almond shaped- due to all the filing, dipping, refiling, and redipping (because the nails weren't even and not drying correctly), I ended up with short, round nails. During my service another woman came in, who had been in earlier, to complain that her SNS nails felt rough. The nail tech (who was kind and obviously having a hard day) attempted to fix both this other woman's nails and mine at the same time, which added even more time to my service. At the end I was charged $70! I feel completely robbed. All would have been forgivable if not for the astronomical price for nails I basically didn't want. Will not be returning and will advise others not to come here. read more

I love this nail salon. They are consistently professional, clean, and provide great results. The staff is very friendly and will remember you by name after a few visits. Besides having my nails polished, I also like to go to a nail salon to relax and unwind. Escape has comfortable pedicure chairs, the most up-to-date magazines, and usually HGTV on. This is reviewing their waxing service. I have been going to Escape for years for their nail services without any serious issues. But this waxing experience felt so cheap and unhygienic -- and they charge the same as Mitchell's legit spa across the street! What made this experience so unpleasant I was compelled to write a review: - The room is barely big enough to fit the bed and wax station. Nowhere to hang purse or clothes. - size of room/bed against the wall made moving my legs very difficult and my knee was banging against the wall. She couldn't stretch my knee enough wide so the angle was bad and caused some painful wax pulls. - I left doused in not one, not two, but three servings of baby powder and still have wax spots all over my thighs. All over my clothes now too. - while the "bed" had white towels on part of it, she rolled out that butcher paper only a foot wide so my butt and part of my leg fit on it. Why she didn't cover the whole space is beyond me. - she reused the same dipping stick in the wax every time (I've seen that before at cheap nail places -- but not if you're charging the same as a spa!) - this bothered me the most: she reused the small paper sheets 3 times on me, each time she reapplied wax - and it obviously needed to be thrown out. When I pointed this out, she laid it face up on my thigh and let it sit there while she reapplied the wax (uh, ew). And instead of throwing any of them away in the trash, she just put them on the tiny butcher paper space gap between my thighs. There was a pile there when I sat up, careful not to touch them. Ewwww all around. I'm really disappointed in the quality of this service and will not be going to them again! read more

I usually don't write reviews but i felt like it was absolutely necessary for me to, this time. I went to get my nail repaired because it literally broke off the day after i got it done. The lady who originally did my nails was very nice and sweet. But i believe this time the manager was the one who was fixing my nails. He was moving very quickly and just all over the place, very unprofessional! He asked what happened to my nails and i told him i went to hold a door for someone and just so happened to look at my nails and one was broken. He told me that I would've had to have gotten into a fight for my nail to break off. He basically said i was lying about how my nail broke and to "not give him that as an excuse". Besides from him being rude, the nail that he fixed was terribly bigger than all my other nails. At this point, i didn't want to say anything else because he was just so mean. So now I'm walking around with 4 short nails and 1 super long nail. Thanks to Escape Nails! I will not be returning back and advise others to stay away. If you are a college student and your on a budget and you want to get your nails done by someone is respectful, i highly recommend @qnailedit on Instagram, she is located in the Armstrong student center. read more

I usually frequent a nail salon closer to my apartment, but due to a recommendation from a customer, I decided to get my nails done at Escape. Atmosphere was great, everything was clean. Sat down and explained I wanted my long coffin nails off and just a fresh set of short square acrylics in their place. Everything seemed fine until the nail tech used a plastic nail extension to PEEL THE ACRYLIC FROM MY NAIL BED. Ouch. I pulled away and told her that hurt, her reasoning for trying to pry off my nail was because the liquid (that they are supposed to use) hurts people's skin. I will not go back and will steer people away who ask me about nail care. It's a shame but obviously they don't know what they are doing. read more
