Honestly, the employees I've encountered at the Lakeland, FL, pick up sites have been pretty good. I've bought ceramics, pottery, and glass dishes lots at three auctions and was surprised to see that at each auction pick up location, most of the items were wrapped up, taped up, and the boxes taped shut. Naively, I actual thought this was nice and I appreciated it, especially since at each site, I had several boxes of dishes to pick up. Although this did preclude me from inspecting the items, as well as the fact that none of the pick up locations had or provided areas for buyers to inspect their purchases. It was basically, here are your items, now be on your way. So, after being pushed out, I just took my purchases and left. However, when at home and unwrapping the items, some had major chips. Nothing in any of the descriptions of the lots of dishes I purchased stated anything about any/some items being damaged. Also, a power cord was missing which rendered the percolator useless. And then one lot of china I bought specifically listed dinner plates, but when I got the set home and unwrapped it, they were salad plates, not dinner plates. I completed the online forms to alert the company of all of its mistakes made and requested minimal percentages for refunds. The response I received was basically, TOUGH; if you don't review your purchases on site, you're screwed. I've purchased a LOT of glass and dishes. So, from now, I am going to write questions on the live auction sites for every lot I'm bidding on. And at every pick up site, I am going to require they provide me a comfortable area where they are going to wait for me to take my time to inspect each and every item, regardless of how long it takes. read more

I had to liquidate a house of antiques and quality goods and things literally sold for a dollar. I think they just don't have the reach because there is no way that the items could sold for what they did if they did any type of outreach or marketing. I had a brand new hospital bed that i just spent $1,000 on two months prior sell for $8. A vintage Singer sewing machine in perfect working condition sold for $5. To make matters worse, I had one item that sold for $400 but the buyer never paid so I got $0. What's the point of prequalifying someone if they can just back out and not pay? On top of that, it took 2 months to complete the auction because the first time they came out to catalog, 1/3 of the items were not listed in the auction. Whole rooms were excluded so we date to stop the auction, re-catalog the items, and then start it again. It was a time consuming and wasteful effort. I even understand that the point may be to rid the house of the large items so you don't have to move them. Unfortunately, the larger items like bedroom sets, couches, and tables didn't sell so I still have to move them. In the end, after the fees, the buyers that didn't pay, and the commissions paid to MaxSold, I made $140. Just a joke for the time and effort that went into it. I live in Los Angeles so it's not like I'm in some rural area with no interest. To summarize, if you are a buyer, probably great, but if you are a seller, don't bother, it will be quicker and the outcome will be the same if you just have an open house and give everything away. Bait and Switch Scam I won an auction on Maxsold for a porcelain vase and wood stand. I paid for it and made an appointment to collect it. The vase was described as Antique Japanese. I am an antique dealer specializing in Asian porcelain and stands. It was obvious from the Maxsold photos that the vase was fraudulently represented as antique (it was modern, and worth very little). The wood stand however was authentic, and worth $200-300. ie, I won this lot for the valuable wood stand, NOT the fake Japanese vase. My pickup appointment was at 10am (the first available pick up time). I was first in line, and the first person picking up (I got there early, and the line formed behind me). The seller then told me they had given the stand to someone else by mistake (pretty hard when I was the first in line!). They then tried to pass me off with the fake vase. When that didn't work, they admitted they realized I probably won this lot for the stand (apparently they recognized my name). I got scammed on Maxsold. This scam is simple. A worthless and valuable item are listed together on Maxsold. If the auction lot sells for a lot of money, then you get both. If it goes for a low price, then you are offered the worthless part only. I left the worthless vase with the seller. This scam cost me an hour of my time driving back and forth, plus the time bidding on the item. I have spent over $15K on their auctions, the staff is very rude and NOT HELPING at all. If you have winning bids in 3 different auctions, pick up date and time is the same day, there is no way you can collect your items in one day. If you fail to get $1 item they will suspend your account. Their staff also bidding on the auctions and if you are a winner the item(s) they treat you nasty. They would not give part of my item although I showed the the.photos, One occasion they wanted me to move my staff from second level of the house from the stairway was extremely dangerous, when I asked if they would be liable if I fall, than they kept silent. There are way too much issues with company and staff to list here. I now am using different auction company, more proffesional and always they have people to help you to move the items. read more

