I came in with my non-Asian coworker and he was helped at the desk while I waited right behind him. There were 3 employees at the front desk. An Italian family came up after me and they were waved over to be helped. I thought maybe the staff just didn't see me but then it happened again. Another European lady walks up and is waved over to be helped. I stepped up and asked why everyone is cutting me off in line and that's when the front desk said "oh sorry about that." After 18 hours of travel, this was a horrible way to start the week. I had a few coworkers staying at the hobo across the street and everytime I walked in to meet up with them, I was greeted by staff. I stayed there last year as well and didn't experience anything discriminatory. I assumed the Downtown Camper would be better since they have a few more amenities in the room such an iron and kettle but this was not worth it. Being treated like you are invisible ruins the entire experience. On top of that, it makes me look at Sweden in a different light. Right outside the hotel there was a group of men that proceeded to yell things like "ni hao Ching Chang Chong!" I expected more from a place/staff that is supposed to be hospitable and welcoming. While we cannot control what happens outside of the hotel, it would have been nice to feel safer in your hotel and free from judgement just because we don't look the same.

They have a bar, workout room, spa area, dining area, this cool neat thing you can lounge in, etc. kind of had a fancy hostel feel, except super expensive. Things to watch out for: adding breakfast with your room is not cheap, 48 USD is what we were told. Rooms are super hot and you don't have access to air and aren't able to turn the heat below around 70 Fahrenheit (and it's only fall, not winter), bar staff wasn't very friendly, we didn't ask for cleaning, specifically said we didn't want it, and someone still walked into our room the first day, terrace tables shown in the ads for the hotel are part of the spa and you can't access them if you don't want to pay, should be clear before hand. We had a good stay here, would say the biggest thing was the room heat issue and we'd wake up sweating each night and have trouble getting back to sleep. But hotel has no major issues, would just expect a little bit more in these areas for the price!

The entry way to the hotel is stunning with a sweeping circular staircase, which is dramatic, but perhaps a bit scary for some people. large windows and a modern appearance made for an inviting welcome. As impressed as I was with the lobby, I was more impressed with the actual room, which was spacious and actually had room to unpack and store items. I loved the wood design (see photos) and the overall appearance of the room looked very Scandinavian. As noted by other reviewers, there is a hidden closet near the bathroom (which is also a bit hidden). The door swings out to reveal a hanging closet and a couple of storage drawers). The location of the hotel is perfect because it's very near the waterfront and very close to the old city. The access to restaurants and shops is close enough that you can walk anywhere. The included breakfast buffet was excellent with an egg station that made some of the best omelets I've ever tasted. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel.

In…read moremy/our case, I wanted to be near public transportation to make it easy to get around and have "choices". Moreover, I wanted A/C, restaurants nearby, and perhaps a little shopping. This hotel fit our needs for the most part and it's in a great location. It is located right outside of Central Station. Around the corner from the hotel is the Arlanda Express station that comes in from the airport (or goes to the airport), the T-Centralen is located inside Central Station and there are entry points on the street(s) nearby as well. Moreover, the streetcar is a short walk away and there are bus stops all around. There are a few convenience stores as well as a plethora of shopping stores in the area. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance and there is a restaurant inside the hotel. Plus I want to add that there are stores and eateries inside Central Station that is literally "right there". The hotel also offers a few lounges for relaxing at the end of the day. Another important highlight to mention is that you really aren't far from Gamla Stan, the palace, and a few other highlights. So, even if you want to walk...nothing is far. As for the hotel itself, the rooms are quite spacious and the beds are comfortable. We found the room to be hot though. There is A/C in the rooms, but the vent is on the window sill. When you close the curtains at night there is no way for the air to circulate around the room since the A/C vent is closed off by the curtains. Then when you open the curtains in the morning the cool air finally gets released. We informed them about this at the front desk and they said it happens and were quite familiar with the problem. We were given a tool to open the windows. During some times of the day it did help, but it didn't help in the evenings for sleeping at all. I had originally asked for a fan, but I may have been misunderstood because when we checked out I was asked about our visit and I said it was "hot" even with opening the windows and I was informed I could have gotten a fan instead of the tool. Ugh! Too late for me/us, but if you plan to stay here and your room gets hot...get a fan! There is a pool and gym at the hotel as well, but you currently must make an appointment to go to either one. The open hours of the pool & gym are not long and they are not open in the evenings late when most folks want to chill out at either. It is a nice pool and gym though. So, if you have time in the morning before heading out for the day...check them out! I personally thought the price for the rooms was a tad high, but hey...loved the location. I'd like to say the entire staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. If you have a question, they will do their best to answer it. If you need something, they will try their best to accommodate you.

