I see many mixed reviews here. Wandered into the store today. Absolutely beautiful and all the colors!!!! Sometimes on days where I may not be feeling my best,I like to wear something happy and colorful to help lift my spirits. I've had a rough couple of weeks. Just being in this shop was an uplifting experience. The gentleman running the store today was extremely helpful and friendly. I left with 2 items that fit perfectly and are very well made. I looked online for similar items and found the pricing to be on par for similar quality. I look forward to my next visit there! read more

Evelyn's work for my wedding in Sept was terrible. Hiring her was such a mistake. The whole experience was horrible and extremely frustrating! Her work and customer service were completely lacking and no where near worth the $2,000+ spent. She assured me, when I initially came in and placed my order, there was more than enough time to make the 11 adult and 3 child outfits for my bridal party. I was skeptical, but she ASSURED ME she would have them done and they would be of quality. Evelyn lied to get paid! She rushed to finish the order and she fell far short of what she promised to deliver. Evelyn provides work that is at best 50% accurate and claims it is 80-90%. Pockets were uneven, seams noticeably uncentered, buttons popped off when you simply try to button them, no one's outfit fit appropriately despite the fact she was provided measurements and did personal fittings. Overall, her work was ridiculously shabby and her level of unprofessionalism was so extreme that anyone paying for service would consider it blatant disrespect and cancel their order.  So soooo many times I wish I could have canceled and found someone else. Rather than hiring help to complete the project (which she said she had), she greedily kept all the money we paid and tried to do the entire order alone. Consequently, we were made to suffer for her inability to meet deadlines she set or conduct fittings and appointments in a timely manner. I was so disappointed and felt so regretful with my choice to hire Evelyn being that my bridal party spent their own money for their garments (which Evelyn at one point said, "That's  not a lot of money," to imply we should be accepting of her faulty work and lack of professionalism considering what we are spending. When is it EVER acceptable for a business to presume to know what "a lot" of money is for its customers?) Finally, the day before my wedding, she had the audacity to demand $300 more than agreed to in our signed contract with no ryhme, reason, or basis. Evelyn misrepresented her abilities, gave an unrealistic time frame for completion, never stuck to her word, and will blame the client for her failures as a seamstress/professional until she is blue in the face. I have never been so mishandled and disrespected as a customer or client in my life. HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! read more

Was on a family trip over the weekend and had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Evelyn the store owner. She was very friendly and accommodating. She just opened a new Man's Cave next door. She was kind enough to open that side so we could see the Men's Collection. Very nice We also went to see her Art gallery, another beautiful store. Congratulations on your Success. I didn't purchase anything because I have a similar business but her work is quite inspiring. Congratulations and please visit her store, it's beautiful. It's a kinda "cool" store, in retrospect. Probably, the only type of store in the Orlando Area providing HBCU and authentic African Apparel. However, comes with bad service. Store owner was on her phone the entire time I was a patron. She had a mother and child come in after me, looking for fabric for a school dance. Owner barked her response and continued with conversation. I was in the store for over 20 minutes, several guest - came into the store and left. All, including myself - left with zero purchases. Probably because owner was on phone the entire time. ‍ Lastly, I am complete supportive of paying a high price for authentic items. I am not supportive of the up-sell of mass produce items with a tag. I found several of her items - same merchandise, almost half the price: online. Wooden earrings $25: Amazon $12. C'mon. read more

