We had the best time working with Scott! He went above and beyond the visions we had for our wedding. He was so helpful, communicated everything clearly, and he made it so easy on us by talking to our wedding planner and venue directly during planning (for dimensions, timing, etc.). He was so fun to work with, and eager to decorate our wedding venue!!!! Our flowers and decorations were stunning, and at the end of the night EVERYONE asked who we used. We used ETR for two events. The person we spoke with on the phone was nice both times, and when I went in, it was the same man, and he was equally as pleasant in person. Prices were great. However... When I called to rent, the man on the phone said that I could come in to pick up the rentals anytime before closing, and that they close at 4:30 on Fridays. I pulled up at 4:15 and the lights were off. It looked like the place was closed. I called the business number and the same man answered. He told me they were open and to come on in. He apologized and said that his colleague must have turned off all of the lights because they were closing soon. I picked up the rentals and went on my way. I then saw that I had a message on my phone from ETR. When I listened, it was a different person who was telling me that I was supposed to pick up the items by 3:00 pm because they needed to leave and shut down the office because they were busy. He seemed annoyed that I wasn't there, and I was confused because the man I spoke to said I had until closing at 4:30. The voicemail, though, did help me understand the reason the lights were off when I pulled up at 4:15. The following Monday, when I was due to return the items, I loaded up my car to head to the rental place, and had misplaced my car keys. I was hurrying to try to find them so that I could make the noon deadline, but I realized it wasn't going to happen. I called ETR to make them aware that I was running a few minutes behind, but in the middle of the call, my phone died after two rings. It did take a few more minutes to find my keys, and it was about a 15 minute drive, so I definitely was going to be late. It was past noon when I left. I plugged my phone in to charge in the car on the drive over. Once it turned back on, I saw that there were two missed calls. They were from ETR. I now realized they had called me at 11:43 to make sure that i was going to be on time, and another call after noon in response to my attempted call. Both calls were extremely rude. In a snarky tone, the first message was letting me know, again, that they needed to close early and that I needed to be sure to be there by noon because no one would be there to receive my returned items. "We may need to shut our doors again...I apologize but..." The second message was in a rude tone, saying, "Deanna, this is ETR Party Rentals. We missed your call. We're not sure what that means. Give us a call back, please." I called right back and no one answered, so I left a voicemail to let them know that, although it sounded like a lame excuse, I had lost my keys and that my phone had died when trying to call them to let them know I'd be late. I gave them the exact time my GPS said I'd arrive, and apologized for being late. When I arrived and was bringing in the stools, no one helped me unload. A woman finally came out and greeted me that I had never met before. She was counting everything I was returning. She clearly had an attitude. There was a burn mark on top of one of the stools, which was there when I picked them up, and the woman started to make an issue out of it. I said, "This was here when I picked these up." She started to argue with me and I quickly said, "No one smoked at this event. We are not smokers!" She seemed to be annoyed, but didn't say anything else and gave me a receipt. It was a very awkward exchange. I left, vowing to never do business with them again. I do understand that they have the right to be frustrated if I'm late returning their items. It was unforeseen circumstances...lost keys and a dying cell phone. If those things wouldn't have happened, I would have been there by noon. It was not okay that I was late, however, unexpected things happen and it was definitely not a justification to be treated disrespectfully by ETR. I'm disappointed that this business doesn't realize that serving the needs of a customer should not be their only goal, but serving the customer's needs while treating each one with respect is truly the most important factor in return business. The man on the voicemail messages was rude, the woman was rude. I'm sorry for the nice man on the phone (who I believe is an owner) because he probably doesn't realize that his colleagues/partners are creating a bad reputation for their business. I will NEVER rent from them again. I now tell everyone I know about the service I received there, and steer them away from ETR. For the record, this is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a bad review for any business. I commit to writing positive reviews, and always hope that any business that is less than great will get better over time. I feel that this poor treatment by ETR deserves being pointed out and that others should be aware. I am appalled by the way I was treated. read more

Scott and his team are second to none. They turned my reception (we eloped so we hosted a brunch for family and friends) into a party that all of my friends raved about. The process was so simple, it's almost embarassing....I met with Scott for about 20 minutes told him want I wanted, gave him a few pictures and he transformed an otherwise rather corporate setting into my "shabby chic" dream. Even my "big city friends" from Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit were very impressed by the tiny details that Scott covered. I also want to note, that, I did my event during a very busy season and mine was not a particularly expensive event compared to others that were taking place during the same time, but everytime I called with a question or concern, Scott or one of his staff (I loved talking to Andrew too) would treat my event like it was the ONLY event they were working at that time. I can't say enough about Events to Rent, they were creative and fabulous and I am now looking for another reason to have a party just so I can hire them again! I went online and requested to rent a few tables and chairs for my daughter's college graduation. The quote was sent on 6/26 through email, but I did not see the email until 6/30. It was good for three days; I called to see if the items were still available. I was rudely told that they had nothing for me because other people responded quicker. As I tried to understand whether the items were no longer available or if I need to request other types of tables and chairs, I was rudely spoken to about not having staff. When I again, tried to understand (I was thinking maybe I needed to pick them up or choose other items), I said that I felt I was being talked to rudely. Then I was hung up on before I could finish speaking. I understand that COVID has brought challenges. However, I cannot understand treating a potential customer as if they were bothering them by calling and trying to arrange a rental. My call lasted less than 2 minutes; I was in no way rude. I hope no one will rent from a place that is so hostile to a potential customer. read more

We rented chairs for a wedding that were absolutely filthy. Family members spent hours wiping them down. Know what you're getting into with these guys, they were extremely rude and unpleasant to work with. read more

I am so thankful that a friend recommended Events to Rent of East Lansing for my daughter's wedding on 10/18/14. From the moment we met Scott, we knew we were in good hands. Planning a wedding can be daunting. And I imagine, many people are taken advantage of, in the process. That was not our experience. Scott's goal was to establish our budget, and work within the budget. I would email him pictures of bridesmaids dresses, flowers that we liked, tuxedos, a copy of our invitation, just so I knew, we had the same vision for this wedding. After reviewing our initial order and looking at the reception space again, I said to Scott, "I think we need a few more substantial flower bouquets for our tables." So we removed a few things on our initial order and replaced them with these flowers...and the added bouquets made the room! From the initial introduction email, to wedding day, the process was so smooth. My friend from New Jersey came in, who is also a florist. She was very complimentary about the beauty of the bride's bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, church flowers, and reception candle centerpieces, flowers, etc. We could not have been happier with the way everything turned out! read more
