We were broken down with a CV Axle in Broken Bow, OK after attending a friend's birthday party in one of the cabins there. We searched around the next morning and found Eskew's Garage and Towing. The driver was courteous and understanding, picked up my vehicle and towed it to their yard, letting me know that they had picked up quite a few (10) vehicles that weekend alone. That was April 5th. I called on April 14th, and they still had not taken a look at it, but they were pretty sure it was the CV axle. I called again April 21st, still hadn't looked at it, and after I explained that I couldn't pay them if I didn't have my transportation, they called me back and said they had ordered the part and should have it finished sometime on the 22nd by 5pm. I understand they were busy, but at least tell me that you aren't going to work on it for three weeks. I'm going to tell you their pricing on everything, down to the last penny they charged for card service fees (because I could not come down there and pay cash, knowing that they were charging people but not disclosing the card service fees upfront). * Towing from the cabin to the yard $116. * New CV Half Shaft from O'Reilly's $246.03 (checked with the store and the part was only 142.99 and they don't charge for part delivery to Eskew's. ) I checked. That means that they screwed a customer out of over a hundred bucks on just the parts. Talk about dishonesty. * 3 hours of labor $285. That's more than $90/hr. * Credit and/or debit card fees. I didn't get the percentage increase, but on one card for $500.00, it was $18.75, and on the other for $146.03, it was $152.54. ASE-certified Now, there are some unnaturally high prices for labor, considering that the average ASE-certified Mechanic is making $23/hour. I would have even paid as high as $50/hour...but $90? Come on. This is an example of a small business that is robbing ordinary people blind. They prey on vacationers to sustain their hustle, knowing that they can place a lien on your car until the debt is paid, and they can charge whatever they want, and nobody will notice. I noticed, and some other prominent people will also take notice soon. What's amazing? They managed to pick on someone just educated enough to fight back. I can write a review. That is my only recourse at this time. I think what frustrates me the most is that no one else has bothered to post about their services in a while, and now I can see why. I do not recommend this service on the following: dishonest business practice, increased industry prices, no upfront pricing, lack of communication with the customer and increased parts pricing for the customer. We rented a cabin in Broken Bow that had a steep driveway that had some sort of fresh slate laid down. Our tires sank into the rock about 6 inches and our car got stuck. We tried to slowly roll back down the drive but the slate pulled the back tires and jarred our car over the side of the driveway and almost rolled the car. There was a rock and tree roots that saved us from that. I called AAA and they sent Eskew Garage to our rescue! Nathan showed up on time, even earlier than expected, and quickly took care of our car! While renting a cabin in Broken Bow (Beaver's Bend). While waiting for his wife and my girlfriend to make it into town, my friend and I decided to go off road exploring on Bear Mountain, out near a friends "off grid" cabins. (Solar power, no T.V. no internet, total isolation in the wood experience.) -- Now, while exploring, we were taking one of the trails just a bit too quickly for the tires that came on my friends new Ram 1500 4x4. The sharp rocks along the logging trails, sliced the sidewall of the tire like a knife through warm butter. We rolled back down the trail, got on some level ground and changed the tire out, no big deal. (Other than it was about 103 degrees outside.) Instead of heading the 8 miles back in towards town to get a the tire replaced, we pressed on with the spare now on the truck. What are the odds of *two* blowouts, right? 15 minutes later we found out, pretty damned high! Benny Eskew, the owner of Eskew's Garage and Towing, came out and got us out in short order. We weren't waiting too long. But let me share with you, when he came over the hill with his big flatbed rig it was a helluva relief! He got the truck loaded up, and managed to turn around on the trail. As we were driving back out, when we ran up on low hanging branches, he would stop, hop out and pull down tree limbs, so that my buddy's new truck wouldn't wouldn't get all scratched up. As he drove us into town, he even called ahead to the tire shop, just to make sure they would stay open late so we could get new tires on the truck that evening. (Try getting service like that in the big city! It wouldn't ever happen.) Bottom line, if you ever need a tow in the Broken Bow area, this is the shop to call! Oh, and remember, if ever you are unfortunate enough to break down and need a ride in his flatbed tow rig, watch out for that exhaust pipe on the passenger side, that sucker is hotter 'n hell. -jr read more
