From a buyer's perspective, GB is fine and we don't want to discourage anyone from attending their…read moresales. From a seller's perspective, however, GB was very disappointing and unprofessional. If you're searching for an estate sale company to hire for your home or a loved one's, I can't recommend this company at all. We had an estate sale in April because we're downsizing and moving soon, and we had numerous issues. Coincidentally, we found out the day after our estate sale ended that the company had recently been sold and that the new owners were not good (it used to be run by Sal Sierra). PREP: Grey Baron (GB) had nine days* to sort, price and stage our estate sale, and they didn't get everything done. I had many items that were never priced and made available to sell, but the GB team left early almost every day of the prep period, and on several days there was only one person here working. *They initially scheduled eleven days for prep, but at 5 p.m. the day before Day 1, GB texted me that they were delaying because they didn't feel they needed the full 11 days! Apparently they were wrong. PRICING: GB's prices were extremely inconsistent and I concluded that they don't really know the value of a lot of the items or don't know how to use Google Lens (e.g., $600 on a used, scratched coffee table that I bought for $12 at Goodwill; higher prices on new decor pieces than on antique, hand-painted items). We weren't expecting to sell anything for top dollar, but starting at $1 for vintage china or glass dishes, etc., was setting the bar too low. They also separated sets of items and sold them as individual pieces (e.g., salt and pepper shakers, silverplate cream and sugar sets). STICKERS: The stickers that they used were good because every item had a bar code, but they were too small to include a decent description of the item AND they were very sticky and ruined a few items (e.g., silverplate, painted items, frames). SECURITY: Even though we gave GB a key to our house on the first prep day, two days later they left at 12:30 p.m. (for the day!) while we were at lunch and we came home to find our garage door wide open! When I complained, GB said they didn't know how to close the door. What?! This is the biggest complaint of all because we trusted them with our home and our pets, and they completely dropped the ball. Anyone could have walked right into our house. And to clarify, we hadn't moved out yet so our all of our valuables were in the house in the off-limits rooms. PAYMENT: One week after the sale, GB mailed me a check. After two weeks and no check, I followed up. GB said that we certainly should have received the check by then and offered to stop payment on it and replace the check, which they did. GB brought the new check to our house and left it in our mailbox even though we were home (it was a check for over $10K!). Thankfully we were able to cash the second check, but we were very surprised to see that it was not only a personal check, but that it was also post dated. It's been well over a month now and the first check still hasn't shown up (I'm honestly not sure if they every mailed it or if they were just making excuses to delay paying us). We're glad to be done and to have most of the items sold, but it was a very disappointing, stressful experience and we know there are better companies out there. We made our decision based on GB's ratings and reviews, but those had to have been based on the former owner's sales or just reviews of individuals who attended one of their estate sales.

These folks worked their behinds off to pull off an outstanding sale. Efficient, easy to shop - everything marked and ready to go. I don't know how they got it done and opened as quickly as they did. Up front and clear about pricing, payments, and expectations. No fuss, no hassle. Highly recommend!

I emailed the Vintage Girls and provided them with specific explanations for my review (***after they threatened to sue me***), which they have ignored and rather chosen to publicly take our conversations out of context and twist them into falsities. As I've told Vintage Girls, I have no interest in this drama, but I would like to respond to a few details of their slanderous response and also provide the reader with more context: Here's a quote from my review: "At the beginning of the process, they communicated pretty regularly. It took a little prodding on my end to get the date of the sale finalized, the contract finalized, etc. but it was fairly painless." The first screenshot attached backs that experience. Here's a flagrant tale from The Vintage Girls: "She did not answer the phone, so a text message was sent to her asking what was going on, that our team was told that there had been a party there and that there were people still sleeping and beer cans and trash in the home. Julia-Ann's response was "let me step outside and finish my joint and then we'll get everything cleaned up"." If you look at my second screenshot, I did send a text in reference to a joint being inside the house which was a joke and was made because of their grossly dramatic response to three beer cans being in my kitchen. I did not have a party the night prior - I had four almost-thirty-year-old women over to watch a football game. Third screenshot: I reached out to a disgruntled reviewer who posted in 2010 to see if the Vintage Girls confuted her review, and it was no surprise that they had. This company has been bullying their clients since at least 2010, folks. Thankfully I was able to defend myself from The Vintage Girls by citing Georgia's anti-SLAPP motion. If you are in a similar situation as me with the Vintage Girls, this article will help you sleep tonight: http://www.lawcounts.com/blog/92-anti-slapp-gets-a-big-boost-in-ga.  My last screenshot is the response I received from The Vintage Girls after my email citing the anti-SLAPP motion. These women are unprofessional bullies. RUN.