I'm a buyer and a seller. as a buyer, there are some great deals. also there are never any organized pickups. it seems like maxsold managed pickups are ran by newbies. most likely they're turn over rate is very high due to lack of training. if you chose to be a seller google YouTube videos on how to take pictures and how to create a listing. you'll save a ton of money. please a never ending headache dealing with these unprofessional group of people. as a seller, be expecting to make less than you would at a yard sale. On one auction I made $330. This means I made $30. It was brand new things worth around $4,000 and I walked away with $30. I do they seller managed auctions. Which means I take the pictures, I create the listings, I handle the pickups and organizing. AND I got $30 and they got $300. Something is wrong here. On one of my other pickups a lady grabbed the wrong items. I called MS 5 minutes after she had left. They told me that they do not contact customers if they get the wrong items. They don't want the customer to think they're being accused of stealing. So I had to tell the lady that drove an hour to get these things that she is out of luck. They did refund the lady that did not get her purchase and then took it out of my earnings. So they basically screwed the customer and me. Some customers will call and say they didn't get an item or whatever the complaint is and without calling me to find out what's going on, they automatically refund them. They must think everyone on the planet are honest people. I have even offered to refund people for things at pickup if something happens to the item that I was unaware of. Typically the customer takes the item and then calls MS for a refund. So the customer gets the item for free and the deduct it from my earnings even though I offered to refund them and I would keep the item. If you read the buyer terms and conditions it says that after leaving the pickup site you are agreeing that there is no longer refunds offered. The items are "As is, where as". Prices and items okay. Not great. Rarely premium - those photos lie. If goods sold are actually good, expect to pay. To me, a used item at the cost of greater than 50% of retail - ridiculous. Sellers, get what you pay for. For 30% of the total sale earnings you can DIY a MaxSold "SELLER MANAGED" or "DEALER MANAGED" sale. You'll do everything - photos, descriptions, measurements, listing, pickups. At the low price of 30%, you get the honor of using their website. Just add 10% more to get the MaxSold staff. They photo and list. My 5 yr old takes better photos and they'll only give you 3 word titles/lot. No descriptions. Every once in a while, a few measurements. That's it. At pickup, these women are nasty. Rude and unwilling to help. Sit in camp chairs and watch the pickup parade go by. Chit-chat, ignore customers. No smiling. No thank yous. Barely will point fingers to where you can go fetch your items. And those women all have their favorites. Later they'll smile and grin, sell unsold stuff at rock bottom or give it away, while still rude to everyone else. "SELLER MANAGED" / "DEALER MANAGED" sales are an absolute pleasure in comparison. But don't forget MaxSold service. Expect difficulty establishing an account - you'll wait until they also lift their fingers to finally approve you to bid. Five days another friend spent, waiting for approval after she'd registered. She missed a sale she'd found with actual antique goods. She's never bid on there after that. What about the friend who was thrilled with her winnings. Auction lots were at a South side storage unit, looked like a dealer closing business at Scott's Antique Market. Nice winnings - some authentic French country, some legit Mission-style. She'd been craving those for years,waiting for the right opportunity. One day before pickup, after sale end, she gets an email. MaxSold is so sorry, auction was cancelled. Nothing to pickup despite the fact she'd won and her credit card was charged. Her email said that instead, her card would be reimbursed within 7-10 days. That's it. She contacts MaxSold. Asks, What the Hey? They respond - state the seller couldn't sell the items. She says, Well Shoot. Sounds like a Seller problem. Legally she'd won and paid for the items. They're hers. No more replies. Trust me, she got it. The unit contents were was lost for nonpayment. The storage company was now in possession of everything within. Probably legit. Except the fact that all the lots went really, really low. A last minute sale. $1000 pieces going for $20. Every single lot. Seemed a little odd the auction cancelled since someone was going to lose enormous value from the auction sales in their unit. Sketchy, to say the least. Thanks for nothing, MaxSold. But we also can't forget another friend's mom. Some serious health issues last couple years. Diagnosed with RA, Venous Insufficiency Syndrome, and Peripheral Arterial Disease. Add that to her Type 1 Diabetes. She missed pickup once when she was hospitalized for a week. She'd won a couple small tchotchkes, didn't think much of it. Figured the Seller wouldn't mind since they could donate with the rest of their junk, or possibly sell again. And not have a MaxSold cut taken out of the proceeds. Keep in mind, she'd spent a total of $15. No biggie. 2 Months later, a scary event on the way to her pickup. A seizure, driving. Big accident. Pickup windows limited, only a few hours. I wonder if thats intentional to make customer pickups hard. Sellers get to keep product and still get paid. Or to benefit the snippy women. Many Sellers would be honestly grateful for this stuff to go, at whatever price it makes. She missed pickup, her 2 lamps cost her $20. Then banned. One computer generated email stating there'd be no more bids from her, thank you ever so much. The funny part? She'd been working separately as a Seller with MaxSold on her Aunt's estate. Despite using the same email/password on the Seller portal as on hers as a Buyer, the Seller side worked. She received phone call after phone call from their reps for months. Email after email, offering to help her in any way possible to do this sale. Forget these people. Buyer beware. Deal w/ crappy products or lousy, snippy employees. Or you can't actually take home won lots. Or, be banned for Act-Of-God kind of circumstances. Sellers, I know they're cheap. But get what you pay for. A number of ATL estate companies play