I have been coming to John at Massage Therapy for a few years now, and he's amazing! I come here because of neck / shoulder / upper back tightness from work and probably poor posture, and he's able to relieve me from all of that each time. They specialize in neuromuscular massage, so don't expect a spa-like experience with the usual Swedish massage. It starts off with a simple massage table in the office which is decorated with sports memorabilia. You keep your clothes on, a bedsheet is draped, and then he works on you through the bedsheet to your muscles. But like a spa, there's relaxing music playing (through a CD player!), and I usually end up dozing off at some point because the massage feels so nice. Afterwards, I always feel relieved of my tightness-- so good! John is obviously very good at what he does, understands anatomy, and accommodates to preferences (pressure, focusing on specific areas, etc). His clients range from well conditioned high school athletes (and of course Carl Lewis) who come for performance and recovery, to "normal" people like me with a bit of stiffness, to others with chronic pain or problem spots. He is also a really friendly man with an old soul and a good heart. MT and I have told so many friends about him and some have become regulars. His other team members also offer the same neuromuscular massages, and his wife, Ellen, offers physical therapy too. And if you're lucky, you might meet the pet bird, Dexter! He's a sweetie :) You can choose sessions from 30 min to 2 hours long. Definitely pricey-- 1 hour for $110, but it's definitely worth the money (health is wealth!). I wanted to keep Massage Therapy a secret but they deserve the love and 5 star rating over and over. If you are looking for a real massage, not just a rub down, look no further! You keep your clothes on, and you can have them focus on the area that is giving you trouble. That's the one thing about going to a spa that just bugged me! The massage therapist would walk in and ask "is there any place bothering you? Any area you want me to focus on?" And then wouldn't focus on it. Insisted on rubbing my feet for crying out loud. Not here - You tell them where it hurts, and how long you want them to work on it. And THAT'S what they do. Now, it isn't always pleasant because they get after it! But afterwards, it's amazing!!! I had Anastasia work on my shoulders. My chiropractor was at her wits end trying to fix them. A couple of appointments with Anastasia here, and BAM, all better! Sooooo happy I found them. Found them on the Internet for goodness sake's. And boy, I have not looked back. First visit was awesome all around! Booked appointment online easily for the next day. Paying online made check out fast. Donald is the therapist I've been looking for. He listened to my concerns, asked good questions and got to work right where I needed it. I've had neck pain for about 6 months and have been loosing range of motion. In just one visit I feel relief and was able to turn my head without shooting pain. The visit was 30 min, no oil, clothes on (although I wore a tank top) and he worked on me in both a chair and on the table. They do offer Swedish massage, sports massage, and can use oils if desired. The office is nice and parking was free with adequate space. I look forward to future visits with Donald. If you are in pain stop spending money elsewhere to feel better and come here. I have been seeing John now for 6 weeks. His business seems to be mostly entirely through word of mouth, so I would have never heard of him normally. A friend of mine starting running marathons and complained of chronic shin splints. I recommended a running coach to her, and he recommended her to John. I have been having pains in the lower portion of my knees for a few years now. A sports med doctor was unable to find anything. Finally my trainer suggested it be a muscular problem. That's when I found John. He has done the basic massage training but takes it to another level. His is a healing art above the general desire for relaxation. Since seeing him my knees and ankles have stopped hurting. My flexibility has improved. In fact my 1 mile time improved 1 min even after not running AT ALL for 2 weeks. When I first saw him and explained my pain, he was clear that my problem may not be muscular; it could ligaments or bones, etc. He said I would know with about 3-4 sessions if his treatment could help me. I had some relief after the first session. My right knee took more time. I came to John late last year with severe neck and shoulder pain (from an old injury and general wear and tear). Not wanting pursue chiropractic adjustments I chose to try the soft tissue route to healing with massage therapy. If you have your muscles working properly then your joints tend to follow suit. ( I can safely say that with great authority after dealing with scoliosis for the last 30 years and having many different techniques done on me to try to relieve my symptoms.) So John's technique of neuro- muscular therapy is very unique. He focuses on deep seated trigger points and muscular connections where the pain emanates from. He also incorporates gentle stretching that I can tell you feels amazing when your muscles have been tight for so long. I had immediate relief after my first session and continued going on a weekly basis to enforce the treatments. Now I can say that I am relatively pain free and see John on a maintenance basis. The other unique thing is that he can do this while you are clothed so no oils to deal with so if you need to get in during your work hours you can get back to the office without that to deal with. If you are frustrated with getting popped by a chiropractor or other treatment methods for pain relief I would highly recommend giving John a try. And I would also recommend that in many cases you should get more than one treatment, especially if your pain is chronic, severe, or the result of an injury. read more

I've been having problems with shin splints for about three years now. It has preventing me from increasing my speed for the half-marathon races. After the first session my pain subsided by half.
