Mango salad - Super tasty salad that is a play on the street vendor mango but in salad form. It is a mix of julienned cucumber and mixed ripe mangoes with some Tajin and vinaigrette. Would recommend to try. Mr mole taco - I don't think it is a truly authentic mole, but still a good taco. At 12 dollars for 2 it was a bit steep, but still pretty good. I would rate them a 3.5. Don't expect authentic Mexican cuisine. More of an Asian fusion. Sweet beef tacos and cherry glazed ribs. I guess I was more in the mood of the classics. My second experience at this place, and just like the first time it was very good. Try the margaritas, they aren't shy with the tequila and they had a couple of options, we had the lime margarita and the blood orange one. Both were excellent. We ordered steak tacos, cod tacos, and a vegetarian quesadilla The tacos were winners, but I found the quesadilla needed a little more flavor, perhaps because I'm not use to vegetarian. The tacos here are overpriced and bland! Drinks: it's a hit or miss, most drink items have tequila (which suits the theme) but not my fav choice. Food: the food was SO overpriced. I ordered the pork taco and it was just ok, but quite pricy for the tiny portions. I also ordered the nacho 2.0 that were good, but nothing exceptional. However, the churros are a must for dessert! Service and ambiance: the service was good, but not outstanding. The most attractive aspect of this restaurant is its decor. Every wall is full of colours, objects and cacti! Hands down one of my favourite taco spots and now they have a location in Laval ! Catch me eating tacos weakly now! Walking in to escondite you're greeted by the same type of decor as the other locations the best way to describe its is a luchadors perfect hang out. Lots of neon lights cactuses tacos and Mexican symbols it really gets the experience going. I got a table for two as I was having dinner with a friend and we decided to get a few tacos to sample. While waiting for said friend to arrive I got a michelada which I high key recommend. Once we ordered we settled on a mango salad to start followed by fish tacos,al pastor tacos, Korean beef tacos, and chicken tinga tostadas. Each and everyone of those tacos was delish and provide so many depths of flavour the fish tacos were so good we actually ordered another round. Horrible experience! Overcharged and left with no recourse. This place confirmed for a massive group of nearly 40 people. Requests were made by the person organizing their bday, and promises were made by the management (emails to prove it). They ran out of what we requested before they even served us. HOW do you run out of beef and chicken tacos in a taco joint? They did not bring out nearly enough food to any of our tables. Everyone was hungry & disappointed by their experience. As for me, the waitress screwed up so bad, I ended up with about 8 extra drinks on my bill. To compensate me, the "manager" tried to give me extra shots as I'm trying to pay so I can leave this awful experience of an evening. Attempts were made to discuss the situation, we were largely ignored after an initial "we'll look into it". So here is my review. If you give people bad service, wrong orders, run out of food, overcharge people on drinks, and then ignore your own vow to look into the matter, this is what you get. PS: after 3 1/2 hours of this nonsense. we left before they brought out desert, which was also part of our package. If you're looking to have a group event here..... STRONGLY reconsider. read more

I'm in love with their cauliflower tacos. They were amazing! I also tried their shimp and chorizo ones and they were just ok. The guac and chips are the best I've ever had thus far. The decor is really cute, with pastel colors and neon signs. Their drinks are fun and the service was a bit slow but friendly. Hands down some of the best tacos in the Greater Montreal Area, and that is saying a lot for someone originally from Texas. For starters: Their drinks are amazing. I had something that came with a cinnamon stick that was lit when it arrived. It smelled and tasted delicious. Their guacamole was tasty with a bit of a kick, the baked tortillas it came with were perfectly crisp, and their mango salad was so refreshing. I couldn't stop eating the mango salad. The tacos were AMAZEBALLS. Honestly. We were a group of 4 and just ordered a bunch of tacos. I can't remember them all but we had Baja, Al Pastor, Pollos Hermanos, Steak, Cauliflower, and La Tinga. Everything was soooooooooo good. My favorites were Pollos Hermanos and the Steak. Everything else was still good but those were my favorites. I would go back another time and just take a later seating so that we weren't rushed. We were warned when making our reservation that we had to be gone by 8:15 as they have to flip the table and that is completely understandable. I think we were nervous so we rushed to order everything and then we scoffed our food and were stuffed. The only "bad" thing is that the tables are too small. Since the tacos are served on such big platters, then you have your plates, water glasses, drink glasses, cutlery jar, lantern, etc... the table got crowded quickly. read more

