I only go to Eva's every now and then because it's so far from my house and there are a hundred Mexican restaurants from here to there, but going back today reminded me how amazing the food was. Really, driving the distance is more than worth it. Yesterday, I happened to be on the right side of town and went back to Eva's. It's a small building but that's one of the things I like the most about it. It's comfortable and friendly. The server's name was Marili and she was great. She anticipated when I needed anything and never made me feel like I was asking too much. There was a high school(?) aged kid that was very attentive and courteous and helped the servers fill drinks, take plates, and check up on tables. I ended up tipping him as well because he definitely deserved it. The owner was a consistent presence, also making sure everyone was happy and everything was in order. This is a small, family owned business and it definitely feels like it by the way they treat and know their customers. If that wasn't enough of a reason to support this place, the food was probably the best Mexican food I've had. As soon as I sat down, I ordered a cherry coke and a small queso to go with the chips. The chips were thick (but not overly so) and had a really good crunch to them, and the queso was definitely worth the buy. Their menu is very extensive and there are so many different dishes that I haven't seen at other restaurants. I don't usually get appetizers at Mexican restaurants for some reason, but I wanted to try something new. To start, I ordered the Mini Chimis (Two fried chimis stuffed with chicken, beans, and cheese and served with a homemade dressing.) The dressing was something like a coleslaw, sweet and tangy, and I could have probably drank the stuff it was so good. The chimis were cut in half and served over a shredded lettuce bed and were cooked perfectly. had to move the plate to the back of the table so I would not just eat all of it right then and there and not be able to eat any of the chicken fajitas I had ordered for an entree. The chicken fajitas came out sizzling and had more and better flavor than other fajitas I've had. The tortillas were so fluffy and tasty as well I actually ordered another side of them to go! The fajitas are served with the usual rice, beans, and lettuce mix and topped with a fresh homemade guacamole. When the owner stopped by, I asked him if they made the guacamole in house and he said that yes, they actually made everything fresh there. You can definitely taste the quality and care put into everything. At the end, the total was $42.80, and I will still probably get 4-5 more meals out of the leftovers because of the generous amount they serve. This is the kind of place that once you go once, you'll probably have a hard time staying away from so keep that in mind before you make that decision. I couldn't think of one bad thing to say even if I wanted to. 10/10 read more

Eva's carries all the standard fare and is constantly adding new, interesting items. They are friendly and provide a welcoming atmosphere. We are becoming regulars there and have literally never had a poor meal there. read more

This used to be my go to Place, but it all depends on the day and time of day you come every time I've came has been really good services has been great. Food has been great but this last time my son and I just ordered two chicken quesadillas to go one of the quesadillas was fully formed when the other one had tortillas on the side, chicken in a bowl, and no cheese, chicken quesadilla had to be formed myself, even paid for extra salsa which I never got it was so disappointing I didn't have time to form my own quesadilla as I was already running behind for work which is why I got it to go, so I never ate. read more

Amazing food, quick service, very sweet waitress. We were welcomed in right when we walked in the door and told thank you by the manager when we left. The salsa is definitely on the spicy side but has great flavor. The service seemed professional and passionate of their amazing establishment. The outside of the building might have you pass by without a second glance, but inside is a gem! The menu is straightforward and has all the staples you want to see at a Mexican restaurant. We tried the queso dip (get the large), the twin chimis (chicken for me), and the burrito gringo (beef.) The complimentary salsa was great, probably the best I've had in CR/Marion. Our entrees were hot and accurate for special requests. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that there were a lot of flies buzzing around inside. It was a hot day and the restaurant front door was slow to close, which probably explains why. A bug zapper would be a good investment. We will be back for certain. read more

What a yummy place! Small place, but it appears they have call ahead or reservation as an option. The margs come in 4 sizes and 8 flavors. A large menu and the prices are reasonable. The portions are plenty. The salsa has a little spice but not over the top. The guacamole was out of the is world. As someone who enjoys Authentic Mexican food, I would highly recommend this restaurant. While they may have some options for "Mexican-American" food, the majority of the menu has the authentic options found in Mexico. I recommend the Caldo de Res, Quesabirrias, the Tacos Paisa, and even the chips and salsa. The salsa has a slight spice to it which I never get to find in other restaurants (in fact, I don't even eat them most of the time). While service may not be top notch as some reviews have mentioned, the quality and taste of the food is why come back. read more

