But from the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel so comfortable and welcome that those nerves disappeared immediately. Our guide, Peter, was absolutely amazing. He was extremely thorough with safety instructions and made sure everyone felt safe and confident throughout the trip, while still keeping everything fun and exciting. He had such a great way with people and really helped make the experience memorable. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even the owner took the time to be kind and personable, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell they genuinely care about giving people a great experience. This trip made me want to come back before it was even over, and I'll definitely be returning this summer to hopefully try one of the more challenging rafting trips. At first she couldn't exactly remember what that meal was, the waitress was short and dismissive. The waitress was dropping off the water and the guest remembered more of the components. The waitress completely disregarded her as she was explaining to her and just walked away. At that point, when she came back to take our order, I let her know that we weren't done asking a question when she walked away and ignored us. At that point, she told us that she didn't have to deal with us and we could leave.

I'm not really sure how I feel about the place. The animals I could see appeared to be healthy, with fairly large enclosures and fabulous views...although it's doubtful that latter matters to them. ;) I just wonder the nature of the farm...I'm allllll for any efforts towards animal conservation, but I haven't been able to determine if there's any of that here or if it's just someone's personal zoo. This one's a big ???? for me.

For a small town, this park has everything! Shaded areas with several tables for picnics and BBQs;…read moretwo baseball fields; a horseshoe pit; a public pool open in the summer months; walking paths and trails; and most important, clean bathrooms! Along the side of the park is a babbling creek with a wooden bridge that crosses over so you can walk along the natural area. If you prefer a paved path, there is a loop that takes you around the park. The day I was there, a family was enjoying a birthday party in the shade, having lots of fun. Not only does this park provide recreational space for the locals, there is an area is dedicated to overnight RV parking for $25. As you enter the park on the one way driveway that encircles the space, the managers office is the first trailer to the right. I'm giving it five stars because for a small town of less than 640, these are great amenities. So if you visit, out your expectations in check, keep it relative.

Be sure to leave the cart on the cart path near the tee boxes or else some regular there will tell you can't drive on a par 3. I guess the regulars own that course. I was surprised on a 90 degree day there was not cart drink gal on the course. Such a nice place and you would think they could afford a golf cart drink gal on the course.

The staff that run the pro shop are extremely welcoming, kind and friendly. My overall experience at this golf course was wonderful. Drive over from Portland was beautiful as the Gorge is always beautiful but the scenery on this course is so incredible . If you are not having your best game the scenery make up for it. Already planning to make my next tee time!!!!

Third, wear solid walking or running shoes. Hiking boots are good, too. The footing is always even and smooth, but it's mostly great. Thanks to the creative folks who thought of this as a hike for the public--it's fun, safe (assuming you make good choices) and another reason to visit Hood River. There were cupcakes to celebrate, birthday hats, Herman pictures to color, and a raffle. We enjoyed the coffee shop/gift store and picked up a new fridge magnet and some peanut butter fudge. Enjoyed viewing the rainbow trout and sturgeon ponds. The grounds are gorgeous and teeming with wildlife and gorgeous flowers. We would definitely go back!
