On Friday the 20th December of 2024 I booked a rental vehicle through the Easyjet website, collecting it from Europcar Manchester Airport at 3:00pm. From the innumerous companies based in Manchester, I chose Europcar as it is a well-reputed company in the market, trustworthy and with relatively affordable prices. According to the booking summary I did not contract any other services or extra options in addition to the car rental. When collecting the vehicle the employee present at the time suggested me to upgrade my cover to a premium insurance, to which I said I was not interested. Upon my answer, your employee gave me several documents to sign under the excuse they were mandatory to the conclusion of the rental contract. The car was returned with a full tank, without any faults or damage, something that was checked by your staff at the time of delivery. I was completely gobsmacked and furious when I received the invoice where you Europcar charged me almost double the amount that had been previously agreed. I will bring again to your attention that I did not contract or subscribed to any extra services, neither at the time of booking nor at the time of collection. After reading SEVERAL feedbacks from other dissatisfied customers on several internet pages, I can finally understand where the issue relies: Because I refused the premium insurance, the employee took advantage of my apparent rush to collect the car keys and the fact that I was a foreigner and non English native, to give me the premium insurance contract to sign mixed up with other paperwork. This is fraud, and you are accountable for it. Unfortunately this situation, which is very difficult to prove, seems to be recurring and many customers were scammed in this way (you can find plenty similar cases here in Google Feedback, for example). That said, my only question is: Are your employees who, in search of commission money, deceive Europcar customers? Or is Europcar the one encouraging employees to carry out this type of fraudulent scheme? Until what extend are you as a company involved in this fraudulent scheme? Either options are despicable and reprehensible. Considering Europcar has been operating since 1949 and has a reputation to uphold, you should be ashamed of your employees actions and take responsibility for their misdeeds. I expect nothing than a full refund covering the extra money that was abusively withdrawn from my account, and for the employees who have been carrying such fraud to be sanctioned and brought to justice. I expect an answer from you within the next 15 days, and in the case of failure I will seek further action with legal authorities. I will also report this matter to the GOV.UK, Trading Standards Institute and to the ECRCS. You can fool me once, but you won't fool twice. As someone who travels to England twice a year, I will never use your services again, and I will make sure this situation is widely spread. read more

I have been ripped off by these guys this week. I prepaid and when collecting the car they asked if I wanted extra insurance or a bigger car. I said no - as i know these are so expensive and I have 3rd party zero excess coverage. When I queried the contract I was signing they said the extra cost was the 'hold' that would be refunded. Car was returned with full tank and not damaged But they went ahead and charged me MORE THAN DOUBLE my original cost because apparently I agreed to take out extra insurance. Why would I want to double insure myself? I now have to go thru their non-existent dispute process. read more

I have often found that hiring a car is almost as bad an experience as buying one, but that was certainly not the case with the Europcar Car Hire location at the Manchester Airport Car Rental Village. Booking through Expedia wasn't the best experience but visiting the actual location certainly made up for it. I arrived horribly early in the morning off of a long haul flight and was promptly greeted by Caitlin who quickly attended to my rental booking. I asked about upgrade options and Caitlin offered my a choice at different pricepoints, she was determined to meet my needs. I ended up was a great vehicle at a price I don't think is far to disclose, needless to say I was delighted, my expectations were exceeded. I was unclear as to what insurance products I should take and Caitlin took the time to describe to me what was available and what would best meet my requirements for coverage etc. Caitlin even took the time to provide a brief tour of the car so I could ask any questions that I might have. Overall, Caitlin was a wonderful representative of Europcar, I left the site in a car that I was delighted with, having been helped to buy products that best met my wishes, I did not feel like I was sold products, but helped to buy the right ones, this was a reflection of the customer focus and professionalism of Caitlin, I can think of a few car rental firms that could learn a lot from handling a booking the way that Caitlin did, Europcar will be my first stop when it comes to booking my next rental vehicle, I would not ask for or expect a better quality of service. I am disabled and this company provided a curtesy car when mine was damaged, my car was repaired and returned on the Friday, I contacted them to collect their car and was told by 1pm on the Friday , I then received a text at 1.50pm saying it would be between 2pm and 4pm on the Friday, at 4.40pm no one had shown up, I contacted them ands was told to ring the local branch after holding on for 20 mins no one answered so I called the main number back, they then put me on hold saying they were contacting the local branch, 25 minutes later I was just left on hold, so I phoned a 3rd time, and tried to explain again and the man just kept speaking over me so I asked if I could explain , and he said are you finished now, I cant do anything I'm a call centre in Morocco, so I asked for a UK number, which on calling they said they would escalate it and someone would call, that afternoon or first thing Saturday, at 9pm I received a text saying they were sorry they couldn't pick the car up and would call as soon as it opened, I cancelled a chest CT scan at 5.30pm on the Friday as they never turned up, also an optician on the Saturday as I had no idea when they would show, on Monday morning ad 7.25am I had a text saying they would pick the car up between 2pm and 4pm, then at 9.25am while I was at an appointment I got a call saying they would be there in 15 minutes, I explained I was at an appointment and they were very abrupt and I told them about the text earlier in the morning to which he had no knowledge of, and I am still waiting for it to be rearranged and picked up, they also supplied the car with between half a tank and three quarters of a tank which I took a pic of, and told me it was full, I have returned it with three quarters of a tank and cancelled my card as they said I would pay premium for a full tank when I said it wasn't full and I had proof, I have also C-PTSD and this was extremely distressful , over two and a half hours on the phone to rude staff , who treat disabled and people with mental health issues dismally , disgusting company. read more

Excellent service. Sharon was amazing. We had a problem with our reservation and she helped us fix it. She served us hot tea while we waited for the key to our rental. She walked us to our car and offered to carry our bags. Sharon was our first contact with a professional in the UK and she could not have been better. read more

Europcar's customer service is horrendous, and they're either deceitful in their refueling protocol or incompetent; regardless, they will not listen to reason, provide proof of their assertion, or acknowledge the proof that I have provided.1) I filled up the tank at 07:55 on 06/20/22; two miles from the return location at Manchester Airport's UK Rental Village. I provided a copy of the receipt.2) I returned the car ten minutes later, and while the attendant was checking me out, I took a photo of the dashboard at 08:08 providing evidence of a full tank and the mileage. I provided the photo proving this.3) Europcar would not acknowledge the proof that I sent to them; instead they provided a "telemetry document" showing the car at 62% fuel level. The time stamp of this "evidence" was 07:07. That's 48 minutes BEFORE I completely filled the tank.They refuse to refund me the £65 and state that it's a final decision and the case is closed. What don't they understand? English? Meanwhile, they've refused to acknowledge my photos, my receipts, won't provided evidence of the mileage of the car when I returned it, and won't acknowledge the FACT that their "evidence" of the fuel level is 48 minutes before I've proven that I filled up the car. Find another organization; these people are either crooks or woefully incompetent! read more

The only drawback (though no fault of Europcar): The site is badly signposted on approaching the airport. A few more signs, not only starting at the last roundabout before you are there, would be absolutely helpful. However, for car and team on site: top rating. read more

We were so appreciative of the woman at the counter in the car rental center (about 10 minute shuttle ride) at Manchester airport from whom we picked up the car. Firstly she helped us realize that the car we'd booked was Not ideal for our needs and she was absolutely right. The one she moved us to was perfect for our driving trip *and* would actually hold our luggage. Then she made a special effort to get us the best possible deal on it. AND she was efficient and friendly. We'd definitely use Europcar again ... but particularly at MAN! read more