I wish there were no stars to give. I see why this business has gotten such bad reviews. I made the horrible mistake of ordering two items from this crook. She was quick to take my money, but never delivered the merchandise. I stopped by on three different occasions, in the span of MONTHS, not days or weeks. With each time, I was told something different. The first time, she had to take down my order again, claiming she wanted to check on it, but later admitted that she never ordered the items. The second time, she was not in, and my order was taken down once again, and I was told I'd receive a call from the owner, but never did. Fast forward 3 months, I went into the store to once again pick up my order. After months of lie after lie, I had enough. I walked into the store asking to speak with her. Her employee left, and went behind the curtain, but returned with no Evelyn in sight. She initially told her employee to tell me she was working with a customer already and to let me know that she would call me. I was livid! I began to tell her employee how much she has lied about ordering my things, and how she refused to contact me. My voice was elevated, but not shouting or yelling. I was tactful, firm, and pretty tamed to be ticked off with her continued lies and lame excuses. After hearing me say that I was refusing to leave until she faced me, she finally surfaced from the back of the curtain. I told her I didn't appreciate being lied to, and how could she operate a business on false promises. In an effort to shut me up, because other patrons were shopping, she offered me a jacket that was too big for me. I couldn't believe it, she was bribing me!!! Other patrons began looking, and I told her I had been patient and in good faith, gave her my money in hopes that she would deliver on her end. She did not. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS UNGODLY woman. She is a liar and a cheat, and I cringe whenever I hear her commercials on the radio. And you wonder why people don't support Black business, she's a prime example. Though she offers beautiful products, they are overpriced, and to be frank, I don't have problem with lining the pockets of someone who is making a consorted effort to grow their business while keeping their integrity intact, and seeking to improve their clientele. Her lack of professionalism, the fact that she is a downright LIAR makes me wonder about the people she's cheated who didn't say anything leaves much to the imagination. I have quite a few friends that are always searching for African attire but will forever warn them of her poor business practices. Never again will I buy from or support this business. I went to this shop to have a two piece outfit made for my mother's funeral. I was promised the outfit at a specific time. It was not ready so she had it dropped off at my house. It was the worst, botched mess that I had ever seen. I went back to her store for a refund, which she wouldn't provide a portion of because a friend paid a portion on her credit card. She is a dishonest, heartless person to take $120 to sew an outfit that she obviously could not make professionally for my mother's funeral. I gave her 7 yards of fabric some of which she did not return to me. I am still reeling from her actions and horrible unprofessionalism and cruelty during my time of mourning. read more

My experience at this shop has been great and it goes back a long way. Personally, I feel pretty and special in Evelyn's Creations. I know that I am wearing something unique and well made and people often stop and ask me where I purchase my outfits. Evelyn is a professional. For me, the bottom line has always been a product that is competitively priced and exceeds my expectation. She will fit the product to your individual size, shape and taste. It is the best boutique ever because the outfits have an African flare and can be worn in any setting. I am happy when I shop at Evelyn's. read more

DO NOT GIVE THIS LADY YOUR MONEYI was planning my African themed wedding from out of state and Evelyn posed as a very experienced custom seamstress of African attire. First I gave her my designs three months before I needed my items. Evelyn also requested that I get the normal clothing sizes of the children and she would be able to make everything based off of the children's normal clothing size. My mother was available to be fitted for her dress and the end result was that the skirt was done too tight and she did not leave any hem space for the skirt to be let out. After receiving payment and the designs from the children's parents, she had LOST all of the designs so I had to redraw the design out for her for a second time (By this time it was three months after she had received the designs and sizes and three weeks after receiving full payment from the children's parents who were located out of state). Not to mention she became hard to reach by phone once she realized that there was a problem. Evelyn avoided my calls and ignored my text. There were three flower girls, one was available to be fitted. Flower girl one, who was fitted, top was two times too large and her skirt was too tight. Flower girl two, top was three sizes too big and skirt was too tight. Flower girl three, top was three times too big and again the skirt was too tight. My dancers outfits was the most challenging. Even though my design was clearly drawn out to be pants and a top EVELYN decided to make skirts and two scarves per girl. The scarves were to be these young girls tops. Since I was tight on time with my wedding getting closer I took the skirt and scarves to try on my girls and due to the material being thin and NOT LINED at all you could see was their bare breast under the scarves. Evelyn was contacted for a do over. I guess the designs magically appeared for because she did send me pants and top a second time but the pants were too small and the tops two sizes too big. While one of the dancers were practicing with Evelyn's last minute throw together costume, one of my dancers pants ripped in the crotch by this time this was the day before my wedding but good old seamstress #2 was standing in the side bar waiting to fix what should have been done the first time. Ushers had shirts and Kufi hats made by her as well, the shirts fit but the Kufi hats were so big that it swallowed the boy's heads whole and the tip of the hat landed at the bridge of their nose. One of the ushers were also present to be fitted as well. What was most disturbing is seamstress #2 was able to take apart and reconstruct the garments without using scissors because they were so cheaply made. All she had to do to take a strap loose or to take in the two and three sizes that were extra she would hold up the garment and tear right down the seam without using anything sharp. I also showed her the email's and texts of sizes I had given Evelyn and when she took them apart to see what measurements were used it was VERY INACCURATE! My second seamstress sews as a hobby and knew all of the flaws with garment before even taking it apart to try to fix it. Again, a suggestion for this vendor may be to get your fabric from her (her fabric selection is awesome) but I would not trust her with FULL PAYMENT until you see some of her work completed or better yet just don't let her take scissors to fabric you purchased. I am a young African American that was looking to support one of my fellow African Americans in the community to uplift her business but of course I paid a big price for doing that. With my event being planned out of state everything flowed really well with EVERY vendor I had from catering down to floral but when it came to Evelyn's Creations it was a nightmare! read more
