We hired Rubal as our month-of coordinator in the hopes that all of our planning (we spent over a year planning) could go without a hitch on the actual days of the wedding. Indian weddings are multiple day affairs where you have hundreds of people per day/event. We wanted someone who would make sure we were fed, put family members in check (in the nicest way possible), and coordinate with all of our vendors to ensure a smooth operation on the day of. Rubal delivered on all of those fronts and more. I will be honest and say that there were a few glitches along the way, but they were minor and were handled by Rubal in an efficient manner and in a way that would not bother the bride and groom. The glitches were not the "fault" of Rubal but a bit of oversight in the planning in general that none of us caught. Where Rubal went above and beyond is that she tried her best and succeeded in many ways to save us money. She is experienced enough to know when a vendor is BS'ing you on a cost or trying to gouge you for something that should be standard. She even saved us $600 in extra cleaning fees that a vendor was trying to charge! She also has her own list of preferred vendors which are actually quite good. She was a godsend when it came to feeding us during each event. Guests swarm you like flies during a wedding so we were very thankful when she was at the ready with a plate of apps, mains, and desserts during each event. She would literally escort us to a private area to eat and make sure we were full and happy before we went back out to mingle and party with our guests. She was also helpful in communicating with all vendors and creating a detailed timeline of each event as if it were a script for a movie. We are so thankful to her that our wedding went smoothly and that everyone enjoyed themselves and that my wife and I weren't bothered in the slightest during all of the events. Rubal is truly a god-send to us. We met Rubal in Jan 2020 for a wedding date planned for July 2020. She was very friendly and personable on the very first meeting, wanting to know all about us from the very start. She was very easy to open up to and collaborate on the various events that we wanted as part of the wedding celebrations. Within a matter of a couple of weeks of the first meeting, she had all the ideas and plans on paper. She has very good contacts with vendors and was able to lock down dates and budgets which worked well for us. Unfortunately, Covid hit in March 2020 and we had to put all plans on hold. Rubal was very assuring during that time and made sure the vendors stuck to their deliverables for the re-plan. We had to work through a couple of more delays in 2021 and finally went ahead for dates in Apr 2022. Even though we went through a whole lot of uncertainty for almost two years, one thing that gave us comfort was that Rubal was there with us :-) Rubal's planning was great but the execution was impeccable. Where do I start with Rubal? Even if there were a rating of 100 stars, I do not think that would be enough to exemplify the professionalism and execution that Rubal displayed during my sister's wedding this past week. We initially had a different planner prior to Rubal who was not bad in our opinion, but I don't think the level of communication was going through with her. So, my sister hired Rubal, that too being 2-3 months away from the wedding. From day one, Rubal did more than she could to help us secure venues, vendors, deals to make our experience easier just everything in our power to make sure we were getting what we wanted. We had been doing most of the planning work by ourselves up to that point (booking the venue, scheduling vendors, etc), but were starting to get a little overwhelmed as the date got closer. As soon as we got out of our first meeting with her, it felt like a cloud had been lifted off of my shoulders! She was engaged and excited by what we were planning (a super non-traditional fantasy-themed costume wedding), and was able to give us a great deal of information and guidance on what to do next, and it finally started to feel like everything was coming together. But everything changed when COVID-19 attacked... Suddenly, all our plans went down the drain when the lockdowns started just a few weeks before the scheduled date. My niece, Sabrina aka 'the Sablet,' is getting married to one of the best men on the planet, Aziz, and planning a wedding, the process un-freakin-believably daunting, not for me, inasmuch as social rituals, anthropological mores and trends are irrelevant. But for my niece and her fiancé, it's a huge event, especially given she's dreamed of getting married since she was two years old, lol :-) She'd get dressed up with jewelry and come flouncing down the stairs swathed in her Mom's sari's, pretending to be an adult bride, days I cherish fondly. I want this to be everything she wants it to be, and she's got a sensible, pragmatic bent, which is why she's not someone who's gonna spend tens and tens of thousands on a single day, wanting instead to make an investment on a home. We were referred to Rubal by another relative, who is herself a wedding/event planner. We set up an