We LOVED this. We played shanghaied which has a 25% pass rate. We were running late because a game had ended and made us stuck in traffic but the guy waited for us (10:40 pm start time, we were 10 mins late). We finished before midnight, but asked a bunch of questions about the room and the guy had stayed 10 mins past midnight. Anyways highly recommended! read more

This was my second time doing an escape room, I did the Budapest one, one of the harder ones they say. We got through it in around 40mins. So I am glad there was a small challenge but not so hard that it would take longer then a hour. I loved having a screen that told us hints also. I want to come back with my little cousins next time as I feel these may be easier and kids will enjoy. This is my third escape room experience and my favorite so far! The highlights are: it wasn't as hard as some of the others and there is a bar! Some of the others I've visited felt impossible for me. After one experience when we didn't escape and we learned some of the clues, there was NO WAY we were solving it! That was a defeating realization. But Escapology was difficult but do-able! We actually escaped at Escapology! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the game was a lot of fun! The escape room is a small space, so not overly accommodating for people using wheelchairs and I would suggest wearing comfortable clothes. I found myself sitting on the ground working on a lock for several minutes. The restaurant/establishment space was really cool with steampunk-type decor and big for groups to gather before or after their escape experience. The biggest attraction was the bar. I know you probably shouldn't have cocktails before solving a mystery, but it makes it more fun. (Or, you can wait until after your great escape!) And, they are cool themed cocktails! The food was great! My favorites included the fried ravioli and delicious chicken wings. The chicken was nicely fried and the sauce was awesome - it was a sweet, sour, and spicy - really great! I'm excited to visit with my fiance. He'd get a kick out of this for sure! read more

A group of us headed to Escapology for two reasons! 1. To try to beat the Budapest Express Room! 2. To celebrate my friends 30th birthday :) With a restaurant located inside (Solutions Lounge), we decided to enjoy some appitizers and drinks before walking into our escape game. As we all endulged in good food and fresh brews, we felt ready to tackle our game! Once entering our escape game, I was blown away by the props and details. Our game included a list of characters (all from different countries in Europe) on their way to Budapest. Our mission was to find who murdered a guest on the train, all within 1 hour! The room was filled with puzzles, word clues, key locks, and hidden codes that made it a fun experience. Tip: They will allow you to ask for three clues through out the game, which is definitely a huge help when you feel stumped! Although the price is a bit steep ($34/person), it's worth it for the experience! I'm sure the other themed games are just as intriguing and challenging, making this place worth checking out! read more

Our team finished the Budapest Express in about 40 minutes. I don't think the room was very well designed compared to other escape rooms I've done before. The props looked great but wish there was more to solve rather than just lock combinations. We ate at the restaurant afterwards and the food was great. Went here for a team building event with my company. It was a great experience. Has a bar and food for before or after you escape (or not.) I didn't have any drinks, but we did have the catered taco bar, which was top notch. My group did the Under Pressure room, which is the hardest one at this location. We were told the room has a 9% success rate. We finished it we 10 minutes left on the clock. The initial puzzles were fairly easy, but became more complicated towards the end. This room was really engaging, and had a good story to go along with it. The one thing I didn't like was that you simply "escape" out the same door you come in, which was physically unlocked the whole time in case some needed to get out for an emergency. Overall it was a good experience, and I would definitely go back. read more

