I have been here every single Thursday (almost) for the past 4 1/2 years. Parking is always a breeze on the upper-levels and is free too which is great. They've really increased the presentation of the whole place which is awesome, and the snack bar is a LOT nicer now (kudos on the candy stripe outfits too haha, reminds me of the family owned cinemas and candy bars in some areas of the States that I've been to). There's never really a long wait either; having said this, on occasion there is only one staff member on serving tickets, and if someone isn't ready to pay/doesn't know what they want to watch yet, it can really blow out the line wait times, even if you jump the queue with an online ticket as you're waiting for the one person. The cinemas themselves are generally very clean, never had food or rubbish at a seat before, so A+ on that front. Cinema quality is good as is the sound. VMAX cinemas are a nice middle-ground between normal and Gold Class (which is a joke I might add, it's like $35 for a ticket, AND you don't even get free popcorn and drink refills anymore! What the hell is the point, honestly). If you're a UQ student, they might still do the deal for $6.50 tickets, if not and you're a Telstra customer, get $11.50 tickets by logging into your Telstra account and accessing Telstra 'Thanks', they also have a large popcorn deal through Telstra for $13.50, which saves you around $5-6 all-up... Which definitely adds up when you go at least once a week haha. read more

My partner and I saw OZ at the Gold Class here and I have frequented this cinema a lot in the past. A couple of thoughts: Why oh why is it $16 to see a movie at event cinemas? Why are the seats in gold class so grubby? Why are some people sticklers about getting your BUPA or RACQ voucher- to the point they will send you to the library to print a copy when other people forget to even ask for it? I have VIP event cinema membership so they have me in a strangle hold. I earn points 30% quicker or something. I do enjoy the Vmax seats and the cinema staff are friendly. But it's hard to fork over $16 a ticket when other cinemas have $8 tickets... read more

This is one of Brisbane's major chain cinemas with Gold Class and the whole deal. Even though it costs a bit more (almost double that of the city's cheapest cinemas, actually), I find seeing a movie here to be a better experience than elsewhere. The screens are enormous, the seats comfortable and - importantly - you can book online and arrange where you sit. The cinema staff here seem more relaxed than other cinemas about bringing inside food in. They probably gave up on trying to stop the endless stream of people sneaking in McDonalds from the food court downstairs. Now they seem to have an arrangement with the nearby cafe where you can bring in their food and coffee, as well as a gourmet coffee stand out the front. Indooroopilly might be trying to catch up with Southbank Cinema, where there is more in the way of in-house cafes, including delicious gourmet deserts. The place can get very busy, particularly around Boxing Day when the blockbusters tend to come out (I remember what the Lord of the Rings trilogy was like). Booking seats online however can take the queue out of the equation for popular films. And remember: this is part of Indooroopilly shopping town. Expect to be flooded with teenagers trying to keep it real in the afternoon by loitering around here after school. read more

If Palace Cinemas are my main squeeze, then Event Cinemas (specifically Indooroopilly) is my not-so-secret affair. You see dear Palace, if I'm not seeing a movie in your wonderful surrounds I'm probably seeing it here. Now you know, we can all get along, right? Like most Event Cinemas this is pretty run of the mill and has all your standard looks-like-every-other-Event Cinema touches. With a Rydges Priority Guest Membership it makes it all sweeter with $10 tickets and really for the big Hollywood Blockbusters it isn't so bad. As for the candy bar? I'd suggest skipping the choc top and going straight for the Shlix ice cream. Skyfall was made at least 15% better by the red velvet ice cream and cookie crunch ice cream in a cup. Fact. read more

Event Cinemas Megaplex in the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre is huge. Located on the highest level of the shopping centre and right above the food court, it's quite convenient. My younger self would absolutely love coming here, the bright lights, the colourful and attractive layout... But these days, the prices are just becoming ridiculous. $16.50 an adult? Ah c'mon! Luckily for me, I am an MBF member and so I get a good discount. If I didn't I wouldn't come here. This is a popular cinema so I strongly suggest coming here earlier rather than later, because the queues can get really long. read more

I've been going here for YEARS. So I've seen the cinemas grow from the initial 8 to the MEGAplex and Gold Class that it is today. Is it expensive - YES, however, the cinemas are generally pretty clean, the seats are comfy and the toilets, sweet/chip shop and coffee cart are quick to serve. There are usually 'lots' of parks but you do have to be aware that during school holidays, busy times of year (Christmas, Easter) and super hot days MOST of Brisbane will go to the movies for something to do. I have frequently visited this cinema for as long as I remember! It will always be my local movies hang out but as the years go on it becomes more and more unaffordable. $14 for a student ticket is absolutely outrageous especially when purchasing a drink and popcorn will set you back $11. Gone are the times when the whole family could go for $40! The past 3 times I have seen a movie at indro something has gone wrong with either the air conditioning, the sound or the movie itself. One would think for $14/person they could afford the maintenance on the place! If it weren't for the cost I'd be here once a week. Unfortunately I'll be taking myself off to Southbank Cinemas where I can get a ticket for $5.50. read more
