Never again! Requested a couples massage, accepted the $10 up charge just to walk into a cold room with old, nasty looking and ripped blankets! The therapist Cheryl didn't seem to listen to my request..left out my feet completely..when I asked her at the end why she didn't massage my feet her answer was "we ran out of time " yet she spent plenty of time massaging my bottom!!! When I challenged her point she added "I don't do feet" huh!?? Ok..I respect that..but shouldn't you disclose that to the client instead of taking away from my experience and making it feel incomplete!?? I wear heels all the time..my feet are sore and they need plenty TLC if you can't provide that give me the chance to select another therapist!!! This place is providing "essentials" only! I went to Essentials for a massage with Carlos on 11/12/15. I want to thank my fellow Yelpers for recommending Carlos. I get professional massages somewhat regular to ease some muscle pain associated with working at a gym. Carlos really knew how to make me feel better. Although, there is nothing fancy or special about the reception area and/or massage rooms, for the price it can't be beat. I cannot give Essentials a higher rating because they do not offer hour long massages (the basic massage is 50 minutes). The reception area particularly the couch also looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. In a nutshell, for the price and knowledge of the massage therapists it is a good deal but don't go expecting a luxury spa experience. read more

If I could give this location zero stars I would; let me start with this, I have ALWAYS been an Essentials lover for over 12 years. I'm a regular attendant for facials, massages, hot stones, and mini pamper me days for Father's Day gifts. So when we decide to plan a one night staycation in Sarasota .... It's a given we want to stay by an Essentials. We spent our 'staycation' relaxing and what better to relax with than a 90 minute hot stone couples massage. Or so we thought. Upon arrival to this location, we were told we could wait in the quiet room. No big deal. We're picked up at 4:08 (appointment was 4pm but it's fine)... we're then walked to a room and asked what we're looking for? Me - confused, I said "90 minute hot stone massages? That's what we booked." I was then asked if I was a part of the Groupon and where I'd like the stones? The two women left the room and did not return for 7 minutes. We then began at 4:15. I will spare you details of how miserable our massages were, but I'll let you know that when they asked about pressure and we said relax.... We did not mean elbows dug into our backs. When we booked 90 minute hot stone massages .... We intended for them to be 90 minutes, not 75. When we said hot stones.... We did not mean for you to laugh and talk about how hot the stones were, and then place the stones in a warm towel draping it across my back.... Only to leave them sitting there in a line. When we booked a relaxing massage, we did not book for you and the other therapist to stop during our massages and talk. We didn't pay extra for the scrub and stones to have them rushed or barely used. We did not even offered water afterwards or were greeted by our therapists once we walked out. And we SURELY did not intend on paying $230 for this HORRENDOUS and half done service. Never. Again. read more

I've been to the Bradenton location several years ago and this location blew me away. The ambiance was so calming and welcoming, a perfect warm-up to an absolute fabulous massage. I had the stress relief massage with scalp massage, hot stones and foot and back scrub and Ariel was amazing. I've been here many times because they're about the only spa I can afford for the massage time that it takes me to relax; but I'm at the point that I don't think I'm going to come back. Of the times I've been here, the sheets have smelt like mildew, I had a masseuse that was drinking wine the entire time and all I could smell was the wine, I had a time where all I could hear was the conversation going on in the room next to us, the place has previously looked seriously run down (haven't been back in a little while to see if it's been changed) and I had a time where all the guy did for 90 min was rub my body back and forth for a relaxation massage. I know that the rubbing strokes are supposed to be a part of it, but it was honestly the majority of it. The front desk staff wasn't bad for any time I've spent there, but my sister has complained about them in her experiences before. I'm giving two stars because of the affordability of the price, so if you're desperate, this place can be used. Just know; I've given up on it, because I no longer get relaxed there enough to enjoy it and I just don't think it's worth the 50/50 chance of having a bad time for 100 bucks read more

Best massage value in Sarasota. The walls are a little thin, but that is remedied by either asking the therapist to turn up the music or bring ear plugs. The therapist next door was very chatty and it was distracting me, so I asked to turn the music up and went back into my massage induced trance. Here's what I look for in a massage center: cleanliness, friendly staff, great massage and good value. This place had them all. I would, however, like to thank the yelper who recommended Carlos. I specifically booked my appointment with him and he was amazing! Word of caution when you ask for hard pressure he can definitely deliver it. He checked in with me to make sure it was good for me. Also another tip: the $25 introductory price is for a "soothing" massage, that translates to soft. I think you have to have realistic expectations. If you want more pressure upgrade to the therapeutic massage for $35. Well worth the extra $10 and you are getting a great value! I don't know any other place in Sarasota that you can get a deal like that. And it was a full hour, not the typical 50 minutes. My only criticism is their tipping signage. They recommend between $10-20 for a $29.95 massage. That's a beginning tip of 30%. I gave $10 on a $35 massage which is more than 25% and I felt that was very appropriate. I also had a facial. It was done by Sara a nice basic facial again, 1 hour and was a $25 introductory price. For $60 plus tip I was thoroughly fluffed and buffed! Went home took a nice long bath, had a glass of wine and I was an impenetrable fortress of relaxation. Oh, I wanted to address a yelpers comment about "butt" massage. If you tell the therapist that you are having back pain, then expect a good therapist will massage the gluteal muscles as that is a point many people hold stress and when they tighten it pulls on the back. Just remember to communicate if you don't want that or anything else. Carlos did ask me if it was OK to do that region as I had presented with lower back pain. I had gone to a chiropractor the day before for an adjustment and was still in pain. I said yes and when I left Essentials I was pain free thanks to Carlos who really knew what he was doing! I am so irritated by this purchase and company. I purchased an hour couples message and only got 40 mins. There is an alarm clock in the room, so it was easy to see we started at 11:12 and completed at 11:52. This is a 33% decreased in the service time promised. PLUS, when you get there, they ask you if you want a deep tissue message or a relaxing message. The deep tissue message is an extra $15. My husband opted for this. I went with the traditional message, or excuse me, the relaxing message. It was AWFUL. It was a light touch. Hardly even should be called a message. It was the pressure which you would pet a dog. I am just horrified at the bait and switch, unexpected up charge AND the fact they shorted the message by 33% time. I spoke to them about this on the way out and the removed the $15 deep tissue upcharge. But what about the 33% reduction in time? Nothing. read more

North Sarasota location Scheduled a couples massage and facial. When we got there it was not scheduled as a couples massage. Anyway I started my massage which was with male and I requested a female the person that was to do my boyfriends massage was not even there. So he waited for about 30 minutes and then walked out side. when the lady finally got there no one ever can outside to look for him. When I got done with my massage which was supposed to be an hour BUT was ONLY 27 minutes they said they could not find my boyfriend. So I told them I was not getting my other service because I was dissatisfied with how everything went so far. I Authorized them to charge me $49.99 for my massage only and to not charge my card for anything else. When I left I looked at my credit card account I saw a $50 charge. I called it there and asked them why there was a $50 charge on my card. I was informed by the manager that I was being charged a cancellation fee for the other services that were not performed. I let them know that they did not have permission to charge my card that amount because we were there and they fail to provide services in a timely fashion. This was a gift and I left more upset and stressed then when I got there. The manager was extremely rude and unwilling to discuss anything because I am young.
