First time experience trying an escape room. It's harder than you think. Take a large group with you to explore the whole room(s). It takes a clear mind to process all the clues in order to open all the locks and get out within the one hour time frame. The attendants were very personable but professional. They gave us clues each ten minutes if we were on the wrong path. Wonderful experience for those looking to sharpen their observation and mental processing. I adored this escape room so much. It is well organized, the puzzles were challenging but always in a fun rewarding way, not the tedious way. Our game master, Brooke was a delight and so helpful. Her instructions were clear cut and simple. And she gave us great clues without giving anything away. The room we picked was called Haunted and it certainly lived up to its name! Lots of ghostly activity going on in this room. It was well-designed and will certainly give you the thrills you're hoping for and family friendly enough for our twelve year old who was apprehensive at first. He had a blast! Of course with that being said, use your discretion since all children are different. I won't go into what the puzzles are because that would take away from the magic of the experience. I will just say that if you love solving puzzles, you will love these. We were a group of six people with different thinking styles. I think any more than that might've felt crowded. Overall, the experience was amazing. I am a big fan of escape rooms and have done many of them from different states. And this was definitely one of the better ones!!! Who knew that there would be an escape room in little old Pensacola, FL? I'm from San Francisco where I believe escape rooms first started popping up in the USA, so I have done about 5 rooms now--I was pleasantly surprised/happy to know that one has sprung up in P-cola. Talk about an easy money-maker by the way. Since I've done a few rooms, I can say that some were well-organized and more fun than others, depending on the company that did it. Escape on Palafox was very well-organized and clean. Our host was very nice/professional. I did the Secret Agent room since it was the only one available at the time I signed up (APR2016). As of this time, they said that 40% of people have escape (~120 groups so far). It was an awesome setup and was great fun with my party of 8. I liked their system of giving you clues and the actions you have to do were creative. Again, I've done more than a few rooms and every single one has been different. I would do Escape on Palafox again in a heartbeat! Don't hesitate to sign up especially if you've never done something like this--you don't have to prepare at all and everyone brings something different to the detective skills table. It's great team-building and just something fun to do. Tip: I recommend one person booking the entire room ($25 x 8 = ~$200) then just having your friends pay you back. But even if you have a smaller group it can be fun with strangers. read more

This was only my second experience with an escape room and everything from start to finish was wonderful! My husband and I were one of three couples doing this room and our group also included a small family. The museum room was large and complex enough to pose a challenge but also included a wide and cleverly designed series of challenges that allowed every member of group - regardless of age - to contribute and engage with the puzzles. The theming on these rooms elevated what was a low bar expectation. Whenever I visit a new city we always check out the escape room scene. We have pretty high expectations of rooms as the escape room scene has evolved from the simple 4 wall locks and codes into a multimedia extravaganza of games that make you forget the outside world for an hour. There are a few execution issues that I think just might be a staffing issue that might affect some less experienced escapees. Their theming was on point, it was the first "horror" room that I actually got a fright in. So props to that. The room, and probably venue itself fit nicely between first gen heavy lock rooms and technology filled puzzles. If they started replacing locks with more themed puzzles they would definitely be in my top 5. read more

My friends and I did the "It's All Wired" room. We have done many escape rooms in the past, and even previously had a very good experience at Escape on Palafox, but we were incredibly let down this time. The room itself was decently clever, but there were numerous electrical issues which prevented the room from being beaten, even when typing in the correct answers. The lady had to pause the timer, come in, and check on things. For the final puzzle we had to lean on wires a certain direction to get the connections to register as being correct and even then it reset a few times and started over, which took precious time off the clock. We should have beaten it with ~10 minutes left, but due to malfunctions barely beat it with under a minute left. The worst part is that the employee didn't even apologize for it. The challenge of escape rooms is figuring out the puzzles. Not troubleshooting your electrical issues in the process. Fix your room or at least offer to compensate the consumer in some way if it doesn't work as intended. With the amount of money they're pulling in this should definitely never happen. read more

Experience was super fun, and host was very helpful when we got stuck. Some of the clues didn't make sense but looking back on it, easy to see that if you didn't overthink it, it made sense.