Well Marion has yet another Mexican restaurant! The restaurant is spacious and open and looks to be a good place for large groups. Service was very attentive and I never had an empty glass of water or an empty bowl of chips or salsa. Always a plus! The prices seemed to be right on point with other restaurants in the area. Our food was brought out rather quickly. I ordered the beef chimichanga with an up charge for cheese sauce, and my father had the fajita quesadilla i really wanted to love this place but I feel it was all just average. Nothing original or spectacular. I would eat here again but it's not on the top of my list for great Mexican food in the area. I would love to see more authentic offerings on the menu. read more

I had originally gone to Villas Patio and left after being completely ignored for over 5 minutes, they were not that busy. I've driven by Mi Tierra restaurant a thousand times, always meaning to try it and I'm so glad I did! Was greeted friendly and the waitress ( who was great) was at our table within 2 minutes. I am a doordasher part time, and I went to pick up food from this restaurant. When I walked in, it took 4 employees to make contact with me before what I presume to be an unpaid child took initiative to see I was there for an order. I have a big red bag it's pretty obvious. I was unsure if he wanted me to follow him or what so I walked to the bar area where the kitchen was and the hostess addressed me in a confrontational manner. I said "yeah he told me" and it was miscommunication but I guess she felt disrespected. After waiting 15 MINUTES I was clearly visibly annoyed and I was standing at the bar area so they wouldn't "forget". When they finally brought the food out she was walking with the same kid to make sure I behaved myself i guess. She was staring at me and had a big smirk on her face. As I'm putting the food on my bag some random guy walks past and says not so subtly under his breath "get this motherf*ker out of here". the hostess then wants to ARGUE with me saying that they were going to cancel the order, which is laughable, consideringi found out after getting to the customer that the last dasher unassigned from the order because it was taking so long. The food is delicious. We have come on several occasions, getting different items off the menu. It's the closest to authentic Mexican I have found in the area. We go during lunch because dinner can be pricey. Service is also hit or miss. Sometimes it's fantastic service, and other times it's a slow going person who forgets to give us silverware and takes a while with our drinks. Ok so new review of the new ownership/ management and I can't express to everyone how much this place feels like home and a place you'd like to hang out ever free minute possible. The staff and I don't think of them as staff they are all hosts that want you to have the best meal and experience possible. I admire that and really enjoy being with people like this, they are amazing. My wife and I eat out often and we have been to Mi Tierra twice. We declare Mi Tierra as our favorite Mexican restaurant in the greater Cedar Rapids area (displacing Adelitas). The food is great and the service is very good. I have only one significant complaint - the TVs. The first time we were there the TV in the main dinning area was broadcasting a Spanish language soap opera. It is apparent that the TVs are for the entertainment of the employees and not to provide a comfortable atmosphere for the customers. I find them annoying. This restaurant would be so much nicer with NO TVs and appropriate Mexican music (that is not too loud). Update - We were back today to enjoy 2 more great meals. I was pleased to hear appropriate Mexican music (that was not too loud). The TVs were still there, but the sound was completely shut off. That's okay with me. This is, without question, the very best Mexican Restaurant in the Cedar Rapids area. I just hope more people to discover this restaurant. We've never seen them very busy (yet). read more

I have never seen a chile relleno like they serve there. It was like an eggy omelet wrapped around a tiny relleno with a white sauce covering it. The omelet thing had zero taste. It was not fried and the white sauce was not good. I seriously told the server that they had brought out the wrong plate. I've never seen anything like it. When asked how the food was I told the waitress it was not good, I couldn't eat it and she said ya, they had changed the way they made it but didn't offer to get something else or not charge me for it. I did not eat it. The other meal at the table was almost as odd but at least he did eat it. The meal came with a chicken taco which was good. Very disappointed overall. Don't ask people how their meal is if you're not going to do something about it if it's not good. Overall the restaurant has a sticky, dirty feel to it. No soap in either bathroom which makes you wonder how the employees are washing their hands??? Very disappointed - would not recommend. read more

Their Burrito dos Amigos has a fantastic red a green chile sauce. I also enjoyed their Camarones Mazatlan! The shrimp was cooked perfectly in a nice creamy sauce.