They have a tasting menu for 30$ where they bring you each a hot appetizer, a cold one and then 1 taco. I recently went to Escondite in laval for a 40th birthday and I thought that you should know the adventure we had that evening. I wanted to love this place.. trust me... Make yourself some popcorn because it was an interesting night. Now, i am well aware that serving a group of 35-40 people is no easy task however the issues our table had directly is outstanding. Since our group was so large, we were given a fixed menu. A menu that the birthday girl discussed with someone and was confirmed that we were to receive: mango salad, chips & dip, quesadillas, chicken wings, ribs, fried chicken tacos and pulled pork tacos. Everything was confirmed. I started off with ordering a spicy margarita. Mistake. This was honestly the worst drink I have ever had in my life. Sitting at our table were 7 people, 6 of which returned their beverages and 4 of which are mixologists so I can assure you, it wasn't just me. We are drinkers and not fussy ones at that. One of the girl's at my table decided to call the manager over and advise her that we were dissatisfied with our drinks, to which we were told "maybe your tastes are too fancy?" I see..... Then we get the mango salad. terrible. There was so much dressing on the mango salad that it was soup-like. It remained untouched at my table (all three plates) as well as the table beside me. When we brought this up to the manager, she brought the table next to us a replacement dish. So one dish for two tables of 7. Once again, I see......... We finally get our tacos (or lack there of). In the menu that the birthday girl discussed with someone, she advised the individual that she did NOT want fish tacos but instead would like it to be replaced with pulled pork. the confusion that there was, was truly unbelievable. The waitresses kept on coming out with fish tacos (something that was NOT on the menu) but when one waitress finally came with the pulled pork tacos the birthday girl was promised, she was told "Sorry, we ran out. Here are 8 tacos". So are we supposed to share the 8 tacos with the 36 people that were present? Now, it's midnight, and we still have not received our dessert or bills, so we ask for both because we have plans elsewhere (plans that we were late too). The waitress hands over the bill and to my surprise, I have a $300 bill (plus tip). Ehhhhh what? How is it that I had 17+ drinks on a bill for two people? After looking into it, my husband and I realized that the waitress put every single person's drink at the table on our tab. So we called the waitress over and advised her that there must have been some sort of mistake. At which point the waitress ripped the bill out of my husbands hands and stormed off... only for it to come to our attention later on that she went around telling people in our group that my husband made her cry. Is this a joke? My husband is the calmest person you have ever met in your life. The manager then walks over and we discuss with her. She walks off with our bill, and we assume she is going to fix something but instead comes back with a couple of shots. We explain that we aren't interested in the shots but would like to have our bill fixed. Needless to say, the manager left and came back on 3 different occasions ... with shots of tequila. Now at this point, we are not pleased. The manager isn't listening to what we are saying and we aren't getting anywhere and we just want to go home! Now, if I may ask, where in all of this is the professionalism? we were told that the restaurant "ran out" of food... but were you not aware of the reservation that was made a week before? How is it our fault that Escondite ran out of food? I finally walked out with a $267 bill (plus tip) because at that point, I was just so fed up I wanted to get out. I walked out with an empty stomach because there wasn't nearly enough food on the tables to feed everyone and an empty wallet. I can assure you, that I was not the only one who was so disappointed. Needless to say that the 7 people at my table were beyond unhappy and there was also a lot of grumbling at the other tables. Please don't take this as me trying to get anyone in any trouble but I thought that someone higher up should know what is going on and that fact that we kept on receiving excuses for the issues we were having that evening. My husband has been to the Montreal location 5 or 6 times and always raved about it. What happened? I am beyond disappointed with the lack of professionalism and unfortunately will not be returning. All I got to say is yeeesss papAbsolutely LOVED this place. I'm not a big Mexican food lover, but oh boy did this hit the spot. First of all, I love the location. I'm getting really tired of having to go alll the way to mtl and look for parking to enjoy a nice meal out. So having a delicious and super nicely decorated resto close by is amazing. Second, the staff was very friendly. Third, the foooood. Wow! A must try is their BAJA taco. Crazy good. It's small portions, much like a tapas resto. We ordered 2 tapas, 3 different kind of tacos (they come in twos, pretty small) and the churros. Enough food for the 2 of us, I actually would have been good with only 2 different tacos.