games, don't get me wrong. But a number of them don't aim to put one over on you. They host amazing online sales. Fantastic. Forget in-person sales. Only sign contracts with adequate stipulations for unsold items. Many companies will insert a clause that says they get first rights. Or, get all unsold goods, free of charge. That's okay (to MaxSold) I am now a winning bidder, have to pickup my items and was given a 3 hour window on a week day (working day) else I forfeit and pay. 1 hour is what I asked for - no, that is not permissible. I chose to use Max Sold because I needed to sell off most of my household belongings including almost all of the furniture in a very short time frame. This worked and the sale was pretty successful. What was not were the two pickup days and the post-sale customer service. The woman in charge of my pickup had a serious attitude problem and became increasingly rude and aggressive towards me because the items were not assembled the way they should have been. I paid one of Max Sold's partners over a thousand dollars to do the organization and listing at the beginning of the process, and when the pickup team arrived, they were not happy with the way things were handled. There was WAY too little time and too few staff assigned for pickup. In addition, I was promised by my MS rep that the large items would be picked up at the end of the second day to allow pickup of smaller items on table tops and shelves to be picked up first. This was completely false. The very first person to show up had bought a 5-shelf rack full of items. The rep also assured me that the staff on site would make sure no damage was done to the house by those removing furniture. This was also false. Since there wasn't enough staff to monitor the buyers, no one was watching as large pieces of furniture were moved out, causing damage to the walls on two separate occasions. After the pickup was over, I was unable to get anyone from customer service on the phone regarding the problems. It seemed no one was willing to take my calls. After calling twice per day, every day, I finally got my rep on the phone. He didn't want to hear about the issues with the pickup team, and wanted ME to be the go-between between Max Sold and the rental management company regarding the damages. This process was supposed to make my life easier. It was supposed to all be handled professionally by MS. I had to insist he contact the management company and deal with them directly, which he did. Then came the sale report and my check. There were FIVE items that were refunded, none of which were discussed with me. I know that four of them were exactly as described and accepted by the buyers upon pickup. The fifth was a printer that was missing a power cord. The buyer researched on his phone a replacement cord and chose to take the printer as-is. Why weren't any of these refunds discussed with me??? One was a very expensive stained glass window which was in perfect condition, with the hanging hardware, exactly as described. So the buyer got a beautiful piece of art FOR FREE?!? To say there were serious bumps in the road is an understatement. My advice is to either do a self-managed sale where you organize the items and handle the pickup, or have them (not a partner) handle the entire process, but NOT while you are trying to pack and move. Many precious antiques and other items were not described appropriately or even adequately. The auction was held for my parents, who are aged. I am disgusted that they were taken advantage of in this way. They failed in every way to assist in properly assist my parents with the auction. I bid on five items and won four of them. No where in the auction did it specify which days I needed to pickup the items, it only said "Limited Pickup Times". They gave me a pickup window in the afternoon on a Saturday. I was out of town and asked the support if I could pickup Friday or Monday and they said "no, you cannot and no refunds.... Send a friend to pickup." My friend offered to cover it for me but could only go in the morning on Saturday, another email to support - "NO YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR PICKUP WINDOW - NO REFUNDS". I emailed the ticket to my friend and he went Saturday morning, fortunately the person on site was a human being and said no problem, you can pickup this stuff right now. 5 minutes and he was out of there with everything. Kudos to the on site guy - ZERO stars for the online support people. Some auctions are better organized but overall I would recommend this company as a buyer and will continue to use them. Low sale values, items not picked up/paid for, no follow up from support I estimate that my items sold for about 10-20% of their fair market value. Items were bid on and then not picked up. When asked about it, I was told it was "my problem now". Also, items were not paid for and I was penalized for that. I asked for help from support and was told that I had signed a contract stating that I would be penalized. I don't recall that part of the contract, but all communication was cut off at that point. So, be warned. You won't get all of your items sold, and you won't get a good value for the ones that actually do sell. I've seen other responses to negative reviews and there is a comment about these services being more about "time" than "money" - I.e. in order to assist people in a difficult situation they work quicker to get the items sold. However, that's the first time I had ever heard that as a seller. After talking to at least three different people in the phone and via email during the introductory phase of this process, it would seem someone could have told me that. Also, I've seen where the effort is described as 45+ hours onsite. I had one person come out to take pictures for about 4 hours and one person stay to have items picked up for another 3 or 4. So, there is nowhere near 45 hours put in for these auctions. It seems like an excuse for an exorbitant rate. Now, in my case I was given a $200 credit on services since my auction wasn't that "large". Without that, though, I would have made less than $100. With it, I didn't even make $300. However, by this same math, they did about 20 hours of work for me and cleared over $600. That seems a bit high for the services I received as well as the fact that about 30-40% of my items were either not sold or not picked up - nowhere near the 98% they advertise. read more

