Great people, powerful messages, fun kids programs and it feels like home! I love this church and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I recently attended the Christmas production that was at this venue. It was my first time attending and i must say that i was thoroughly pleased. For the quality of performance i believe that the tickets were priced right. We paid $55 based on the Groupon tickets that were available. We laughed and cried it was really nice. I believe that for the amount of people attending it was organized and orderly. Most fruitful church in the DMV. Period. For decades, this church has imparted so much into multitudes of lives locally and abroad. I am forever changed by the touch of God I experienced at Evangel. Prior to attending here, I never really knew the love of God nor enjoyed the relationship I have now with Jesus. So, when I wrote this review I was relatively new to the area and did not realize Evangel Cathedral was known for its dramatics. I came here to see a play about Jesus. There were performances by known gospel singers, dancing and live animals!! I was dazed and amazed at the all the work put into the production (Not to be a shady tree, but remember this is a church production). The only complaint I have was the small compact seats (if you have any junk, and I mean ANY junk in your trunk or long legs you are going to be miserable) and I feel like they didn't have any food available, because i can remember feeling ravenous after the play. Overall good experience. If you are in to this kind of thing, make sure to grab tickets in the fall, winter and spring months (I think they have a show per season). read more

I received a letter in the mail from this church asking that each member for the bishop's birthday " give $1 for each year of his life". He will be 62 years old. "during both the 8am and 10 am services we will collect and present bishop don your birthday cards". And here's the best part, "if you will not be present during either services on Sunday, you can mail your birthday card into the church office or bring it the following Sunday". Really? read more

I attended the Evangel Cathedral Christmas production on 12/13. I bought my tickets using Groupon. After waiting in line for 30 minutes, those waiting in line were told that Groupon had not sent them the correct guest lists for them to issue tickets. The entire ordeal was very disorganized and frustrating. After waiting probably an additional 20 minutes, they final let us in to sit in overflow seating. The production itself was outstanding. If you purchase tickets using Groupon, be sure to get your tickets early, don't wait until the night of the show. Production A+, Service D- read more

The pastor was great, and gave an inspiring service. I had an unfortunate encounter with another member when I attended service there. I found her judgmental and condescending. Typical church people that I try to avoid. It really turned me off from ever returning there again--which is unfortunate because I think the preacher is talented. read more