Really impressed by this place!! First, I really appreciate that they have a bar and food on site. So show up early, have a drink, grab some food. We had a variety of apps and some beer. Ok then we did Under Pressure. This is one of their hardest rooms and we didn't make it out; bring a strong team if you're going to get this one. We have been to several different companies around town and this was one of the best. Two things we really appreciated the most: The room/tasks were well built and clean. There is nothing worse than a run-down room with crapped out locks or letters that have been rubbed off. This room had very good locks and tasks. So you knew that when a lock wasn't opening it was your fault, not just a bad product. Also, the tasks were very creative. Some more than others but we really liked a handful of the tasks. They were hard but still felt solvable. Sometimes you finish a room and realize you NEVER would have solved that. That's disappointing. This place didn't feel like that. The puzzles were certainly tough but with good communication and thinking we're all very doable. Overall this was a high-quality place with well thought out tasks. Played a few rooms here and really loving it. They have food and drink options (called Solutions Lounge) that are not bad (not great), which is really convenient. Also the brewery next door is a nice option. Rooms are really well decorated with higher quality props, and nothing feels cheap or flimsy. The storylines make sense and add another layer of fun and immersion. Each room has a pretty accurate difficulty rating. Directions are thorough. Parking is pretty easy on the street, but you might be a block away. "Game Masters" have all been friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. You ask for clues with a button, so no annoying hand waving at a camera. Clues are written out on a screen, so easily read. As of now, they often have Groupon deals that come out to ~$18 per person. Otherwise, the $30/person price tag is a little steep for some. If you fill the room (6 or 8 people), it can feel tight. The rooms have linear puzzles, so the group can only work on one puzzle at a time. If everyone wants to be involved, people can feel left out since 6 people can rarely crowd around a puzzle. Keep it in mind and maybe keep your group smaller if you're all avid puzzlers. We had a lot more fun with 4 people compared to 5 or 6 in a 6 person room. read more

Pros: Staff, bar and food were all amazing. The whole building is cool to be in and the bar makes it even better. Food was great from the ravioli, to the French Dip to the Cheesecake. Happy hour is from 3-6 and the drinks were really strong and good! Cool puzzles around and the lounge is comfortable. Even got a 15% discount for the second room we did. Rooms were super clean and good themes. We did budapest and shanghaied. Two of the hardest rooms there. Cons: cons are really about the rooms though. I think there's way to much going on. I know it's an escape room but some of the clues have no rhyme to the reason. The compass and ruler scenario in shanghaied is very difficult and it doesn't make sense how to figure out how to use it. The clue we used for that part didn't help at all. They should have said to flip the ruler upside down to use the captains guide to figure out how to get the code for the lock. Also, the employee even slipped up on using the black light to figure out the code on the wall. If you want to pass when going here, don't do these two. Start with an easier one. Overall good environment and rooms, just some kinks that can be worked out. read more

This was my first escape room experience, and I wanted to love it. Alas, I must give it a "like, but don't love". I liked the ambiance of this place. Very steampunk, which I enjoy as an aesthetic. It was professionally run. Everyone was friendly. It was more expensive than I thought it should be. Drinks at the bar were pricey. The room we booked was apparently one of the harder rooms. Being that we were all kind of escape room novices, I thought was a poor choice on our part. The theme of the room was cool - cyber terrorism. It was really crowded in the waiting area while people waited for their rooms to get set up, which made it hard to pay attention and hear directions. Overall, I just felt like the experience wasn't worth the money spent. I would do another escape room, but maybe not with Escapology. read more

I've done a lot of escape rooms with the husband. The bar/restaurant being attached is super cool. The themes are fun. Overall, this is a unique experience. I took off a star for two reasons. One, this is the first room I've ever been in where a needed clue prop was broken. I had to keep fixing it to even progress forward and wasted time. Two, at one point, we needed a hint and were given a hint for a step we had already solved ten minutes ago. But of course it stopped us for a while thinking we hadn't. So we wasted time. I finally asked again for a hint. Same thing, a clue for something we solved. So I said out loud we were past those steps and finally our hint was quickly switched to where we were. But, that was a bit surprising. read more

