Something kept beeping every half a minute or so - low battery fire alarm? The young waitress thought there was no free soft drink with the starter I was ordering while it was clearly mentioned in the menu. Aside the above minor points, the place was busy even on a Wednesday night. I picked traditional Nepalese dishes, bit unusual the wheat / flour mix I added a photo off, sticky texture , mouth-watering lamb curry, spicy sides, and a free mango juice that you have to drink straight from the carton with a straw. The food seemed a bit sweeter than Indian that I am used to but it was a pleasant change. My favorite dishes were the fish curry (tikke masala?) and the butter chicken. My only big complaint was that the chickpeas in the chana masala weren't cooked all the way through....al dente. We didn't eat most of it. The dishes were all nicely spiced - nothing too outrageously hot. Nice selection of beers. We never got to dessert as we ordered way too much food! I'm hoping the staff is trained at CPR as I'm feeling dizzy just looking at it. I managed to leave the sausage and the bread behind. Coffee was good and strong. Seating is tables for two or four. A party of five came in while I was dining and they had to split themselves over two tables. If you sit by the window, or at one of the outside tables, there's plenty of people watching to be had. As such, it's an ideal place to end a night on the beers. You're not going to offend anyone, you won't be too much out of pocket and the food isn't going to have you on the Thunder-box the next morning. I am writing this review whilst feeling pleasantly full of some of the best Indian restaurant food that I have had in many years. I think it is fair to say that the specialities are Nepalese and there were items on the menu that I had not tried before. The Nepalese Khutta, Shahi and Hariyali Dish were new to me and I am so pleased to have tried them. And I will be having them again, and introducing my friends to them! Acid test for me in any Indian restaurant is an onion bhaji and Shahi's were like onion patties, a slight crispness on the outside, oniony and not like a flour bomb. Shahi are well worth trying if you live locally. If you are visiting the area they are worth seeking out.
