    Poor quality plumbing example
    Jon W.

Our experience with Booher remodeling for our bathroom remodels was very poor. This review is long because I feel if you are like me, getting ready to spend tens of thousands of dollars, you need to know what I got for my money. I'll start with the good: * Our project manager was a super nice guy, very honest and great at communication. * The project computer rendering was amazing. We got a very good idea of what the end result would look like. Unfortunately, everything else was bad. When Booher came to give us a quote, I told them exactly what I wanted. The exact tile, shower glass, tubs, I even gave them the paint code. We had several other quotes and Booher was the highest. However, we assumed that the renderings and reviews were an indication that Booher was a quality company. We couldn't be more incorrect. After we signed the contract, we went and selected the exact finishes from Booher's vendors that they sent us to. Our total project price increased by $6,390.35! That amount exceeds the original quote even though we were very clear up front about exactly what we wanted. A few hundred dollars over the quote is understandable for product variances but an increase of over $6,000 (after we signed the contract) is outlandish. I wish I would have walked away at that point and forfeited our deposit but I didn't. I brought my concerns to Kathi (the owner) and Paula (she handles the billing) via email. The response was very rude and not sympathetic. These people have no customer service skills at all. Day 1 of the project: demolition. Not a single permit was pulled for our job. They removed a wall, added two walls, added electrical, modified existing electrical, plumbing, etc...all with no permits. This was a second red flag and a sign that they are amateurs and possibly a scam. They tore out our old shower to reveal that there was no insulation behind it on an exterior wall. Not a single person brought this up to me. They planned on just leaving it that way. I brought it up and was told that they thought it'd be ok... having no insulation in Indiana is not ok. They missed an opportunity to upsell me on something that is minimum code (and would have been required if they pulled permits). Since it is something that absolutely needs to be done, I had to run out that night and do it myself before drywall guys came in the next morning. If I hadn't noticed this major issue, we'd have a $35,000 bathroom with a freezing cold bathtub and busted pipes the first cold day of winter. Once the work actually started, it was all very poor quality with the exception of the electrician and the drywall finisher. The plumber's work was sub-par, at best. He didn't have a cap for the old copper pipes so he put in an adapter to PEX, some short PEX lines, then capped those. It works but it's not the right way. They also coupled pieces of PEX together that they either cut too short or were making use of scrap materials they had lying around. This is also not the quality that I would expect from a professional organization. The framing was loose in several locations (I could literally move the studs back and forth with my hands). The niche was installed off center. I caught the tile guys not using waterproofing in several locations before they tiled (who knows how many spots are not waterproofed that I didn't catch). The electrician cut holes in the ceiling and removed insulation to the attic to do wiring... then Booher tried to patch the ceiling without putting insulation back in. I had to re-insulate those spots myself. Then, halfway through the first of two bathrooms, no one shows up for a full week. I have three kids and being down a bathroom is difficult. Having no activity at all for an entire week while we are down a bathroom is really frustrating. On the second bathroom, we decided to do a simple one-piece tub. After the tub was delivered, we were told that they can't get it into the house to install it. So we go with a tub/tile surround to match the other bathroom and pay even more $. After that, everything goes smooth until they grout the floor... completely wrong color grout (both bathrooms are supposed to match) and no one at Booher can figure out what color was used on the first bathroom. It took a week and a half for them to figure it out. So once again, over a week with nothing happening and we are still down a bathroom. The final product is fine, not amazing but adequate. Lots of signs of poor quality still like uneven tiles, missing grout spots and poor quality drywall patches. And now, to really end this project on a sour tone, they are spamming my email inbox. They apparently hire a marketing company to send emails every single day asking for reviews on the major review sites. Be careful what you ask for Booher, here's the review you are demanding.

The remodel took about 3 weeks from beginning to end and our Project Manager, Gary, was here every day.

David L was our initial poc and I should've known something was special about him when he kept pulling more and more items out of a moderately sized bag like a magician with rabbits. He came to our home and worked with us on what we needed versus preferences - including concerns and potential issues we didn't even think of. His time and focus on our project was just the beginning of our walkin shower journey. Our second poc was Carrie who is exceptionally competent at the "office" side of the business; she managed the inner workings and even made direct contact with the VA for us so that we wouldn't be stuck in the middle. Her affable nature and consistent communication made this part of the process - which I thought would be the worst - easy and stress free. Our materials took some time to come in but we never felt forgotten during those weeks. And then installation day came! Our expert installer, David H, literally sealed the deal for us. He was so respectful of our home and genuinely a delight to work with. He is well versed in this industry and his skills are beyond compare. I was impressed that he knew the answers to most of our questions but of the few he didn't know, he called someone who did to provide us with accurate information instead of just making something up. We were extremely pleased with his personality and his workmanship. In the end, we got an outstanding new bathroom shower with zero hiccups and complete confidence in Superior Bath Systems. We could not have found such a unique and positive experience with any other company; I am sure of it. I would give this company far more stars if I could; definitely recommend. Thank you to everyone who made this happen for us!