I have found great bargains using this site. The staff have been professional and my pick ups have been smooth. Recently, there were some issues with picking up some items that I purchased. I called and emailed MaxSold providing pictures and details of my issues. They resolved the matter immediately. I was given a full refund. I was not "black balled" from the site. I am giving this review because after reading prior posts, I did not expect to resolve my issues with this company. Their first two responses to my email about trying to resolve the issue were "canned" responses that did not address what I was asking. They list ridiculous times for pick up in the middle of a weekday when majority of the people work. So see how it works people you pay-, you can't pick up your item and so they keep it along with your money. To start off..i want to say i have spent over $1700 on 20 auctions in last 2.5 years. Lately..there have been a lot of "seller run" auctions...which i didnt get at the time...but are the biggest scams on the internet. These people get to list...and take pictures..of all of their items...and say whatever they want..and no matter how bad the item is...maxsold will do nothing for you. Case in point...i spent $300+ on 3 computers that were listed "great for a student". I was a chromebook..the other 2 were apple. When i picked them up i realized the chromebook had no power cord...and there was no way to tell how old the apples were. Turns out..they were so old...they were no longer supported by apple....and couldnt even download the newest safari...which means they were incapable of even using a web browser. I was given a $66 refund. Basically "we know you got hosed...but you arent getting paid because you didn't plug the computers in when you picked them up" (i posted a picture of their response). So the only way these were ever "good for a student" is if the student was studying "how to disassemble ancient computers". No responsibility from this company...they basically take their 10% on top of what you bid in exchange for the picture they post! No standing behind their VIP members (yes they asked me to be one)... Or anyone for that matter...just word their items all funky. Like "untested". It's a SELLER RUN auction. Please tell me how they are untested? I will now be filing a complaint with the BBB...and my credit card company since the REFUND button on their website is just as pathetic as the rest of the company. Unless you have a great eye looking at horrible photography...stay away from the used car lots of auction sites. BUYER AND SELLER BEWARE. Update: I was given a refund... AND THEN blacklisted for "threatening to contact my credit card company". I do however still get spam email from them, AND can still log in to my VIP rewards... the hilarity ensues. Unfortunately due to a vehicle breakdown I was unable to make the scheduled pickup time. I immediately phoned Maxsold they were very unhelpful and unfriendly. I was just directed to send an email, which had an automated response saying it is at the seller's discretion. This is interesting as on a few occasions I have been on time for my schedules pickup but have had to wait 10-20 minutes for others, but things also seemed somewhat chaotic! Can't get a straight answer. They refuse to provide you with a manager or contact info for the HR department. The website says $700 minimum fee but I was told the minimum is $1000 in an email where Tabitha not only assumes we don't have money to pay for the service we had inquired for, but also lies & says the minimum is $1000 - see email: Unfortunately, we require a $1000 minimum fee for our services (as we send a team to catalog and photograph the items, oversee the digital creation, marketing, payment collection and supervision of pickup) so I am not sure if you will have enough to hire our services. Horrible experience as a seller. I had many valuable items that sold for $1. I dont believe that they heavy advertise as they state before they have you sign a contract. The way the contract was written and described by the rep was maxsold receives 15% or $300. Now if an auction made under $300 I thought they take the 15%. nope! They charge Minimum $300. the rep said the company helped with time. My response was I could sell the items myself. Out of 53 items my sale made $114 And I got nothing!! They charge a premium on top of your bid price which is normal for a lot of auctions. eBay is the best at only charging the premium on the seller side and not double dip. Selling with MaxSold is a terrible experience. I could not tell people to run away fast enough. Their auction app to list is not coded correct and is very buggy. The support after signing up for an auction is lackluster and non-existent. No replies. Multiple calls to get someone to say they received emails and are working on it. Referral program that was not explained, but told that good to go. Soooo many problems with the selling side. It makes setting up your own garage sale an option. read more