If you're considering both and not sure which to choose, I would definitely go with the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel, which for our stay was only $200 more in total. The lobby was spotless and bright, and our room was clean, well maintained, and felt airy and comfortable. Check in was simple and our room service was incredibly prompt during our stay - it was easy to order veggies, fries, or fruit for several evenings when I just didn't want to go out to eat. I do wish the pantry downstairs was better stocked with plain fruit versus fruit with spices or a vending machine so you could purchase drinks after the coffee shop closes. Staying here was also a neat exposure to Swedish design in that the sink had a button to press to be turned on that could also be twisted for temperature changes, and the lights had to be twisted instead of flipped to be turned on. While we didn't mind it, I'm not sure how accessible it is as my guess would be that it's difficult for those with dexterity issues, and we also found the incredibly high tub another questionable but interesting design choice. The room came with a desk, a chair, and some blackout shades, which when there's only five hours of darkness, almost felt like a requirement here and they also had a mini bar with drinks and snacks to choose from. Another positive for the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel is that while it's not as close to the airport, it was very centrally located to most of the highlights of Stockholm, which made is very walkable and easy to commute to and from. We did run into a taxi scam several times, where a taxi driver would accept the ride, and the car that showed up had a different license plate and the driver would try to have us take the ride off the app, so I'd order Uber Black or XL for any of your rides or book it directly with the hotel, as they'll be private drivers and not the taxis you're pared with for Uber Comfort or Priority. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely recommend them.

The design of place has a usually Swedish austere-ness to it but also feels a bit placed in its own time. It's not modern but it's not dated either. The lobby has warm reds and browns as primary colors but with a lot of light secondaries so it feels unique. The rooms are standard for this class of hotel but again with all kinds of touches that remind you that you are in a design-forward country. The bed headboard is quite tasteful, the coffee machine isn't smeg but it could be with its appearance, and a small speaker system looks equal parts vintage and modern. The staff are very pleasant, the location is very convenient, and the price isn't too bad. Recommended!

The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom has a moving wall since the shower is right next to the toilet. However, it's comfortable with a nice shower head, plentiful hot water and is easy to use. Main complaint is that almost the entire bathroom gets wet when you take a shower. I would definitely stay here again!

I know not everyone would appreciate that, but I really enjoyed it. Our continental breakfasts pale in comparison to this hotel breakfast. You really don't need to go anywhere else when there is so much available - rolls and French bread, cheeses, meats, pastries, crepes, fruit, sausage, baked beans, eggs, and plenty of juice and beverage options. The only things I would change would be to add A/C (because Americans are spoiled by it) and a shower door that closes. Otherwise half of the bathroom is wet when you're done. The staff at the hotel is extremely hospitable - they were happy to help us plan a day to the Archipelago, and when we had an issue with our sink, they fixed it immediately and also comped us a bottle of wine, handling it perfectly. Overall, I would definitely recommend it. If you do stay here, I would recommend Dryck Winebar for wine and small bites, as well as Hagabakeri for coffee and pastries. It is everything you think of when you think of luxury, wonderful, comfortable hotel. The hotel itself is luxurious and swanky. When you walk into the lobby, it's bright and vibrant, fun and funky without being weird. Kind of modern but classy. To be honest, we are big fans of the Kimpton Hotel chain from Hilton, which are modeled after European boutique hotels like this one. But this was the real deal. From what I gathered, there are different color themes for the rooms but we happened to land in a purple room (my favorite color). This was likely not intentional but it was a very happy coincidence. I loved our room. The bed was lovely, the linens were comfy, the room itself was well laid-out and I loved our view of the popular little square/park just opposite the hotel. We watched people walk, play with their dogs, children play and snow fall. It was idyllic and just perfect. The staff was always friendly and helpful, happy to play tour guide as well as host. The woman who checked us in was almost overly enthusiastic about giving us recommendations (that's a compliment). In addition to our room itself, there was a self-serve coffee bar on the 4th floor, which made me so so so happy. It was really nice to be able to grab a coffee whenever we liked with no waiting, especially as we fought travel jetlag. Also extremely notable, breakfast is included in your room rate and it was so good that I never wanted to eat anywhere else for breakfast. The buffet was a pretty nice breakfast buffet, and the croissants from a nearby bakery were SO good. SO flaky. And remember we had just come from a week and a half in France! I didn't say it but possibly better than the majority of croissants we we ate in France (and we ate a LOT of croissants in France). And they made small batches of French style scrambled eggs, which just were so good and so much better than most buffet eggs. I seriously just wanted to eat breakfast there and drink coffee. Also notable, there is a small little menu full of other delicious things you can order from the kitchen - also totally included in your room rate and the morning breakfast. The woman who runs the breakfast service (I didn't get her name of course) was wonderful and even remembered our preferences after the first morning. 5 star. My only complaint at all was that our TV remote control was pretty gross. There was a lot of dirt and dust in the cracks (see my picture), which the internal clean freak in me thought was gross.