I chose escapology primarily because it was close to our office. I ended up scheduling weeks in advance for 15 people and that occurred with relative ease! When we arrived the food and drinks came out quick with great service. As for the room itself, we had some issues with things getting stuck or not opening which led to some frustration but otherwise it was really fun and presented a cool challenge. Food is so-so. I wasn't overly impressed with the entree and the dessert wasn't anything I wanted to finish, had a bite and was done. I wouldn't return for the restaurant portion. We were scheduled at a specific time and they were running late, no worries, but it would have been great if an employee would have told us that so we didn't think we had been forgotten. I would go back for the actual escape rooms. We had a small group and had so much fun!! The hour flies by, I wish there were longer time options. If you've ever wanted to match wits with Hercule Poirot, then now's your chance! Budapest Express is more of a detective room than an escape room, and provides a great twist to players wanting to experience something a little different but just as challenging. Instead of puzzling your way out of the room, you'll be puzzling your way to the heart of a murder and trying to find the person responsible for it before they come for you as well. Keeping this in mind is pretty key to getting out of it - interestingly enough, I suspect novices with less preconceptions about how an escape room is 'meant to be' might have an easier time than experienced groups used to charging through one challenge after another. The room design and decor is also fantastic! A lot of the searching for clues also felt really organic - it wasn't 'look for this doohickey hidden in some weird corner' as much as 'rummage through things and pick up on specific items to come up with a solution to the mystery', which was nice. This is one of those rooms where you can definitely see the amount of thought, planning and effort put into making it all come to life, so kudos to Escapology for that! read more

My hubby and I love trying out escape room games in various cities (domestically and internationally. While visiting Denver we played Cuban Crisis and we were so impressed by the professionalism and high quality of the game/company! The game host (Sean) was GREAT!! Super friendly, fun, and added to the whole great experience! He got us checked in, showed us a high quality video of the rules and then the game's storyline. I got us pumped up! The decor in the room we also top notch! Following the game (and yay we did "escape"!) we were on a high for the rest of the night! As a result, we ended up booking another game for the next night! (can you say "addicted"??) We booked "Arizona Shootout" which was much harder than Cuban Crisis. Arizona shootout is considered "intermediate" and Cuban crisis is "beginner". We had no idea of the difficulty level but I guess we got lucky that we booked in that order! You don't have to be genius-level or a walking encyclopedia to enjoy this game by any means. You just need a little logic, critical thinking, and a fun spirit! With more experience, you'll develop an "escape room mindset" which will definitely help as you try new and harder rooms over time. decor, and quality of the game! We aren't drinkers so we didn't enjoy the attached lounge but the ambiance was great! This is a great event as a couple or a group of friends looking to do something fun and unique! Some friends and I were visiting Denver for a show at Red Rocks and decided to do an escape room at Escapology the day after. Most of us were still recuperating from the night before when we arrived at 330 PM but that didn't stop us from taking on the hardest room there. We chose "Under Pressure" which was a submarine themed Room. I thought the staff did a great job of explaining things and the room was designed in a cool way. I hesitate to explain further because I would hate to give anything away for future players. The game was super engaging and really fun! We didn't escape :( but we were on the last puzzle so that's something? Also! They were doing a cross promotion with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and we found four free tickets in one of our clue boxes. That was an unexpected, yet really great surprise! read more

Great interaction with employees from the time we stepped in the door until when we left. The bartender was very nice and made the drinks very well I think her name was Rachel (but not sure). This is one of the best escape rooms we've visited locally. It's far more professional than some of the others. The rooms don't feel like they've been culled together from a thrift store and the clues are logical and make sense. (I've been to some others where the clues were a huge stretch that wouldn't have been figured out without clues.) I also love that they have a bar and restaurant. I've only eaten appetizers so far but they were good and the drinks while waiting are a great bonus. read more

We just did Escapology Denver... What a great place. We did 3 rooms in 3 days. 2 adults 2 kids. we went 1-3 . Each room was really well designed with great attention to detail. All rooms are linear which to me is a bit of a minus. The staff was excellent from the owner to the bartender !!! thats right it has a bar/ resturauant as well so you can take your drinks with you. We had a very attentive G.M. who figured out a mistake in the setup of day 2 which was "under pressure". I didn't feel like we were set back too badly but the staff did . So they started a game for free for the next day . I really like that I didn't have to say a thing.. they knew and made it right without any hesitation. we beat the train to Bucharest which was rated an 8/10... and got arrested in the murder mansion !!!! I would highly reccomend if your ever in Denver !!! A big shout out to Shawn and Julanica !!! the owner as well is very approachable and very personable. read more

