The young lady at the desk informed me that because I had not confirmed the appointment in advance my appointment was forfeited. She said staff had tried to contact me to confirm but the number they had was not in service. When I asked what number they called, they provided a number that was a completely different area code than my own. I asserted that Oakwood did, in fact, have my accurate number, and showed her the text exchange wherein I'd actually scheduled the appointment with them using my accurate phone number. Another admin staff, Brittany, got involved and offered me appointments in either different locations or months in the future. She was pleasant enough, but I reiterated that I had the proof of scheduling via text on my phone, and I had taken the day off work to attend. I understand things happen, and you can't always get what you want (or even schedule for). However, I've worked in customer service in some capacity for over 20 years and I know that it's not only good business but basic human courtesy to offer an apology when the business you represent has in some way caused the consumer an inconvenience. AT NO TIME DID ANYONE IN THAT OFFICE OFFER AN APOLOGY, nor anything resembling of an acknowledgment of regret for my inconvenience. I wasn't expecting accountability or recompense - just an "I'm sorry this happened" would have more than sufficed. Perhaps they were embarrassed about the mistake, but what they should be embarrassed about is the lack of basic customer service. Oakwood, you're big and have good providers doing good work. Please do better.

Tooth #31 was quite the little troublemaker, as it had deep roots and was positioned near my gum line, leaving many oral surgeons hesitant to take it on. Determined to find someone who could help, I came across Leading Edge Periodontics on Hylan Blvd. After checking out their wonderful reviews, I decided to give them a call, and to my delight, they were able to fit me in just a few days later. I have to say, the positive feedback I read really lived up to its reputation! When I arrived at the office, I was greeted by a spacious parking lot, which made everything easy and convenient. The ADA-compliant ramp was a nice touch, showing that they care about making their office accessible for everyone. As soon as I stepped inside, I felt at ease--the office was spotless and beautifully designed, creating a welcoming atmosphere right from the start. The front desk staff were super friendly and could tell I was in a bit of pain. A lovely young lady took my information with genuine kindness, making sure I felt comfortable as I filled out the necessary paperwork. Within moments, I was led into the examination room and put on a dental bib, ready for what was next. Once my X-rays were sent over from another office, Dr. Peto came in with a warm smile. His calm and approachable demeanor really helped to put me at ease during what could have been a stressful experience. He carefully examined my tooth and explained that the filling I had received a few weeks prior wasn't done well. With care and clarity, he walked me through the extraction process so I knew exactly what to expect. He numbed the area with a few injections of Lidocaine, which he administered quickly and effectively. Then, the Nitrous Oxide helped me relax even more, which was a great bonus! In no time--less than ten minutes, actually--Dr. Peto had successfully extracted my tooth. I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went, and he was able to do it without making any major cuts into my gums. Afterward, he carefully stitched up the socket and sent me home with prescriptions for antibiotics and pain relief. Plus, I received a thoughtful aftercare package with everything I needed to help me heal comfortably! Every single person at Leading Edge Periodontics was absolutely wonderful. From the receptionists to the dental assistants, their friendly and caring attitudes made all the difference. I experienced hardly any bleeding during my recovery, and at my follow-up appointment a week later, I was thrilled to learn that my socket was healing beautifully. They encouraged me to get in touch if I had any questions or concerns, which made me feel supported even after I left. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Leading Edge Periodontics to anyone in need of dental care. Their friendly and professional team turned what could have been a daunting experience into a really positive one. I'm so grateful for their excellent service and the care I received throughout the entire process!

I guess he's so hard up for patients he had to stretch that incompetent answer out to 2 appts. I wasn't going to fight with this lunatic but that's below parr medical ability. I will never return. If I could give him zero stars for being so incompetent, I would.

I went to a new dentist this year and the new doctor said I need major work on my teeth that are much more complex than simple cavity fillings and it would take eight visits to correct everything. I am upset over the years I've wasted going to Dr. Kratenstein. Two root canals and a tooth extraction doesn't happen overnight and Dr. Kratenstein did not catch any of it. (Not to mention a couple of handfuls of cavities.) The office is also small and dark and not welcoming. I would not recommend this place. Also, wasn't he caught exposing himself to a teenage coworker AT the office in 2015? So again I ask, this place is still open?

HOWEVER -- their billing needs to be more transparent and accurate. Ask for written documentation for everything, especially if you're out of network. I'm not sure what the front desk receptionist's name is now, might be Nina, but she would make comments about people receiving checks from their insurance and never returning. I brushed it off because I was in pain, I'm still grieving a family loss, and my birthday was coming up. Though I kept it in the back of my mind as a subtle jab at assuming I wouldn't pay. I received a call to confirm my appointment from the receptionist who informed me I needed to make a payment when I came in. Didn't specify how much, didn't make it seem like they'd be asking for the full amount in one day. I said no problem, as Dr. sterling informed me in the chair as he was working on me that I could do payments rather than pay it all up front. I said that was perfect. I get to my appointment and I'm asked to pay the full payment up front right then and there. Again, receptionist gave me the same story about people just never coming back to pay. Don't know why, since I was standing there with my card in hand ready to pay. I just wasn't expecting to pay the full thing at once when I was told I could do payments. The economy is in a tight spot for everyone right now and dental work is expensive. I wish I had 1500 lying around to pay all in one shot, but I do not. Again, this isn't an issue of me not wanting to pay. It's the utter lack of transparency and communication. Speaking of 1500, that's how much the front desk told me I owed. So I payed 800 the time of my visit and said I would pay the rest when I'm able. I received a bill today and my total is suddenly over 1600. What? What happened to 1500? And if it's an extra charge because I didn't pay it at once, who was going to tell me this? Also, not having an option to pay online is ridiculous when I have to work during the day and sometimes don't have time to call and make a payment on the phone. This part is more a convenience thing for me, but if billing is going to be this much of a mess might as well have an option for patients to do it online. Always ask for receipts and ask for a break down of costs wherever you go, lest you run into a weird back and forth and passive aggressive comments that make you feel like you're about to "dine and dash" at the dentist. I'm going to make my payments, just make sure your office is accurate the first time. Again, good dentist. Great work. But this billing method needs to be reviewed and redone. Additionally: I was told claims would be sent to my insurance and that they would then mail me a reimbursement check. Come to find my claims were never sent to my insurance company.
