We did Kidnapping 2 at Breakout Games in Orange Beach--completely in the dark. Like, can't-see-anything dark. It took us forever just to unlock a dim light. By that point we were already bumping into walls and rethinking our life choices. We are NOT escape room experts and this one totally wrecked us but it was still a blast. The clues were hard but clever, and our game master, Moth, was amazing. Super chill and didn't make us feel dumb (even though we were). We didn't escape, but we didn't cry either. We did 2 rooms last week. Escaped both in time & had a lot of fun! The room decor is great. Runaway Train was fun-but not as many puzzles can be worked on simultaneously-so I would recommend a smaller group (we had 7 & there weren't enough puzzles to keep everyone busy the whole time). So much fun! We had a group of 5 people with two of us in our 30's and three in their 60's. Not everyone had done an escape room before, so we weren't sure which room to try. When I called to make a reservation, the staff member I spoke with was super helpful and made sure we got an appropriate room after discussing the ages and skill levels of the members of our group. We did the Island escape, and it was a blast. There were a ton of puzzles and codes and locks to open. I was worried it might be too easy since it was recommended for beginners, but it definitely was not that easy. We didn't quite escape, but we were close. The game master was excellent, we didn't really ask for hints because he could sense when we needed them and gave us redirection when we were focusing on the wrong thing or clues when we were stuck. The weather was bad during our stay in Gulf Shores so we came here TWICE, we loved it so much!

Recently opened escape room in the area. Glad that this attraction is becoming so popular, I love doing these. Well this one was great and the customer service is excellent. I purchased the Groupon and planned to do a room at 7:10 but due lack of appropriate timing and daycare scheduling we had to reschedule for a different time. The lady - Jasmine was extremely helpful and easily switched us to a different time, no hassle. The place is located in the Wharf ofln the upper lecel. Small but nic,e and clean. Do arrive a little bit early if you haven't done the waiver and to receive room instructions. We ended up doing the "Hostage" room. The clues were pretty cool and required some thinking but nothing crazy or too focused on being a math or science genius or anything like that. There was a timer in the room. The person watching us could hear and see everything and would clue us when we asked for help. Suggestions for this place - a better communication system - we could hear the other ppl playing there games, so I wished they had walkie talkies so that we couldn't definitely get immediate feedback, we had to ask for clues several times before being answered. I know at one escape room- the tv monitor that showed the countdown also worked as a computer screen and we could see the written clue as well as hear them say it. Also ranking the rooms for easiest to hardest, however she did say thr success rate was about 30% per room. We did escape with about 3 mins left. I really like the way the clues were given, it was really cooll. They have 2 other rooms and I would like to try those out. read more

My visitors had their Ziplining excursion cancelled due to high winds. We called Breakout at the Wharf and they had an opening. There were 7 of us and we had a ball escaping first from blindfolds and handcuffs then from the room. We were kidnapped! This game was pretty cool, nice concept. Difficult. We did not escape however we had fun. The only drawback was that there was only one room that you were in the entire time versus other escape games have multiple rooms per game, also the room next to us was loud and you can hear everything which takes away from feeling immersed in your experience and is very distracting. read more

We made a reservation online on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, but was not sure that the reservation went through. On Wednesday, we went to the Breakout location to confirm the reservation for Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. Our reservation was confirmed and we were told to arrive 15 minutes early the next day. We arrived at the location and were told we didn't have reservations and was told to pick another room and time slot. We explained that we had reservations for the kidnapping and that was the room we wanted. We got so sorry that room is not available. Pick something else, we are booked. My family had a wonderful time here a few weeks ago. AFTER some issues were cleared up. I initially talked with Eli who was (supposedly) the Assistant Manager. He made reservations for me and my family to have a game all to ourselves (supposedly) and repeatedly assured me that no one else was booked in and we would definitely be able to play just as a family. Well, we arrived 15 minutes early just to make sure the papers were all filled out and not be late.(This is what is actually recommended because if you are late by even 5 mins you completely throw off the ENTIRE day of games we were told)So we go in and check in at the front desk only to be told that we would be waiting a few more minutes for the other players to arrive. Excuse me? I was told we had the room to ourselves as this was our family night together and wanted it to just be us. Coty was AMAZING and explained that the only way we could have the entire room was to book the full game and each spot in it. Which was fine with us if we had only known earlier and not been lied to. Coty went above and beyond to make us happy. He worked with me until we had a mutually agreeable solution. We ended up having a GREAT night thanks to his help and understanding. But seriously, what kind of Assistant Manager doesn't even know the in's and outs of booking games? How about learning your job Eli? I can't be the only customer that doesn't appreciate ignorance in management. read more