initial video complementary consultation with Rubal. Truth: before the call, I was skeptical and internally rolling my eyes a bit, thinking OMG, let the stupidity begin. BUT ... and it's a huge "BUT," Rubal as they say in the corporate world, "far exceeded my expectations!" She is professional, articulate, patient, polished, and knowledgeable about: Every. Single. Thing. Every facet and dimension of our questions she answered with aplomb. It was not only my niece and her Mom (my sister in law), but also me. Between the three of us, a trifecta and avalanche of questioning. we had questions about logistics, venues, decor, food, reception, ceremony. We never once felt rushed. Wedding is bi-cultural (Arabic and South Asian/Indian), especially challenging, and required prior expertise. Not to toot my horn, which I'm doing, but I'm a fairly great judge of intentionality and temperament, and go by my intuition. I can say, with solid conviction, that she's bomb. In a heartbeat and hot minute, I'd recommend her. I love that she has a sense of nuance and subtlety with communique ... for example, nearing the middle of the consult, she broached with uber-subtlety, finance/budget/cost. My niece, with infinite naivety, and all the innocence/charm of someone so young, basically says to Rubal, that "she "didn't know," and threw out a number, to which Rubal gently gave her a reality check and artfully guided her about what she could expect at that price point. She also pointed out that there was actually no minimum cost--she could have a "beautiful" wedding at any price point, just that it would look different that the original vision. I guess if people have millions to spend and the will to spend that much on a single event, god bless. But we were not about to do this. And Rubal was more than willing to work with us at the price point we'd set. I loved and appreciated her patience, especially brimming with information about "vendors" and spreadsheets for cost, guest size, catering, and on and on. Because I don't ascribe to these ritualistic norms, what I appreciated more than anything--and what I deemed most valuable: her emphasis not on the wedding, but on the marriage. How damn refreshing! What a treat! And coming from a wedding/event planner, whose business it is to have a set of values and beliefs? Geezalou, seriously, when nearing the end, she began to talk about how it's really the quality of the MARRIAGE itself, the import of clarity in communicating with each other as a couple, and the gentle artful way she inquired with my niece. ... the wedding is only a day--I saw and noticed all of this, and as a psychologist, it was balm and tonic to my heart, especially as someone who sees couples in distress. Despite that I could tell my niece felt a bit awkward and squirmed a bit under Rubal's direct line of inquiry, these were tough questions to ask and Rubal did it with so much gentle grace. She did this, I should add, without putting pressure on Sabrina, to make a decision. Instead, she gave her space and time to mull things over. Throughout the consult, I sensed her heart and intention in the right place, e.g. she said, "You will always have access to me, to talk to me for anything, anytime; I offer a boutique service, and take on fewer clients so I can give full time ... " Come on, what bride to be wouldn't want to hear this? Most people about to be married are nervous and anxious, apprehensive about their big day, and willing, wishing for all to go according to the fantasy in their minds--and anyone that can ease that future trepidation, they'll sign up for. When we set out to begin planning our big day, my partner and I became very budget conscious. This was particularly true after the first few consultations with venues and various vendors. I can't put into words how amazing it was having Rubal plan and direct a major business event. We had over 300 guests plus extensive security, over 30 cooks, servers, caterers and staff, and she managed them all masterfully. The best way to tell your event planner is awesome is that you feel like a VIP guest at your event and get to enjoy it all without even a thought of logistics or worry. Hiring Rubal was hands down the smartest decision we made during the planning process. Every single bit of the experience was nothing short of incredible. Because of Rubals guidance, our engagement ceremony, Jaago/Sangeet, wedding and reception was wonderful and surpassed our expectations! Rubal was absolute PERFECTION as our wedding coordinator! We've had multiple weddings in our family and I never met a wedding vendor who has been both delightfully pleasant to work with and be around and extremely organized. She was phenomenal and such a thorough professional, she was willing to work through event timeline late into the evening and accommodate into the schedule all the small details we wanted to incorporate. Always open to a workaround and never shut down any ideas or said that won't be feasible in the event timeline she was provided advise without being condescending. Also she made sure everything was according to schedule but NEVER rushed the bride and groom or any ceremony details.
