With her unique combination of sagacity, humor and love, Leslie Davenport helped us to craft a…read morewedding ceremony that was beautiful, transformative, and sublime. A master of ritual performance, she provided a perfect combination of guidance, structure, and an appreciation for spontaneity, expressing the unique alchemy of our union while at the same time honoring our traditions and shared cultural heritage. Her evocation of the ancestors (softly calling out the names of departed loved ones, accented by the delicate chime of bell) was especially moving. Leslie helped us to devise rituals, symbolically expressing the interweaving our out two lives in a way that accentuated our marriage as a right of passage and a form spiritual initiation. A perfect combination of solemnity and celebration, she helped us create a deeply moving and soulful experience for our families, our friends and us. With great appreciation we offer Leslie Davenport our highest recommendation as a wedding officiant. Brian Dietrich & Jay Redd

I emailed her immediately as our wedding was less than two months away. We were also getting married on a Monday and hoped she would be able to accommodate this random day of the week. She was quick to reply and mentioned she has a teaching obligation on Mondays in San Francisco, but would try to see what she could work out. In the mean time we set up an initial meeting via Skype. At the time we were living in Washington DC. We were nervous at first, but Leslie's warmth set us at ease and it soon felt like we were chatting with an old friend. She explained her process and mentioned that she could help us customize our ceremony how ever we'd like. For us the ceremony is the most important part of any wedding day. We knew right away that Leslie was the one help us create something that we would remember for the rest of our lives. She emailed her guide/workbook for us to look over. It took us through the typical ceremony options, including all the necessary legal stuff plus special notations where we could customize and add fun bits. The guide was extremely helpful as we hadn't the foggiest idea of how the sequence of a ceremony should go. We took a few days to going over the workbook coming up with ideas and questions for our next meeting. At this point we were unsure of Leslie availability, but within a few days we got the green light!! Yay! In our second Skype meeting we went through the workbook, questions, and our ideas. We finally met with her in person the day before our wedding to go over final details. We didn't have a ceremony rehearsal so we met at this funky little spot for tea. It was a wonderful and calming experience for my husband and I to break away from the wedding guests and just relax and chat with her!! Leslie's presence is warm and inviting. Her delivery is soothing, and professional. It was so much more than "i do", and "kiss the bride". We were able to included a quote and poem from Dr Seuss, plus one of our favorite Led Zeppelin songs that was read by my husbands eldest sister. We had an afternoon ceremony that took place at Muir Beach Overlook on a breezy September day in front of 24 our closest family and friends. It really felt perfect...if "I do" say so myself. I cannot recommend Leslie enough. If you're looking for someone to preform a memorable and meaningful ceremony she is the one. She will care about you and guide you in creating a one of a kind moment that will represent each of you. I couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Do yourself a favor and call Leslie. You'll be glad you did.

She confirmed that she still creates these bears. We arranged for the clothing to be sent to her, and she confirmed receipt in December. She estimated a three-week turnaround time, and by the end of January, I reached out to check on the project's progress. She promptly responded, stating that she would complete the project by the end of the week. Two weeks later, I checked back for an update, but she had not responded. I have since reached out to her twice more without receiving a response. Now I feel like we may never be getting these bears or getting the clothes back of our loved one. The clothes came from the other side of the world (Southeast Asia) and is impossible to replace.

That being said, I do feel it's important to share my experience, so that other brides can hire a different wedding coordinator that will provide a more positive experience. After my initial call with Amanda, I looked forward to working with her. Shortly afterwards however, she became unresponsive for weeks despite repeated communication attempts. Eventually, Amanda apologized for not responding and offered to provide a complimentary floral preservation service, encasing my wedding flowers in resin, as a gesture of goodwill. I thought this was great and felt like she had handled the situation very well. Fast forward to the day of the wedding, there were a number of things she promised to do, but either forgot to do or did wrong (i.e. gave the boutonierres to the wrong people, did not bring the microphone speaker for our officiant, etc.). These were minor errors though, so I did not think much of it and let it go. The concerning issue is that Amanda took my wedding flowers three months ago and never returned them. I have reached out to her multiple times. She initially responded saying she would bring the preserved flowers to me on a particular day, but that day came and went. She never showed up, ignored multiple follow-up attempts, and has stopped responding altogether. I think it goes without saying that losing my wedding flowers is extremely upsetting, as they carried tremendous sentimental value. I want to stress that my husband and I have been kind, patient, and understanding throughout this process. I know people go through tough times, but it takes two minutes to text a client and be honest about the status of an order. Amanda--if you read this, I sincerely hope you are doing well. If you respond, please do not share excuses, but rather just let me know if or when I will ever receive my floral preservation.

I was concerned about the "elephant in the room" feeling of not having my dad walk down the aisle with me. I wanted to acknowledge the loss respectfully, without overshadowing a day I wanted to be filled with joy. Dale did this with perfect grace. Even before we had the chance to meet Dale, he was very responsive to our initial inquiries. Once we set up our first meeting, Dale mailed us a packet filled with information, ideas for ceremonies, vows, poems. It actually prompted us to sit down and focus better on what we wanted for what was really the most important part of the day. Within minutes of meeting him, we knew Dale was exactly who we wanted and we asked him to officiate on the spot. On the day of the wedding, Dale was prompt, and helped keep us at ease as we got ready. The ceremony flowed beautifully and had our guests laughing and engaged. Just the feel we had hoped for. Afterwards, Dale took care of all the necessary paperwork and we had our certified copies in less than a week.

We were really worried that we wouldn't be able to find an officiant so last-minute, but fortunately, someone recommended Chaplain Dale to us, and we are now SO glad that everything worked out the way that it did. We are so grateful to Dale for stepping in relatively last-minute, and in the end, while it sounded like a great idea at first to have a friend officiate the ceremony, it was ultimately SO nice to have a professional run the show. He had suggestions and options to choose from for each stage of the ceremony, and he allowed us to customize all of it to fit us. He came to the rehearsal and helped us think of some important small details that we otherwise wouldn't have. At the wedding, he helped get guests seated in time and then performed a WONDERFUL ceremony. We got compliments on it all night from guests. He was easy to work with, polite, professional, respectful, happy to help everything fit us and our relationship, and made the ceremony feel personal. Strongly recommend him to anyone looking for an officiant!