First experience with MaxSold and I'll do it again! I got a great lot for an amazing price!!! It was very easy to register and bidding was free. When I won an auction the instructions were e-mailed to me with a reminder the day of the pick up. Instructions were easy to follow. The house was marked with a MaxSold sign in the front yard. Expect a short wait the day of pick up. The MaxSold employees check you in and then take you to your lot(s) individually to make sure everyone is helped, find the right lot(s), and everything that was won goes home with the correct person. It can be a bit hectic the day of but they were very organized and polite. Tips: If you plan on getting anything big be sure you have extra help with you, the employees are not able to help with moving items. If you have a lot of little items bring something like boxes or bags to carry them to your vehicle. It'll save multiple trips when so many people are coming in and out of the door. read more

I spent two days begging for a different time slot over email and by phone. They were inflexible and unreasonable, despite being open 7 days a week they refused to give us a pick up time that worked for us. This company does not care about the customer at all. I was yelled at repeatedly by one of their staff members, while trying to retrieve my items. I let this go on for about five minutes, thinking I just want to get my stuff and get out of here. Finally, I pushed back and told her to stop harassing me. Afterwards, I got an email from their corporate office threatening my "account standings". They didn't even bother to get my side of the story first. Their process is confusing for both sellers and buyers. Customer support gives mixed messages and conflicting information. Will never use them again. Do not consider using them for a seller managed auction under any circumstances. I regret spending hours to get my auction ready without any support and inaccurate information given over and over again. read more

This group just attempted to rob me. I have bought many items from many nice people over the last year. The seller run auctions are far better than the MaxSold run auction. Those are a cluster $%$#. So today I call them after over the weekend they told me my payment failed. Low and behold they had an old credit card on file. I won three items not adding up to much money at all. When I tried to rectify this just now the young lady told me my account would be rectified or suspended after I provide them with the new card. But I would not receive the merchandise and she would make no attempt to contact the seller. So in other words I pay, receive nothing but I can bid again on other auctions. Terrible and as I said I have had issues with them before, only smooth ones have been seller run! She wanted to rob me so I can continue, hilarious. read more

Terrible. I had to wait outside in almost 100 degree temperature well over an hour before I could enter the house and pick up my 1 item. Only available exist door was the front door. The screen door would not stay open. There was a garage that we could not use. Employees were pleasant. They were understaffed significantly. read more

I would not recommend this company. I asked for information and when I told him I was not interested the agent was so pushy. Kept telling me I asked for information why was I not interested. After 4 times of saying I wasnt interested he fially got the hint. I woul never deal with a company with pushy rude sales people. read more

I'm not one to write reviews positive or negative but I want to let you know about this company. I bid on 2 hats and a set of dishes and won, sort of! I read the rules and you have to pick up the goods you win at a VERY SPECIFIC TIME!! And if you don't you could forfeit your purchase!! Well it's more like YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR PURCHASE!!! I have a medical condition that on occasion prevents me from driving and on the day I was to retrieve my goods I couldn't drive. So I emailed and asked for an alternate solution and MaxSold said they would ask the homeowners. Now mind you we're talking about 2 hats and dishes. MaxSold said the homeowners WOULD NOT accommodate a different time or solution. We're talking about something that could be left on the front step. The total value is $18. Nothing valuable and something that a simple solution could be found. I asked for a refund and now they want to know my medical problems before they will consider a refund. If you can't go to an estate sale yourself, don't use this company. It appears to me that they aren't reasonable!! read more

Bid and won in one of the maxsold auction, however after I arrived on site to pick up my items, was told that one of the items i could not pick because the seller changed their mind last minute and decided not to sell?! So beware, even if you bid and won doesn' gurantee you'll get your items in the end, don't waste time bidding on here. read more
