Been a customer for decades, so have many family members…read more Normally the tellers are helpful and cheerful. HOWEVER, a recent visit was not. The teller at the west entrance "Faith" has a real sour attitude and disposition. She may need some customer reaction training. Rude and disrespectful.

I got connected with this bank literally by accident. I had just moved to LaSalle and took a fall…read moreoutside my home. I tried for about 15 minutes to get help without success, until a Eureka Savings Bank employee saw me and got help. I was looking for a local bank and everything just seemed to line up. I was trying to build a relationship with a local bank, so I deposited a pretty sizable amount into my checking account knowing that I wouldn't be receiving any interest on my deposit. I did that trying to not only to build a relationship with this bank, but also to be a good neighbor. Fast forward a couple of months later. I found a good deal on something that I wanted to purchase, and needed $3,000 pretty quick, and of course this was on the weekend. I ended up using PayPal Friends and Family. I know the person I was dealing with, so that wasn't a problem, but the $90 that I paid to PayPal was. Up to that point, I had only used the account sporadically. Well anyway I tried to sign up for transferring on-line, and to say that I had a very tough time would be a gross understatement. I felt comfortable dealing with one employee and on Monday when I tried to contact her, she was busy, so I left a message for her. After about 3 hours I tried again, and she was either still busy or busy again. I don't remember if she called me back or if I called her back, but not too long after that I was in contact with her. I asked her if she got my message, and she said she had, but was busy and then went to lunch. I kind of wondered why she couldn't have touch base with me before she went to lunch, because that is what I would have done, but I didn't say anything. Finally, I was able to tell her about my problem and almost immediately she surmised that I must have done something wrong. We both were flustered, but I kept my thoughts in check. She told me that this call was not going anywhere and could not deal with it. Well, that made two of us! Her last words were "when you figure it out, call me back". At that point I thought I was doing something wrong and kept getting the same result. BTW, I am not new to working online. I have three bank accounts and other important things that I do totally online. After getting the same result several times, and even changing my password, nothing changed. I called back to talk to her and was told she was busy, and was told by the branch manager, who was very nice AND knowledgeable that she would try to help me. She was able to dig into my account and find the "red flags" Come to find out that the bank's computer didn't like the way I entered my address. I spelled out my street name like it says on the street sign, but apparently the Post Office and the bank's computer apparently didn't like my proper address. At first, I was OK with that, but after thinking about it I was a pretty unhappy about being judged for doing something wrong when I hadn't. Maybe because I just had to get out of a 50+ year marriage because I got really tired of being wrong all the time, even when I wasn't, added to my frustrations, I found this pretty hard to shake and was confused what to do next. Well, about 5 or six days later I tried to sign up and transfer some money to another bank. Not surprisingly, I still had problems doing what i wanted to do. So, I went to my other bank's site, and it seemed like I could transfer from ESB to this site, so I tried that. Everything seemed to work, except when I went to "pending transactions" ant my other bank, nothing showed, so I did it again. I have notifications set-up at that bank to warn me about any transactions over a certain amount made in any of my accounts, and this was in that parameter, but I got nothing, so I tried them again thinking that they didn't complete. That part is on my other bank and not ESB. So far, I have gotten one NSF charge of $30, and I am expecting at least a couple more. What bothers me more than anything about this whole ordeal is that I felt comfortable enough doing business with this bank, that I had my Social Security check starting to direct deposit next month. I also ordered two hundred checks for this account, and they came last week. I suppose I can use them for a fire starter.