They have regulations, conditions, and penalties that they do not mention/disclose when they are trying to get your business. In my case, the contract was not delivered to me in electronic or hard copy form until the end of the Estate Sale. Effectively after the fact!!! When it came to receiving a check from them, I had the following issues: 1. The check was late and delivered close to a week later after I complained. 2. For personal reasons I removed three objects from the pool of items to be sold the day before the Estate Sale. Without consultation or warning they went ahead and deducted the 40% of the "expected" sale price for the removed items, claiming research and marketing fees. 3. I lived in a subdivision where Estate Sale signs are not allowed and where visitor parking restrictions are very strict. Consequently, I had a person stationed at the subdivision gates to operate/open them for the Estate Sale customers for five (5) hours both days of the sale. That was a person who did not receive any compensation for his work from this vendor. 4. This vendor reserves the right to charge a 3% penalty fee for the homeowner being in the home during the set up and the Estate Sale. Had I known that I was not supposed to be in the house at the time of the set up or the Estate Sale I would have complied. I must admit they did not charge me with this fee mainly because I did not interfere with their work in any manner; on the contrary, I helped them as much as I could including carrying heavy furniture to the buyers' cars.

This worked and the sale was pretty successful. What was not were the two pickup days and the post-sale customer service. The woman in charge of my pickup had a serious attitude problem and became increasingly rude and aggressive towards me because the items were not assembled the way they should have been. I paid one of Max Sold's partners over a thousand dollars to do the organization and listing at the beginning of the process, and when the pickup team arrived, they were not happy with the way things were handled. There was WAY too little time and too few staff assigned for pickup. In addition, I was promised by my MS rep that the large items would be picked up at the end of the second day to allow pickup of smaller items on table tops and shelves to be picked up first. This was completely false. The very first person to show up had bought a 5-shelf rack full of items. The rep also assured me that the staff on site would make sure no damage was done to the house by those removing furniture. This was also false. Since there wasn't enough staff to monitor the buyers, no one was watching as large pieces of furniture were moved out, causing damage to the walls on two separate occasions. After the pickup was over, I was unable to get anyone from customer service on the phone regarding the problems. It seemed no one was willing to take my calls. After calling twice per day, every day, I finally got my rep on the phone. He didn't want to hear about the issues with the pickup team, and wanted ME to be the go-between between Max Sold and the rental management company regarding the damages. This process was supposed to make my life easier. It was supposed to all be handled professionally by MS. I had to insist he contact the management company and deal with them directly, which he did. Then came the sale report and my check. There were FIVE items that were refunded, none of which were discussed with me. I know that four of them were exactly as described and accepted by the buyers upon pickup. The fifth was a printer that was missing a power cord. The buyer researched on his phone a replacement cord and chose to take the printer as-is. Why weren't any of these refunds discussed with me??? One was a very expensive stained glass window which was in perfect condition, with the hanging hardware, exactly as described. So the buyer got a beautiful piece of art FOR FREE?!? To say there were serious bumps in the road is an understatement. My advice is to either do a self-managed sale where you organize the items and handle the pickup, or have them (not a partner) handle the entire process, but NOT while you are trying to pack and move. I'm mostly happy with my check, but this was still WAY more aggravation than it should have been.

The short white lady with long stringy grey hair, glasses and an abnormally large behind that doesn't fit her body... is a total jerk. She was yelling at customers and she called me a whiny child and an a$$hole because I was upset that they allowed the pinball game I had been waiting to buy for 3.5 hours, to be sold out from under me. I got there at 6:30am to be one of the first in line. The door opened at 10am. I knew this. At well run estate sales, if you're buying a large item that you can't bring to the register, you go find the item you want to buy, remove the price tag and bring it to the cashier to buy the item. While I am upstairs getting the price tag, some guy (who showed up 10 minutes before the door opened) walked up to the cashier and said he wanted to buy the pinball game. He knew I was there to buy it. I came downstairs seconds after entering the house with the price tag to pay for the pinball game and the cashier told me it was already sold! The guy didn't even go upstairs to look at the game 1st. Also, The people that are after the gold and silver are ravenous monsters fighting at each other to get a silver goblet before the other ones gets it. The workers have no control over the rowdy customers. It's just a very poorly run estate sale. Ive been going to estate sales for decades and have not seen anything as unprofessional as this company and its workers.
