Evelyn Meinz is THE BEST!! This was one of the most enjoyable parts of our wedding planning. Evelyn understood the importance of our first dance song and she created a unique dance routine for us and taught us in just nine lessons some techniques to WOW our family and friends. We had no prior dance experience but Evelyn made us feel so comfortable right away and we had a really great time in each lesson. She is a highly knowledgeable instructor and was incredibly patient with both of us. Evelyn is amazing. Her ability to successfully navigate the intricacies of human relationships while teaching a new skill is at the level of a couple's therapist. As a psychologist myself I often found myself pondering - does she moonlight as a marriage and family therapist? Evelyn was able to break down the nuances of each move and make it accessible to our own unique learning styles. She noted tension and frustration within my husband or I just as it began and easily defused it often leaving us laughing at our own human foibles. She is SO MUCH FUN! We left each lesson feeling accomplished. The dance she choreographed for our wedding met all our criteria and more so. For our first dance we did a rather interesting combination of the song being a traditional country song, George Straight's "I Cross My Heart," but the dance being Argentinian Tango. Evelyn is the greatest. She is so patient, encouraging, fun, funny, and great at teaching. You can really tell that this is her passion. I found her via Yelp, and then learned that my friend from work had used her too, and had nothing but great things to say about her. We're in the middle of our dance package now, and it has been super fun learning from her and going to her weekly. Pulse Dance Studio is an excellent choice for learning how to dance. I've taken several salsa classes and have enjoyed every one of them. I know she also teaches ball room dance as well. The instructor, Evelyn, is extremely warm and friendly. She's a wonderful teacher who spends the time helping each student excel. I've only taken the group classes but Evelyn still takes the time to answer any questions about the proper dance moves and helped me along with doing them. The class vibe is also superb, everyone is friendly and there to learn and have fun. Sadly, I'm moving otherwise I'd continue taking her lessons. People, you won't be disappointed with her classes! Perfect for a beginner to come up to speed in the first half hour, then to challenge the more advanced dancers, all in the same session! It's no stress. I have taken dance lessons from a number of studios in Southern California, and I can state without qualification that Pulse is one of the best for the money.
