We made the mistake of trusting Dan and Sherry to conduct the sale. Dan told us the sale was a small one but Sherry told us ( after the contract was signed) that Dan didn't charge enough for the size of the sale. The pictures of the items online were photographed poorly and grouped together badly. They sold 36 items! That was it. The final tally was a NEGATIVE $140. My parents made zero! A garage full of tools and they sold 8! They decided ( without our knowledge) to put some items on eBay. They didn't sell the items but charged my parents a $300 eBay fee. They are incompetent at best dishonest at worst. We are trying to discuss this with them but they won't call us back. Very disappointed to say the least.

While owners Lee and Tiffany seem to be genuinely nice people, and there were isolated positives--such as Lee honestly notifying me and securing cash he found while sorting the estate--the overall experience was deeply disappointing due to systematic delays, poor communication, and marketing failures. I met with Lee on April 30. He explained their process, stating that virtually nothing of value would be left worth donating and highlighting his background as an appraiser. This gave me confidence that items would be properly identified, staged, and marketed. Unfortunately, the execution fell short: * Rushed Prep & Poor Lotting: Despite being completely upfront about the massive size of the estate, the final preparation days felt frantic. Valuable items were grouped into large miscellaneous lots with minimal descriptions. Commercial construction tools (drywall, roofing, woodworking) were stacked on top of one another so buyers couldn't see the inventory. Valuable Christmas collectibles, including three trees and highly collectible ornaments, weren't even mentioned in the descriptions. Unsold items were stacked in front of closets, blocking access. * Platform Limitations & Omissions: I received the auction link only after it was already live, discovering pages of needed corrections. I then learned the platform has a strict listing limit--a crucial constraint never disclosed upfront. Consequently, valuable items were omitted entirely, while deeply personal items like my school yearbooks were mistakenly listed. * Substandard Photography & Staging: The platform doesn't support video, making high-quality photography vital. Instead, photos appeared taken haphazardly with an iPhone. An expensive watch featured a blatant reflection of the phone in the crystal. An etched glass artwork was photographed against a stone fireplace, blending into the background so completely it looked like a lump of stone. * Missed Historical Context: A Federal parlor set with documented provenance was broken into three separate lots simply because they couldn't photograph it together. The historical context and provenance were entirely omitted, significantly diminishing its market value. Pickup day on May 28 went well with a hardworking crew, which left quite a mess themselves. Tiffany apologized for the issues and offered to run a second auction to clear the remaining items, noting she had more personal knowledge of them. Unfortunately, that second auction never materialized. Over the next several weeks, I faced repeated delays, missed appointments, and excuses. On multiple occasions, I rearranged my schedule and waited at the house for hours, only to find out they weren't coming after I initiated contact. On the final scheduled date, Tiffany was hours late; after reaching out, a third party told me they wouldn't be coming and a representative would call to resolve it. He came out, but offered no resolution. Because the listing of my home was contingent on the estate being cleared, this lack of commitment has left my real estate agent completely unable to list the property. Furthermore, the financial accounting has been slow. Payment for the first auction required prompting. As of July 10, I still have not been paid for items pulled into a separate jewelry-only auction, despite it closing a month ago. Switching companies now is incredibly difficult because the remaining items are disconnected, making it hard for another auctioneer to build a cohesive sale. We selected their service to help us with an on line auction to declutter my 91 year old mother in law's home as she transitioned into an Assisted Living facility. With regards to feedback, it is certainly mixed. The initial interactions with JM were positive. He described the services they provide and the fee structure. He met me at the home to see all the items that would be included in the auction. On short notice, we identified a date that his team came to the home, took pictures, catalogued all items, then set up the on line auction. The team leader was very well organized and efficient. The team was able to complete this entire process in a single day, then the auction went live. The auction went well and only a few items were not bid on. Caring Traditions also had a well organized pickup on Saturday, Sept 21, 2024. After the auction, there were several "miscommunications" that were quite frustrating for us. During my first phone conversation with JM, I asked what happens to the "leftover" items such as trash, documents to be shredded, and leftover furniture and household items. He told me that Caring Traditions would take care of all of these. What he did not say up front was that we would be charged for each of these services!! So over several weeks my wife and I disposed of lots of boxes of trash. We had 12 boxes of documents to be shredded. He said he would charge us $90 / hour for time to transport these to a shredding service plus charge us the shredding fees! We took these to a shredding facility. And there was a charge to take items to a donation facility. After several messages back and forth, we agreed to pay $200 to pick up a large china cabinet and donate it to a charity. I picked up another large item and donated it. The most upsetting issue for us was the accounting proceeds from the auction. In our initial phone conversation I asked JM about the fee structure for the on line auction. He said we'd pay $5,000 plus $300 marketing fees. Then we'd receive the first $5,000 proceeds from the auction (paying us back) then split 60% (to us) / 40% for any proceeds above $5,000. I have detailed notes from our phone conversation to support this. When the sale was over, he changed the accounting methodology and shortchanged us $967! These were funds that were intended to support a 91 year old woman in Assisted Living! I really think this is an integrity issue, not a simple misunderstanding! I do not intend to take legal action or BBB complaint, but want others to know this happened. We certainly will not use his services again!