Brought my family here as a Christmas gift and we all had a fantastic time. The environment here isn't cheesy at all. The restaurant and bar has some really (surprisingly) good options. We loved the Brussel sprouts and the Shanghaied cocktail. With food, drinks, and the escape room it can get a bit pricey but I honestly think it was 100% worth it. We did the Cuban Crisis room and felt it was the perfect amount of being challenging without being impossible. It was such an amazing bonding experience for all of us to work as a team and get away from phones and technology. It's been 3 days and everyone in my family is still raving about it. The lady administering the room and keeping an eye on us recognized when we were really struggling and provided clues when she knew we were at a loss. Giving this place a 1 star because of the amount of disrespect and rudeness we received from the staff here. There was a group of 5 of us doing the antidote room, we were super excited given that it was our first escape room for all of us and weren't sure what to expect. When they got us into the room they said they would play a short video prior to us starting. Given that this is a society filled with about 80% of the population on some kind of social media platform, we opened our Snapchat and started recording one another's reactions because we were so excited and wanted to document the moment. Almost immediately a staff members burst into the room LITERALLY yelling at us to turn our phones off, that it "states it in the videos that no phones are allowed at any time during the excursion", right as he burst in, a few seconds later was where the video showed the part that says no phones. We said OK sorry, that we would turn them off, we genuinely did not know, and pointed out the fact that as they walked in was where that part came up on their video. How about you tell people this before hand? Had they given us a few more seconds, we would've put them away on our own or not taken them out at all if they told us in advance. After that staff member left and was done yelling at us, an older man literally seconds later also burst into the room yelling and threatening to kick us out and demanded we show him our phones to make sure the photos/videos were deleted. First of all, that is a violation of privacy and you have no right to demand that from anyone. And secondly, we had already complied and put them away, so what gave you the right to threaten us and yell at us that way for the 2nd time? You have cameras in the room, so there was absolutely no need for the scene you made. We finished the room in about 16 minutes, we had higher expectations and after we were done, we all mutually agreed it wasn't worth the money paid. Definitely will not be stepping foot in this joke of a business again, respect goes a long way in a customer service oriented profession. Take the money we gave you for our business and learn a few things about what that all entails, we will not be recommending this place to anyone. read more

I really enjoy escape rooms and Escapology's rooms are designed very well. Unfortunately, during our visit last weekend, we were escorted to our room and had a bit of a room set up issue. While a staff member was explaining the rules, I noticed some lock boxes were left unlocked and open. As she was leaving, I asked if they were meant to be open. She replied no, that this portion of the room had not been reset. My boyfriend and I offered to step out of the room for her to reset it, but she said it would cut into our 60 minutes. Instead she said, "you didn't see anything" and relocked the box in front of us. While this was unfortunate, we still had a lot of fun and would likely return to Escapology in the future. read more

I've been to other escape rooms before and Escapology really takes the cake. Their rooms are so detailed and well thought out. I liked the themes of the rooms too! I had a whirl at the Budapest Train room and had a blast with my family. It was their first time doing an escape room, and I know that we will come back for more. Afterwards, we had a bunch of appetizers, our favorite being the cheese curds and shishito peppers. They had cocktails inspired by the rooms and I tried the Arizona Shooter, which was amazing. All in all, it is a wonderful place to spend some quality time with people and team-build. The owners were helpful and informative and made sure they everybody was being attended to. I've now done 2 rooms at Escapeology and this review is the aggregate of both rooms. The first room I did there was The Code. It was an interesting premise but we felt the clues didnt flow well together and we had some major issues with the technology in the room that ate way too much of our time. In the 8 rooms I've done, this was the only one I walked out of feeling dejected. I'd give the Code a 3/5 because there we're cool ideas but I wasnt thrilled with the execution of it. On the other hand, the second room I did, Antidote, was amazing. The narrative and flow of the room was great with just enough prompts that would leave us scratching our heads to solve the puzzles but never really banging our heads against the wall in frustration. I'd give Antidote a 5/5. I'm glad I went back for the Antidote room and I cant wait to try out their other rooms; including some of their expert level rooms. read more
