Having major surgery in November actually made it all the worst having to stay in bed for nearly two to three months. And then Covid hit...um, Let's just bypass that entire conversation. I have been craving specialist who can really dig in deep without the high pain and relieve that tension for good. Not just a quick fix. I had a really good chiropractor before my surgery that I loved but, the pain, of course, always comes back. Found Ben Monday via Yelp and continued researching and reading the reviews on google. Everything I read seemed in line with what everyone else was saying. They were all really good things. The fact that Ben wasn't going to give a relaxing massage is exactly what I desired. Booking was super easy and I went yesterday. He was not what I expected. Though professional in his knowledge, he has a really great and shining personality. I can't wait to grow our rapport and get back to a healthy and functional me. The wisdom he shared regarding what triggers what and what needs to be released and adjusted where was really eye-opening to me. It all let me know that I've been really hard on my body for the past few years (especially since I don't remember the last time I even stretched)! but, what gave me great hope is that Ben has no doubt in his mind or expertise that I can get my body back where it needs to be. I found most of these places to be a waste of time and money. I had a session with Ben for the first time without high expectations due to past experiences, but was pleasantly surprised. My legs are also constantly sore from working retail--I'm on my feet all day with concrete floors. I was in bad shape my first visit with Will. He lets you know ahead of time if you're going to feel the spot he is going to help you with, and confirms his finding that spot with his telltale "mm-hmm!" He helped me to loosen up and put some real pressure on my knots. I was sore day two and felt incredibly limber the next day. I am impressed with his knowledge of the human body and his ability to right it using his hands (and for hours on end, no less!). I still can't believe the price for the house visit either--he is more than reasonable. Visit two, I can already tell that the knots are smaller and fewer. The experience is a true exhale. I am grateful for his work, service, and company. He's an incredibly kind person and a total pro when it comes to body aches. He incorporates stretching with TRUE deep tissue. It took me a long time to write this review, mainly because I didn't know how my review would add…read moreto the others below since all the other reviews are pretty spot on - he really knows his anatomy and can pinpoint your problem areas even before they become a problem. He is very methodical in his massage, meaning he's not just massaging your back, or leg, or arm, etc. just to kill time. He is always actively looking to see where the problem areas are, and after he identifies them, he hones in and relieves the stress/tension/inflammation and doesn't move to the next spot until he's satisfied that the knots are gone or at least "broken up." Many of my hour-long massages are JUST of my neck and shoulders, because of the amount of tension I have there. What prompted me to write this review NOW is that he literally saved me yesterday, when I texted him early on Sunday morning, desperate to get a massage later in the day. I somehow managed to get a rib (or two) out of alignment and was in so much pain that it hurt to cough, laugh, sneeze, or even inhale sometimes. He of course was accommodating (as he always is) and helped relieve the tension in my muscles. Then he directed me to his chiropractor (who was excellent by the way - Dr. Terry at The Joint on Holcombe and Buffalo Speedway, but that's a different review) so that I could get my spine realigned. This morning, I woke up and all the pain was gone. I was not a believer of chiropractors before this incident but I am now. I came to Stan's Hands Massage and Wellness for Swedish Relaxation Deep Tissue Massage. Stan knows the techniques to release the bad energy and promoted good energy through massages. They moved to this building early 2019. I like it much better because of parking and privacy compared to last location. My favorite therapy is Sciatica Massage. After sitting at my desk working from home for so many years, I forgot to exercise. That turned me into needing to see a massage therapist more often. They usually give me discount coupons on my birthday and holiday. I also come whenever I can to get treatments. I came back after received my birthday discount. So, it shouldn't strike anyone as a surprise that eventually a massage therapist would pop up in my review repertoire. Treat yourself, am I right? That said, Jeremy / The Body's Source will be the one (and only) massage therapist who I review here on Yelp, because he is the very best! Jeremy's the real deal. He truly takes a therapeutic approach to body work -- I can literally feel the stress leaving my body. And when you commute from The Woodlands to Houston every day, you're stressed, okay? :P I visit routinely every 2-3 weeks and I've noticed that each time I visit, Jeremy does something different during my massage. What that tells me is that he adjusts his method based on me individually - even from session to session - which is the sign of an exceptionally caring MT. The office is clean, comfortable and smells wonderful. Jeremy utilizes aromatherapy / essential oils to promote relaxation/stress relief/etc. and again, tailors what he uses to the particular session. When my massage is finished (always too soon), he gives me water to rehydrate and flush the toxins out. We also typically chat for a few minutes. His demeanor is really warm, and the conversation comes easily. To sum it up, regardless of what kind of day I've had prior to my massage, I ALWAYS leave feeling like a million bucks. They specialize in neuromuscular massage, so don't expect a spa-like experience with the usual Swedish massage. It starts off with a simple massage table in the office which is decorated with sports memorabilia. You keep your clothes on, a bedsheet is draped, and then he works on you through the bedsheet to your muscles. But like a spa, there's relaxing music playing (through a CD player!), and I usually end up dozing off at some point because the massage feels so nice. Afterwards, I always feel relieved of my tightness-- so good! John is obviously very good at what he does, understands anatomy, and accommodates to preferences (pressure, focusing on specific areas, etc). His clients range from well conditioned high school athletes (and of course Carl Lewis) who come for performance and recovery, to "normal" people like me with a bit of stiffness, to others with chronic pain or problem spots. He is also a really friendly man with an old soul and a good heart. MT and I have told so many friends about him and some have become regulars. His other team members also offer the same neuromuscular massages, and his wife, Ellen, offers physical therapy too. And if you're lucky, you might meet the pet bird, Dexter! He's a sweetie :) You can choose sessions from 30 min to 2 hours long. Definitely pricey-- 1 hour for $110, but it's definitely worth the money (health is wealth!). I wanted to keep Massage Therapy a secret but they deserve the love and 5 star rating over and over.
